Oh Meri might be an idea to raise it with them, do it in writing
It's incredibly insensitive
Xx0 -
I cant get my head round them doing this - they even say in the letter they apologise if it causes distress! so obviously they realise it will do so!
barstewards!
why not send the information with the ashes? I could accept that - I wouldn't take them up on it because its almost a con to me - Overpriced tatt!0 -
I haven't calmed down yet! but am composing a really strong letter to those with 'influence' in these matters. I am not overreacting I have been told - most people have reacted with shock and disgust at the appalling timing.
but, on to nicer matters................
Barnes has had a lovely couple of days - lots of kids to play with! just checked and he still has some ear mites deep down, so will ring vets in morning to get some 'industrial strength' stuff for him.
I went to bed early last night - felt worn out - and he was a bit surprised to find me there as it was still light out! but, he felt he should join me and we had a lovely snuggle. then i got my feet warmed and he crawled up the bed to warm my back, lol. I woke this morning to find him cwtched behind my knees.0 -
Meri have you tried thornitts ear powder?
It's really good.
Letter is a good idea
Xx0 -
Thank you melly - I am willing to try anything! and powder would be better as he really hates the 'drops'! he is such a sweet cat I hate to do anything which upsets him - but of course earmites and fleas and worms have to be eradicated for his own comfort! unfortunately they don't understand that - all they know is you are 'being mean' to them! but a few dreamies or a treat stick usually bribes them into a better mood!
wonder of wonders - it actually occurred to me this morning that a 'spot-on' for fleas could be due................and it was due today! so that's been done. he had his wormer last month so not due for another month or so.
another day when the house was full of kids and the baby for him to watch and play with! he was in his element! He is getting awfully brave with Ava - he walked within inches of her today and she was so taken aback she forgot to make a grab for him!
I did notice that when she came in she looked for Barnes on the settee back, and it was only when I repeated 'Ava, Ava Sweety' she looked at me! rofl! and Barnes got cooed at! I didn't! lol.
lmao - Ava did fall asleep at one point and I laid her on a different settee to usual - Barnes settee! he was really startled to jump up onto the seat on his way to his 'spot', and Ava was sleeping right in front of him! he squeeked in alarm, turned round and ran outside!0 -
If you let me know where you are I can send you some to try Meri Boo doesn't need it now Froo cleans his ears for him lol.
He sounds lovely, tomcat had a scrap last night and milked OH for sympathy (cuddles and treat stick)0 -
sorry no post last night but my DD didn't leave until late and I went straight to bed.
its very warm and humid today - which Barnes doesn't seem to mind as long as he can find shade under a shrub or something.
supposed to be storms later - I bet we don't get one! I love a good storm, but they very rarely venture up the valleys! cant get over Caerphilly mountain I suspect!
Thanks for the offer melly - will pm you my address! Thanks!0 -
nope - no storms!
I had to laugh today - Atrix came down for a visit but fell asleep stretched out on one of the settees. Barnes was upstairs and came down, came in the room and stopped dead staring at Atrix! he gave me an incredulous look, then 'stomped' over to the settee, jumped onto the arm and sniffed Atrixs hair, then proceeded to walk all round him sniffing him as he went - satisfied that Atrix WAS sleeping, he then jumped off and went to HIS settee back for a little nap! I sort of thought he expected ME to curl up for a nap too!0 -
hi all - sorry no posts for a few days, not been on the forum much - distracting myself with mindless carp on tinternet!
Barnes is fine, his usual loving self. I bought him a cat bed from Home Bargins to put in his 'nap spot' on the settee back (I was fed up of seeing the towel there - his drool was making the leather discolour). he seems to like it! exept its a little big and if he isn't careful it slips off dumping him onto the seat! so I am going to stitch a bit of material on the underside to trap between the settee and the wall and hopefully secure it in place.
you are going to love this nonnie! the night before last I went to bed early again, and cuddled down and was cold, lay there thinking if I don't warm up soon I will put the duvet back on..........and felt barnes walking sort of diagonally across my legs. then it occurred to me I hadn't felt him jump on the bed...............and believe me, you KNOW when barnes jumps on the bed! raise my head look down and theres nothing there! no barnes! puzzled I lay down again and feel a cat walking across my legs! look, and there is still nothing there! I get up, go downstairs and barnes is on settee back. OK, go back to bed and put duvet on it, snuggle down and damme if I don't feel it again and HEAR cat purring loudly! not barnes then. second cat Nicky never ever came upstairs - its not that he wasn't allowed he just preferred to stay downstairs. First Cat Timmy however, had a habit of coming in the bedroom, walking across OHs head and walking down diagonally across my legs to his preferred sleeping spot at the bottom of the bed. (he liked to wake OH up by sneaking under the duvet and biting his toes - HARD!). I think I got a sympathy visit from Timmy.
I went into mums yesterday and picked up the post - couldn't smell anything when I arrived - but it soon filled with the smell of Pledge. I said 'Hi mam' and in a few minutes it went. People keep coming up with these theories of why we can smell furniture polish - but the smell is so 'random', one minute you cant smell anything then the next its everywhere..............I don't think its a leaking can, the only can is unopened. the cupboard its kept in may have a slight smell of cleaners - but it wont fill the whole house and you would smell it strongly when you went in. its weird!0 -
Aaww I LOVE Timmy! How amazing is it to think that all these 'people' that used to be physically in our life hang around to help us when we need it....cats are just little people aren't they??
I'm quite sure that even if all cans or traces of furniture polish were removed from your mums house the smell would still be there. I do however find it funny that some people just HAVE to come up with a reasonable explanation for these things lol xx0
