Oh dear, it sounds like Barnes might need some arm pats to cheer him up.

Harley pulled a blinder on Saturday morning. I took his litter tray down to change the litter so I put it on the kitchen work top, bagged up all the old litter, put fresh in, turned around to empty the other litter tray that's in the kitchen and within a flash Harley is in his litter tray (still on the worktop) digging deep to do his bizz. There was cat litter all over the worktop and oven hob, all over the floor, barely any left in the tray in fact! I guess he just couldn't wait for me to take it back upstairs :D

rofl - reminds me of when I was caring for Atrix's cats while they were away for a week on holiday.
I had cleaned and just refilled the litter trays and Miley (one of his ragdolls - who is really not a 'nice' cat), walked past me and onto one of the litter trays, turned and gave me a look of utter contempt and proceeded to kick half the litter out of the tray - before having a pee! and not bothering to cover it up either! That cat does NOT like me!
When going into Atrix's house, I carefully look at the ragdolls before petting them! Cocoa is lovely - but Miley is a right beeetch! and they are both very similar looking!
I don't want to get it wrong and try to pet Miley!

his missus - Barnes litter trays are located in the bathroom -so litter tray cleaning time means I take up a bunch of black bin bags, empty trays into bin bags and clean the trays in the bath - Yeah, I have to clean the bath - but its easier than carrying both trays downstairs etc! and back up again! and Barnes is usually in the bathroom doorway 'dying' to use the litter tray!

nonnie - I just found out that burning incense sticks helps with the smell - and I haven't had a really bad asthma attack. I find that amazing!
I haven't burned incense sticks since Nicky cat passed away - he had a real 'thing' for incense! roflmao - he adored them and I used to light a stick for him to sit over and let the smoke waft over his face. his favourite was 'Frankinsense'. I haven't burned that yet - I have loads of sticks in cupboard but decided to try burning some in the porch. the flower scents seem to help mask the paint smell! but brought back memories of Nicky. a beautiful Ginger and white gentle cat.

Had to go up mums today - its getting harder and harder to go in as its 'emptied'. I know it has to be done, but if even I find it hard, my sis must find it really upsetting! she is not coping well but is trying hard.
Sis cleaned the leather suite with Cif! OMG! so me and OH took some leather cleaner and restorer up and gave it a good going over - as Atrix's neighbour had expressed an interest. I also gave the mattress a steam clean just in case anyone wanted it (I know the family don't).
mum also had the habit of squirting her Bath Lotion under the tap - right under the tap! instead of in the water. so there was a blue streak down the enamel of the bath. well, I took a magic sponge up and it got 'some' of the blue off.......but it had 'eaten' at the enamel! and its the bath original to the house so its over a hundred years old.I think I will have to sand it back and re-enamel. the bath panel is loose so I had a look, and it is a lovely Claw Foot bath! paint it and it will look absolutely fantastic!
Barnes seems to think it should still be summer! he comes down in morning and stares through French doors then sighs and goes have breakfast and back to bed! for a couple of hours! then comes down and will go out and do 'perimeter check' but comes straight back in and .........goes nap again! if the sun comes out he will go out, and he makes a point of going out at least twice a day - but he obviously misses the sun and is beginning to prefer the warmth inside.

My experiance with using the re-enamaling paint is that when it 'sets' it does so all of a sudden, so don't hang about when finishing off. The sponge I was using (provided with the paint) suddenly got stuck to the paint and rather spoilt the finish.:(
I'm sure you can get a very good finish, but I do suspect it takes a bit of practice.

I have to say Meri, my little brood is spending less time outside now it's colder and darker. I feel bad that Harley ends up locked in the house whilst we're at work and so misses most of the dsylight but I'm still not entirely happy about him having complete freedom to come and go as he pleases. Besides I'm not sure my kitchen could cater for all 4 of them living in there all day together! (Hubby doesn't like them having free run of the house whilst we're not there, especially Casper, as they do have an annoying habit of throwing up ginger hairballs which seem to stain anything pale if you don't clean it straight away)

thanks Shrike - that is good to know!

I hate it when Barnes chucks up hairballs -- I think its poo at first! and yes it does leave a worse stain than poo for some reason!
sorry short post as I wanted to reply to Shrike and his missus. got some family history to research. a real problem finding an uncles service records - honestly, you would think the man worked for MI5! and I know for a fact he received the Burma Star so spent at least part of WW2 out there.

Fireworks night! for the last couple of years Barnes has ignored all the fireworks going off - but OH has been in and watching TV with the sound turned up. tonight, OH goes to visit a friend and the TV was off. and Barnes got very 'clingy'! not like him! so I put the TV on and turned the sound up a bit - nope! he wanted to be near me. so we played 'Catchthedreamies' and Pingponguppastairs'. then a new game 'Find the Dreamies'! I lay a trail of dreamies into another room and 'hide' dreamies. of course I have to give him a pile of dreamies to distract Barnes while I hide the dreamies. he likes this game! and luckily - its such a !!!!! night for fireworks most of them are over before the game ends!
the downside is - is that like us, everyone is going to wait for better weather before having their fireworks party!

Well Barnes came downstairs a couple of times this morning - check on Ava and was it fine enough to go in the garden! Ava was engrossed in HER programmes on TV and NO it was piddling down outside!
he did come down while Ava was having her nap, so he settled down at her feet after sniffing her face thoroughly - I thought he was going to lick her, and was about to get up and stop him, when he had second thoughts himself! he must realise she is a 'light sleeper'!
As Ava is approaching her first birthday - she looks more and more like my brother! I find the resemblance a bit spooky tbh! she is even overweight exactly like he was - except in those days they were highly praised 'Bonny Babies'!

Went out to a fireworks party earlier (not all pleasure I was doing the food).
Came home and got a severe telling off from Barney as I was over an hour past his suppertime!!! made my DD laugh - he was so pussed off with me!
I wonder what he is plotting for revenge!
