thank you melly and nonnie! rofl, yeah, my normal temp freaks out most nurses/doctors, except my GP who is used to it! I have no idea why a bout of pneumonia would do this - but that's GPs theory based on it was normal 'before', and abnormal 'after'. the effect is that I feel cold most of the time - the upside is that heatwaves don't affect me too much. I love them! Have been warned that low temps which wouldn't affect other people COULD be dangerous for me. so I am not planning any holidays to antartica or Alaska this winter - but I would dearly love to see the Aurora Borealis!

Right, Barnes is a bit annoyed with me - I went up the shop too early and took too long! Atrix came in while I was out and he said he heard a Kia (our make of car) park nearby - Barnes obviously expected me to walk in and was watching for me, and when I didn't come in he got upset! when I did arrive he ran to the door to greet me. Apparently Persians can be a bit 'doglike' in their devotion to people. that's why he gets upset if the girls don't arrive on Tuesdays - he has it in his dayplanner! and he LOVES to see them.

I can still smell that bloody paint! its getting worse I think - OH may have to paint over it.

today has been warm - but, weather forecast is for thunderstorms and heavy rain tomorrow - I am NOT holding my breath! its rare for storms to make it across the Bristol channel (we used to watch them from our caravan on the coast - they seemed to 'stall' in Somerset!). Shame as I love a good storm!
I don't know how Barnes would react..........probably would just ignore it - but some cats are scared or sensitive and he has been acting a bit weird today!
running about as if something has bitten him on the bum, giving me 'the Glare' for no reason and generally not behaving very well! he has been told off a few times for sharpening his claws on the carpet - and when I examined his paws they don't need clipping. oh and he virtually emptied his toy box and didn't actually play with one thing! just tossed it all out!

Try putting a bowl of vinegar in the room, it should help absorb the smell without leaving the room smelling like a chip shop. Or ask on Old Style.

Not sure if i mentioned that I picked up a 'slim ball' for Sammy and he certainly doesn't chase it all over the place but is swiping it about to get his dreamies out. Took him a wee while to work out that you had to use his paws to move it successfully rather than his head lol..

Don't know if my cat had experience of them before I got her, but she immediately sussed that gently nosing the ball along was the best way to get Dreamies out without risking losing them. So not a winner for exercise! Back to ping pong balls and scrunched up paper for her.:)

Thanks savvy sue - but I tried that, and leaving a cut onion in the hallway (worst place) didn't work.
hi Shrike - I really am going to have to look into getting Barnes a slim ball!
he was 'rooting' around in his toy basket for ages this afternoon - then turned round and gave me 'The Glare' before stalking off toyless. I guess that I had deprived him of the toy he REALLY REALLY wanted to play with! that will teach me to give away HIS TOYS!

No storms as yet - but my head is feeling the pressure! I rarely get headaches, but the last two days had on/off headaches all the time. now its either the weather or that bluddy paint!

Barnes is behaving strangely too - one minute he is curled up on my bed (daytime!) the next he is running round like a loon!

I had the bright idea of using one of his brushes to sweep down the stair carpet as I could see cat hairs on it - Barnes watched me with interest then decided to 'help' with his claws! oh dear - OH is going to be very cross with me if Barnes decides scratching the stair carpet is desirable behaviour!

first, apologies for no post last night - grandgirl K hogged the computer so I watched 'The Hobbit' with the other two grandgirls. when that ended it was 'bedtime', and it took a while to get them settled - they had questions and wanted to talk. I just unplugged the computer and went to bed after that!

tonights' is a bit early as grandgirl K woke me at 5.30am this morning! arrrrghh - no sleep after that. and before I go to bed tonight I have a ton of research to do to answer her question!

Barnes has had a lovely day - had all the grandkids here for Sunday dinner and he loved it! he had lots of attention and treats - thoroughly spoiled!

last night he slept in with me for most of the night. of course he got the girls to bed first! I am sure he thinks its his responsibility.
Hopefully, we (Barnes and myself), will get a leetle more sleep tonight! cos Barnes has certainly lost out on nap time today - he has been to interested in what the kids are up to!

he did make me laugh though. I sent OH over the supermarket to get some more supplies (I wasn't actually expecting ALL seven grandkids to Sunday Dinner so wanted more veg and a cooked chicken as I thought one wasn't enough - and we didn't have enough toffee sauce for dessert). OH and the kids came back and OH gave me my change. wow - there was a tenner with it! I went to put it in my purse and noticed Barnes staring at it, so waved it under his nose, 'ahhh Barnes - its MONEY, you don't use that do you'? grandgirl started giggling and I added 'But you could buy TEN packs of dreamies with this' - and he snatched it out of my hand and ran off with it! I do wish I had that on film! me and grandgirl were in fits laughing. I did get it back off him though when I gave him a couple of dreamies.

ahhhhh - another quiet Monday! no grandkids (as much as I love them I think I had 'grandchild overload' yesterday - I was cream-crackered !) OH in work - just me and Barnes. LOVELY!

and the weather was gorgeous after a cloudy start, the sun came out and it got warm enough to leave the French door open for Barnes by about 11.00am.
finished a knitted cotton sun hat for Ava and started a new jacket with DK yarn - and the courier brought the cotton yarn I had ordered as it looked very silky and soft. I wasn't expecting it until Wednesday at the earliest! I am 'itching' to use it - but will be good and finish the jacket first.
barnes of course, has spent most of the day in the garden - he saw little girl off to school, had breakfast and returned to the garden instead of back up to bed until it warmed up! I don't have to watch him so closely now as we have removed to front garden every plant he has been eating.
I am planning on popping over to town tomorrow - I must remember to go in Home Bargains to check out the cat food offers! I forget sometimes as it is behind the high street.

didn't manage to get to town - was getting ready when DIL turned up and asked me to have Ava for an hour or so. well, I cant turn that offer down can I?

Barnes finds her fascinating - but he has learned to keep out of her reach. he just watches her intently from a safe perch. So baby and I had a happy couple of hours playing.
I must purchase some toys for her - went and checked toybox and I have nothing in there for under threes! I probably gave them to charity a couple of years back, as I vaguely remember chucking the broken ones.
barnes is going to spend a lot of time safely out of reach from next month - I am going to be sole babyminder when DILs maternity leave ends and she goes back to work. her mum has a different job now so she cant do it. I mean share childminding - like she did before with Ava's brother.
We (Barnes and I) look forward to that!
apart from that we had the pleasure of the grandgirls later, after school. Barnes enjoyed that.
and the weather has been lovely again - looks like a cloudy day tomorrow so will prob pop over town then.

just a quickie to say that its been a right manky day! very cloudy and 'damp' feeling. Barnes has spent most of the day supervising my knitting.
did pop over town and got a few toys for the baby.
Forecast tomorrow is much better - should be sunny and warm. so Barnes and I may well get some garden time.

well Barnes got his garden time - but even after I took a hay fever tablet- I couldn't go out for long before I started sneezing. so it was settee for me unfortunately.
last night after I posted it started raining and dopey OH only let Barnes out! I didn't realise and drew the curtains and put the lamp on...........then looked round and asked where Barney was. he was soaked - he must have been out there over an hour. he got towelled off and then sulked for a while. He seems ok today though. next time though OH can towel him off and get some of Barnes displeasure because the little sod was cuddling up to OH as nice as you like!
