That's great news that it has helped gd2 being at yours and any wee 'breakthrough' you get with her I'm sure will be a massive bonus.

I bet Barnes would be one of those animals that would be great going into hospitals to help patients he has such a sweet nature!

I must admit that I really love Nicola Sturgeon, she was born just 9 miles from here and her accent is exactly like mine. She seems very friendly with Leanne Woods so maybe they can swap tips :D

I had to go to court yesterday and I'm back tomorrow to support my nephew who was falsely accused....it was the first time I had ever been in a court and I really didn't enjoy the experience at all!
So keep your fingers crossed for him and I'm hoping it will all be finished tomorrow, it's judge only so no jury to worry about but I can't believe people can lie so easily, it was a real eye opener to me but even more so for my dd, she is the same age, is close to him and really wanted to go to be there for him. Wasn't sure if she should have gone or not but she handled it very well and is determined to go back tomorrow but her next higher exam is Friday, oh what to do!

Anyway hope your weather is nice tomorrow, it's looks as though it might not be so cold here so that's a bonus :)

Glad it's having an immediate effect, Meri.

Got home from work last night to find clumps of grey fur all over the kitchen! Scrappy has randomly started overgrooming again :(

I combed him and there's no sign of fleas or flea dirt on him (the male vet insists his overgrooming is due to an allergy of flea bites) and the only noticeable change in routine/food is that we had a surveyor visit on Monday morning.

Fortunately I have a few Ovarid left which will see him through the next 2 weeks and he's off to mum's anyway next Thursday so fingers crossed!

its never a pleasant experience at court nonnie! its a very intimidating place. and its awful to know that loved ones futures is very much in the hands of a person who doesn't know them - and that other witnesses brazenly lie. one just hopes the judge sees through them. so good luck with the outcome.

poor Scrappy and poor you! is he DETERMINED to become a hairless cat? you would have to tell people he is one of those Egyptian cats.

DG2 is sleeping at home tonight. she decided to go home after school but intended sleeping here - then had a bit of an accident (she fell and badly bruised her elbow) so she needs her mum tonight. she says she will come back tomorrow......................so watch this space. She knows she has a 'bolt hole' here - so do all the grandchildren - a bit of 'respite care' often benefits everyone. and btw - I don't 'spoil them', they have 'house rules' which must be followed.
I think Barnes will miss her though - he loves having kids to sleep with.
talking about Barnes (as I should, as its his thread), Had a pooey sticky bum (his I hasten to say) to clean up again today! am considering perhaps clipping back the fur on his nether regions? he is getting much furrier and tbh you cant see the problem only smell it when its getting a bit bad. and that area was fine yesterday! he must have known it was stinky as he has been avoiding me all day! it was only when I did G&T I realised it. I picked him up and got a 'whiff'!

Well, GD2 has decided to stay home tonight. YAY! not that I don't want her, but her place is, well, at home.
Barnes is either missing her or avoiding me - his nether regions were clean at G&T time, so perhaps he is sulking because he didn't have a kid to sleep with and she hasn't turned up today. He hasn't even watched TV with OH - he has curled up either on the landing or on the bedroom windowsill.

Weather been bluddy awful here today - rained all day and right now its stopped raining a couple of hours ago but its still very damp out. the pavements haven't dried out at all. So poor Barnes has been in nearly all day.

Hmmm, Meri...in order to convince people my stressed out, bald cat was actually a sleek Egyptian breed, Scrappy would have to lose his podgy belly ;)

sorry no post last light - was watching BGT, then OH fancied a Chinese takeaway, so I had one too..............and I simply couldn't stay awake long enough to boot up the computer.
lol - and I meant to tell you all about yesterday morning!
I woke up to find Barnes sitting by my head purring away - looking very pleased with himself. strange, but not being very compos mentis in the morning I just got up and wandered downstairs, where OH had kindly made me a pot of tea. poured my tea and noticed OH looking at me and grinning. smiled back and said g'moaning'. went for ciggy and came back and was drinking my tea and Oh was still looking at me and grinning - now this is weird. I say 'What?'. 'Nothing' he says. okayyyyyyyy, five minutes later he is sniggering - 'OK, what you laffing at'? 'Go look in the mirror' he says. I go look in the mirror..........and my right eyebrow is sticking straight up!!!!!!! I touch it and its stiff like its been gelled! I immediately recall Barnes sitting there ever so pleased with himself! I KNOW he has licked my eyebrow til it stands up!
I spent all day wondering if it was:
Retaliation for the ear drops or the brushing of his nether regions?
    or
He thinks its a good look for humans!

I then found myself considering wearing a bandage round my head to cover said eyebrows to go to bed! or a bobble hat! Silly! I just have to remember now to wash my face BEFORE I go downstairs for cuppa and ciggy.

You know how sometimes we catch a glimpse of someone and think "is that so-and-so?" only to realise it isn't? Do you think cats do the same? Only there's a black, skinny cat which has recently appeared around the Close - I've done a double take a couple of times as it looks just like Blackie and I know Blackie's passed on.

Scrappy's seen it a couple of times when I've been there. Do you think this has set off his latest stress bout? Do cats realise when another has been PTS at the vets? Do they rely on visual recognition or sense of smell?

honestly his missus - I don't know. cats are 'visual' creatures, but they also have a great sense of smell - and this cat wouldn't smell like Blackie. but just like humans perhaps the resemblance triggers something? After first cat Timmy passed on one of his offspring still lived by me - and it used to jolt me to see him as he was very, very much like Timmy.

Melly - I am giving Barnes the benefit of the doubt! as he has been sweet today - but a pain in the arrrrse this morning. it was hammering down and he wanted out! No! No way, not in that! Cried by French doors, paced up and down, Cried some more..........I mean it was like a tropical storm! I even opened the door to show him it was RAINING outside! he declined to venture out but still yowled and cried when I shut the door!
a lovely sunny afternoon but the wind was really 'gusty' - which he doesn't like so 'in and out'. oh well, at least I get some exercise getting up off settee to let him in and out!
