hi nonnie! the kids usually break up for the summer about the third week in July. not sure of the actual date. They go back during the first week in September. (which is when I like to have a holiday as the weather is normally super that week). I cant see that happening this year as DIL goes back to work in July and I will be the only babyminder this time. her mum has a different job and her hours mean she cant help out. oh heck - just realised I will probably have the baby plus her brother during July and August!
Well Barnes will be happy - and I will be shattered!
he got dreamies again last night for being a 'good cat' and waiting outside the door to be let in - hmmmm, perhaps he is on the way to being 'trained' to come in at ten? but HOW does he know the time?

Gosh that's going to be a mighty busy summer for you and Barnes!

Your absolutely right about September being nice although my kids are back on 17th August and I'm just hoping the weather picks up a little during the next 7 weeks, it's been raining all day today and someone said that the summer hasn't to be great up here (I'm happy with 19/20 otherwise I'm melting lol) hopefully it'll be nicer down your way xx

Late tonight as the grandgirls were supposed to have a sleepover, but after I got their suppers (like a ruddy short order cook tonight - they all wanted different including OH!), the youngest wanted to go home. ok, that's par for the course for her. then the other two got ready for bed half hour ago - read them a story...........and they wanted to go home too! So, OH just taken them home.
Barnes is now running up and down stairs looking for them - for some reason he got shut in the porch while they were changing their minds and putting their shoes on to leave!
he is going nuts - probably thinking he has Alzhiemers and he is SURE the girls were here, and now they have disappeared!
its been a very grey and damp day today - even rained this afternoon - but then the skies cleared and by 5.00 it was gorgeous! about 21/22 out there! Barnes then abandoned the settee back and went and inspected his garden and it got dry enough he could lie on the gravel. and have a good old roll - he enjoys that!

sorry no post last night - yes, I watched Harry Potter then a program called 'Black Works' - and went upstairs to change into nightclothes and could hear strange sounds from next door. Old lady, lives alone and been very ill. put socks and slippers and dressing gown on and go round. I can hear her groaning and crying through letterbox, but no response to my calling and knocking on door (she is very deaf). toddle down the street to her friends who I know has a key, dam she is isn't in. go back up and scream through the letterbox ''Name' are you ok?'. she struggles to front door and lets me in. Poor thing is in agony, but I suspect its wind............phone her son, he thinks its wind too but says he will ring ambulance then come up. Symptoms are similar to heart problem so cant take the chance. poor old girl starts throwing up, but is still in extreme pain. Wait until her son gets there and have a chat with him, help her change nightie and son thanks me and sends me home. I could still hear her for the next hour or so...........then must have fallen asleep. she is still in hospital for observation.
I now have sons personal mobile number as he was concerned when I told him she couldn't answer the door/didn't hear me.
This must be the ONLY advantage to having paper thin house walls!
And Barnes just looked at me like I was completely bonkers when I went out last night - but was sat in hallway waiting for me when I came in!
he made me laff today - Atrix's youngest came for lunch and he was delighted, but he retired to settee back for a nap, and she started playing PeepBo with him - it was so funny as he was laying there ever so calm and composed and everytime she bobbed up and said 'Boo' - he squeeked loudly! I think he was humouring her!

What a good neighbour you are! It's such a shame for the lady, do you think she is well enough to be living on her own now?

Aaww bless Barnes for playing along, what a sweetheart he is xx.

tbh - my neighbour and I have had many a disagreement! she is rather deaf and doesn't realise how much noise I can hear from her TV and Radio. I have had my living room soundproofed! lost nearly 5 inches of space and cost a bomb, but it was worth it, as I cant hear a thing from next door in there. the rest of the house by the party wall is another matter. But, she isn't a bad person and I rather like her - single unmarried mother, brought her son up when 'having a child outside wedlock' was still a scandal. am a bit worried as she still isn't home and when I have rung son the mobile is switched off. could just be he is in work and she is still under observation.
should she be on her own? well her son has been asking her to come live with him and his partner for the last five or six years - she wont! she likes her independence. she has carers there once a day, perhaps they could arrange an 'alarm' system for nightime for her? I mean, I don't mind going round if I hear her (happened a few times now), but I worry that she could be too ill to move and like many older people she hesitates to call for help. doesn't want to 'bother people'.

well Barnes tonight had both Ava and her brother to play with. He actually approached Ava as she sat on the floor with some toys.....a bit gingerly, but she giggled and reached for him. he let her touch him then retreated a bit.

Ava's bro got a bit bored after supper,so I threw Barnes ping pong balls at him. so we had a ping pong 'fight'! and Barnes joined in by chasing all the ricochet shots over the living room and into the dining room! it was such fun!

My mum had an emergency bracelet so she could summon an ambulance if she fell. I don't suppose Social Services hand them out willy-nilly, but if your neighbour is getting to the stage where she is likely to fall and not be able to contact anyone they should provide one. I was quite impressed at how much Social Services did for mum to keep her in her own home but I suppose it depends on where you live.

    Debt-free and Proud!
We bought mum a mobile phone with a panic button on it which, when pressed, will send a text to the 4 of us. Thing is, she treats it like a corded house phone, doesn't even take it up to bed or out into the garden!

neighbour is ok - just she is staying in while her 'home care' is being adjusted.
nonnie, neighbour has both a landline and a mobile and like your mum she leaves it in the living room! something will be sorted out I am sure.

its been very warm today - Barnes loves it, but even he sought shade around 3.00pm! he decided on under the peony as he could have a chew of the leaves at the same time. honestly, I cant believe how many plants he likes to chomp on!
Had the lovely Ava again for a couple of hours this evening - Barnes was happy! going up to her making squeeking noises but carefully remaining out of reach! then sitting and watching her play with her toys.
he is now basking in the evening sunshine - OH is out there too enjoying the evening with him. with weather like this who would want to live anywhere else?

awwww - its been horrible today - cloudy hot and humid! very draining!

been informed that neighbour has had surgery - she had a 'twisted bowel'! so she wont be home for a while - she will recuperate down sons as they are sorting out extra care for her to stay in her home. that's what she wants - and if its at all possible then that's what she will get.

Barnes didn't seem to mind the heat and humidity - he seems happy enough today. If a bit more eccentric than usual. he keeps going upstairs, then must spot a fly landing in the garden, cos he thumps downstairs and out the French doors at high speed!then races back in again. he even did that cat thing of jumping up and turning round to land the other way - running!
