    Debt-free and Proud!
I do wonder if the flea irritation is what makes him grumpy and "stressed" a bit like we might feel grumpy if we're ill.

He's always been part of a multi-cat home ever since we got him at 8 weeks old (he's 7 now) so I can't imagine it's that.

I don't think it's a food allergy as I always stick to the same brand of biscuits and only 3 different brands of food (for variety) which I mix and match throughout the week so if he was intolerant to one his over grooming would constant rather than sporadic.

I have considered my washing detergent may be an issue so maybe if he calms down at mum's I should try whatever she uses...

Well, the rain was nothing out of the ordinary (its Wales - we do rain here really well), but the wind was a bit 'breezy'! as I saw bits of debris flying up the valley I wouldn't let Barney out. I had almost been swept off my feet going out to recycling bin. and I weigh a lot more than Barnes! Didn't want to have to search Gelligaer Common for him! I don't think he really understood, he kept gazing longingly out the French doors. Nope, you are not going out - eventually he gave up and went and napped upstairs. He had been out early this morning before Storm 'Barney' hit. did his perimeter checks and came in for breakfast.
Its all calmed down now - and he is curled up on settee.

    How did court go Nonnie?
I do wish the weather people wouldn't make such a fuss! Honestly - the weather has been more or less 'normal'. Like yourselves we are used to bad weather and winds of 50 - 60 don't faze us. and the rain has to be torrential before we take much notice of it! Hoods and Umbrellas are a fact of life here!

Barnes insisted on going out this morning - and sitting in the rain so got a good towelling off when he came in. I am beginning to suspect he enjoys the cuddle really........I am sure I heard him purring this morning.
  • Well Meri, for the 2nd time the accusers failed to turn up! Shock horror...no doubt something to do with the fact that my nephew is innocent, and that we even have cctv footage to back this up. All helps towards the appeal lodged for the initial conviction I suppose, but it's going back to court for the third time on 18th Feb and if they fail to turn up it should be thrown out. What a waste of tax payers time and money! But really it's the emotional damage its doing to all the family, especially my mum. But hey ho when you look at the poor people caught up in last Friday's attacks, and people fleeing for there life then it could be so much worse.

Love that Barnes will sit in the rain, I swear my two think they're going to melt if one drop of rain hits them lol. I bet getting that cuddle from you is Barnes guilty pleasure that he just won't admit to!! xx

Nonnie - its really frustrating when this happens and you can prove innocence. and then there is the stress of waiting for the next court date. I always think you cant compare what happens in tragedies like last Friday to peoples personal lives. Stressful situations that are ongoing like yours can take a terrible toll on lives.
Barnes went out this morning and was sat in the rain - and got his towelling off! lovely warm towel straight off the radiator, he couldn't stop purring! lol - sneaky of me I know, to warm his towel!
Ava was emptying his toy basket and he was perched on the coffee table above it, when she spied her nearly empty bottle of milk. she grabbed it - took a swig and offered it to Barney! the look on his face was priceless.......he didn't know whether to be offended or pleased! he politely sniffed it and then declined.
She then bumshuffled over and started pulling on the aeriel wire - so I pulled her away - she shuffles back, I pull her away, this happens every time I have her and she is a determined little girl! Barnes solved this problem this morning - he went and stretched out against the wire and the wall! Clever Cat!
Ava is one tomorrow - where has the year gone?????????

Ava came to get her card and presents about midday. She was delighted with the set of Twirlywoos I had bought her and the Bing and Flop I have knitted for her. Sadly they were only here about twenty minutes when DIL had a phone call to tell her that her grandfather had passed away. I immediately offered to mind the kids for her and my son to go be with her dad and family. couldn't help thinking that Ava's birthdays will be tinged with sadness for DIL now.
Still Barnes enjoyed the kids company - even though he probably thinks grandson is a cat hazard - he leaps and jumps and runs all over the place (and yes, its the one who sat on him).

Had Ava today and Barnes did his usual 'curling up at her feet' for her nap - but, it was a short one! Twenty minutes and she was bright eyed and bushy tailed! but they did have a nice play when Ava tossed most of Barnes toys out of his toy basket.
ashamed to say that poor Barnes got left out in the rain last night! I got him in before I went shopping and we got home about 6.15 and I was pottering about in kitchen, put Barnes supper down at 6.30 and went on computer. about 8.00 I went into kitchen to dish up supper and noticed Barnes supper hadn't been touched.........strange, so I went upstairs to find Barnes......hmmmm, not there! ask OH if he knows where Barnes is, 'Nope'. even more strange - open French Doors and a soaked Barney comes in complaining loudly! get a nice warm towel off radiator and cuddle and dry Barnes.
annoyed with OH as I KNOW Barnes was in when I went out, so he must have let him out! at least Barnes doesn't blame ME! he cuddled up to me most of last night.

Poor wet Barnes! Maybe setup some sort of shelter by the french doors for him?
My cat complains loudly when she comes in soaked, but not because she needed letting in (she has a catflap) but because its obviously my fault its raining! She doesn't like being toweled down either, I think that's because toweling will force the water from her outer fur into her inner coat?
  • Im such a softie to my two boys that I bought one of those plastic kennels and furnised it with a single duvet so that they have somewhere comfortable and dry to go when they dont want to be in the house. My Misntral is very nervous around strangers and Peefer hates the hoover so both dive out of the cat flap if something upsets them.
They used to sit on the decking in the rain staring at me through the window which used to make me feel sooooooo guilty.
Now they have somewhere nice to go! They even use it in the summer when they want to be outside in the cool air but want to sleep. : -)
