    nope - no storms!

I had to laugh today - Atrix came down for a visit but fell asleep stretched out on one of the settees. Barnes was upstairs and came down, came in the room and stopped dead staring at Atrix! he gave me an incredulous look, then 'stomped' over to the settee, jumped onto the arm and sniffed Atrixs hair, then proceeded to walk all round him sniffing him as he went - satisfied that Atrix WAS sleeping, he then jumped off and went to HIS settee back for a little nap! I sort of thought he expected ME to curl up for a nap too!

Now my cats would have jumped on him and curled up somewhere on his torso, depending which cat it was!

his missus - your cats would love Atrix! I call him the 'Cat Whisperer'! They adore him! all the neighbourhood cats visit the house - and I don't think its just because of HIS cats. he gets strange cats follow him in the street and every cat he meets becomes his 'Best Friend Forever'. and all the strays and abused cats make a beeline for his house - I dunno how many cats he has rehomed!
Barnes is always delighted to see him - but Barnes doesn't do lapsitting. he may briefly curl up with OH but only half his body will be on OHs lap. and he wont lapsit on me at all. yet he loves to be cuddled like a baby!

Nonnie - First Cat Timmy was a 'character'! all the dogs in the street were scared stiff of him! the vet and her nurses hated him with a passion! talk about short tempered! he was referred to as 'that sodding cat' and they brought out the 'gloves' when they saw him! rofl. I used to say he was a lovely cat, a real sweety, to wind them up - because I knew that if you picked him up and cuddled him like a baby (like Barnes), and scratched his lower back, he responded by licking your face!!!!!! I loved him and he did love me (I think), but he had no tolerance for people who didn't give him 'RESPECT'! The only cat I ever met who would box Atrixs' ears or bite him! I think Timmy taught Atrix how to treat cats with the proper respect.

I went out to lunch today and forgot to leave Barnes' lunch! good thing that his dry food bowl was full! he didn't get his G&T until teatime either! bad cat mommy! I don't think he is very pleased with me right now - he seems to HATE his routine being out of kilter! he is cuddled up with OH on the settee and ignoring me!
I have the kids in the morning so hopefully that will please him!

very quiet day today! the kids behaved like angels - except for Ava bumshuffling faster than I thought she could, and she removed all the coals from my fake fire while I was getting her brother a drink of pop! thing is they are real coals so her hands were black! lol - plus I made the mistake of giving her some cheese puffs, which she sucked until sticky and soggy and then sat on........so I had to wash and dry her leggings and socks and spent twenty minutes scrubbing my carpet which had neon orange stains on it! oops - wont make THAT mistake again!
barnes kept popping downstairs to check on the kids, and that it was still raining out! then going back to bed - I felt quite exhausted when they left!
no kids tomorrow - but, I have to go pick up mums ashes. my bro is then coming to mine after work to pick them up as I don't want them in my house! I really don't even want them in here - I was going to take them straight up mums as I have to meet an estate agent up there - but bro doesn't want them left in an empty house! which I find just as strange as my not wanting them in MY house!
actually, I had to laugh, as I said to Atrix that my plan was to pick up mums ashes and take them up her house and was meeting the Estate agent and he started laughing - puzzled, I asked what was so funny, and he said he had a vision of me introducing myself and then saying 'and this is my mother'!

I just realised I should have made an appointment this month for barnes to get his heart murmer checked at the vets. must do that tomorrow. he actually got his lunch on time - but his G&T was a bit late as I waited for the kids to leave. it was only an hour late, which is a great improvement as my head has been all over the place lately!

Oh Meri, the most unbelievably wonderful thing happened today. Hubby got a call from the vets in the next town telling us that Harley had been found! After 18 months!

He's been visiting a lady for the past few weeks and she eventually managed to get him to the vets who scanned him.

Tikka and Scrappy don't seem to sure and I'm not sure Harley remembers us or them but he's quite settled sat with us at the moment. I hope after a few days everyone will be settled together again.

Oh Wow! his missus that is fantastic news!!!!!!!!!
Harley is probably traumatised right now and not sure of his place - he will need lots of reassurance I think. But, its absolutely brilliant he has been found! ALL pets should be chipped I believe!
Ummm - although Barnes vets know he belongs to me - they didn't scan him for a chip..........I think on his next visit I will ask for the info on his chip, if he has one, to be up-dated.
his ex owner, before Atrix, updated them recently that Barnes is an uncle to a lovely litter of kittens! so his details may or may not have been passed on.
I am sure the cats will accept Harley back again - he just probably smells a bit strange right now.

Lisa, who found him, said he didn't like been shut in at her house but he hasn't even looked out the window here. He spent the evening curled up on the settee with us then came up to bed and spent the night with us. Typical teenager, he's still in bed! So he seems settled. Just need to work on all the kitties getting on together now

I hope he's not picked up any feral traits. We don't know if he's been living rough for all 18 months or just a few.
Oh, and we've heard the purr which gave him his name :)

ahhhh - the throaty roar/purr of a Harley Davidson! unmistakable! good thing he didn't sound like a Kawasaki! you would have had to call him Kwacker! I don't think he would 'pick up' feral traits - he has been taught his manners as a kitten and that lasts them for life (one reason its hard to 'tame' feral kittens over 12 weeks).

Heyyyy - we had thunderstorms today! a bit pathetic really, hardly any lightening but the thunder was rumbling away and it 'tamped down' (valleys saying for heavy rain). barnes wasn't impressed - he ignored it completely.
been a bit of a strange day - I had intended completing the little cotton cardi for Ava that's been waiting a month........but 'stuff' intervened and very little got done.
I did fix Barnes cat bed that sits on the back of the settee - I hand stitched a piece of cotton material to the base of it and then stitched a channel at the bottom of it, stuffed it with old tights and it now traps the bed firmly on the settee! no more tobogganing down the settee back for Barnables!

I don't think you'll be able to get the vets to update the details, you have to get the chip company to do it. The vet should be able to tell you which chip company the chip is registered to. I would imagine you'll have to be ready to answer some questions about why you are updating details on the chip if the registered owner they have doesn't have the same name, in the way you'd hope the interrogate you if somebody tried to take your name off the details you register.

thanks slinky - my son Atrix is in contact with Barneys former owner so it shouldn't be a problem getting his details updated.
strangely enough, he was in contact with Atrix's wife today - who sent him the Barney catching dreamies vid. he was pleased to see that Barnes seemed happy and content and well looked after. and updated Atrix that Barnes is about to become a great-uncle!

it seems that even with former owner, Barney got stressed being around other cats - even though it had been all he knew. Barnes is much happier as an 'only cat'. just goes to show that they all have different personalities and their own characteristics and likes and dislikes.
and yes, he has had a lovely day - a lovely long sunday lie in followed by a leisurely lunch and a nice play with the kids then later on the sun came out so he had some 'garden time'. purrrfect day!

Meri, we had a storm here on Saturday night. It wasn't much where I live but a house around the corner from the in-laws (who only live a couple of miles away from us) was set on fire when lightning struck it! Fortunately there were no casualties.

Harley does seem to have remembered things. He was trying to get out the cat flap yesterday morning so we bought a harness and lead set (we used one when he was a kitten desperate to go out with the big cats) and as soon as he saw it, he came and sat down and let me put it on then went straight to the back door :)

He's booked in at the vets for a health check and vaccinations on Wednesday evening.
