hi melly - no, now and again a neighbour cat will come sit outside the gate and they will stare at each other for a while. Barnes has been trained NOT to go out of the rear garden. in this area, a pedigree cat would be nicked, on fleabay and sold before I even realised he was gone!
rain this morning, so it was lunchtime by the time it got dry enough for Barnes to venture out. thank the goddesses that the crocus has all died back - at least he cant eat them now! will have to dig them up and put them out the front for next year. the things I have to do for that cat! still, he IS worth it!
OH decided to paint the hallway today - which meant taking everything off my desk, under my desk, in the desk drawers and piled in boxes next to my desk. a major task! while it was all stacked up in the dining room Barnes went round it and sniffed and inspected everything............I was surprised he didn't have a marker pen and put crosses on everything he thought I should get rid of! I did take the opportunity to clear out a few things though. I am amazed now at how much space there is on my desk!

Scrappy is driving my mum potty! He's still in my time zone - up at 6am and bed at 10pm- unfortunately mum lives in a retired time zone - up at 9.30am and bed at midnight, maybe later if she finds a film to watch.

It sounds like Scrappy's winning as mum finally gives in at 8am and gets up :)

He seemed pleased to see us when we popped over this afternoon but maybe that's because we were taking extra food supplies for him ;) I didn't see him rushing out to follow us when we left!

oh dear his missus - wont scrappy have a lie in? I have to say I 'normally' get up around 8am. BUT, if I am woken at 6.00am - I cant go back to sleep. so get up. Barnes doesn't seem to mind - he just has an early breakfast and now its light at that time will go out in garden (if it isn't raining). but I have been known to sleep until 9.00am now, and he waits patiently for me to get up. but goes out an THEN has breakfast.

Grandgirls stayed over last night (you all knew that didn't you?), and K hogged the computer all night! they ate supper early and after that K went on computer and the other two amused themselves and me playing cards, colouring in and watching Barbie on DVD.
K is upset because HER cat has disappeared - its a female kitten and there is a waiting list for neutering up the vets and, ohoh, she came in season....................so K has been printing posters etc.
we hope Kiki will come home soon!
for anyone in the Caerphilly area - Kiki is a very small black kitten (she looks about 5-6months) with a white patch on her chest and vivid green eyes. please keep an eye out for her?
Barnes is serenading 'younextdoor' again - perhaps he thinks she might be interested now? well, she doesn't seem to be. Ignores him as usual.
he had a lovely time with the grandkids! I didn't see him all night - he spent it with them I think. I couldn't sleep well and every time I looked in on them he was curled up between the twins.

I hope Kiki comes home soon, have they tried the old trick of putting some unwashed washing on their line to attract her?

I would love to have a bit of a lie in at the weekend but I have absolutely no chance of that from Fat Sam! 6am onwards he doesn't stop moaning for food, half wondering if I should invest in an automatic food dispenser set for 6 at the weekends?

The good news is that his diet is slowly starting to pay off, hubby didn't believe that he had lost any weight till he witnessed it himself.....Sam can now officially clean his own bum without falling over!! - success lol xx

hi nonnie - I will suggest to her that she puts her nighty on the line! I don't think DIL would go for putting dirty washing out!
yep - get the food dispenser but make sure he cant 'help himself'. Atrix has one and the cats soon learned how to 'access' the food with their paws!
It has been belting down with rain all day - barnes stayed in until about ten minutes ago - then insisted on going out. he dashed across the decking giving what sounded like 'yelps' then backed into the Dicentra and is sat there staring out of the gate! I have his towel warming on the radiator as its cold in here too!

OH has been painting again today - and he forgot gloss paint down BnQ so we popped over willkies - and never again will he buy their gloss paint!!!!!!!!!!! it works fine - covers well and is easy to use - but it STINKS! I have sprayed perfume, burnt incense sticks and the smell is still nauseating! off down BnQ again tomorrow I think!

Barnes had the pleasure of GS2 and GD5s company this afternoon - while their parents went shopping. but GS2 starting playing with a softball so he wisely kept his distance. and watched Ava like a hawk - you can tell he is dying to come over and fuss her - but knows she 'grabs' him.
lets hope the weather people are right and the sun will come out tomorrow! I need to 'air the house'!

edit - its 9.28 we have been calling him for the past 40 minutes - even OH tried to call him in and he wasn't having it! and I just had to don boots and hooded jacket to go out and get him in! he was soaked so he had a good towelling off and he has gone up to bed in high dudgeon! good thing the heating is on!

He really likes to keep you busy! It's blowing a gale outside but I'm hoping it will have calmed down a bit by tomorrow as my 2 get a wee bit stir crazy being constantly stuck in and then play chases at 4am, oh joy.

I've been having a read at some of the reviews on pet feeders and a few have mentioned about their kitties breaking them open so I'll do some research, thanks for that.

Have you tried the little small ball that you fill with treats so that they have to run about and play with it to get some out? Just wondered if it might get Sammy a bit more active other than at 4am lol xx

except he may want to play with it 3.00am!
no I haven't tried that nonnie - I have the feeling that Barnes would smell the dreamies and not let us rest until he gets them!

lol, Atrix's cats learned that if they stuck their paws up the hole - the food came out!
still its better than his first cat felix and his sidekick. they learned how to open the fridge! Felix would jump on top of it and push the door open - his sidekick (I forget his name Atrix has had so many cats) would then jump in and take whatever they fancied. drop it on the floor. Felix would then jump down and leave the fridge door open. while they consumed their 'finds'.
at least barnes doesn't do that!
the weather has been dreadful here. 'blowing a hooley' as you say! still doing it! was promised it would clear up - but it hasn't.
Barnes really doesn't like coming in at night now - no matter how cold or wet! he likes to make the most of the light! Tough - I want him IN!
Tuesday - but no grandgirls. don't know why but Barnes stayed in from 3.30 to nearly 5 expecting them in. one disappointed cat and a disappointed grandma too. hint, a text would have been nice?

oh and I can still smell that paint! yeeeucch! a nice day would have meant I could open the doors etc - had to keep them shut the weather so bad.

well a much nicer day - still not warm enough for me though! barnes has been in and out because its still a bit windy.

and that paint STILL stinks! Atrix came in this morning and complained about it. he didn't stay long because it gave him a headache. there was no warning on the paint it had a high odour - may well complain to Wilkies. wouldn't have bought it if I had known it was so bad. OH popped down to BnQ and bought their low odour one to finish off with.

barnes has had a few tellings off from OH the last couple of days.... he loves masking tape! and every time OH tries to mask off to paint barnes tries to take it off! its quite funny really. Barnes has learned to put a claw underneath it and prise it up! but today he tried to get it off before it even went on the bottom glass panel of the door! OH wasn't amused although I was.

My kitty isn't even allowed out unsupervised! We got him a harness and I take him for walks.
