Well today Barnes' back end was much 'fluffier' than his front end! made me smile every time I looked at it! I have been forgiven for the 'rear end bath' - but, I swear that when I looked at him and wondered just how fluffy he would be all over if I bathed him - I got 'The Glare' again - I think he was reading my mind! He is busily grooming his back end all the time - I am sure he is aware that it looks a bit different to the rest of him!
he is right now up on the bed waiting for the grandgirls. Saturday night sleepover, but they are having 'quiet time' and busy colouring in from a book of 'grownups colouring pages'. beautiful representations of famous paintings in outline - which I had to copy for them as two chose the same page! I have five or six grownups colouring books as they find kids ones too 'childish'! and cheap colouring pencils or markers are not good enough either - they choose to use my Daler-Rowney pencils or ProMarkers! and the results are beautiful!

i have long hair and every now and then i'd find a bit of poop dangling from my old Sugar cat's bum where she'd somehow ingested one of my hairs. i would have to hold her and gently pull it out!
Cats don't have owners - they have staff!! :D:p

Eeuuuuwwww scaredy-cat! thankfully, this is the first time its happened and I cant really work out why. hopefully, it will be the last! I had to buy some incense sticks up the shop, and burn a few before the house was cleared of the stink! (I don't use aerosol sprays - because they can trigger an asthma attack).
barnes was so funny today - grandchild K was playing with him and she piled ALL his toys over him - as he lay there pretending to ignore her. she got out the 'Cats Meow' and put it on - he ignored it. she pretended to play with it - and aroused his 'competitive streak'. but he just shifted position and lay there trying to catch the 'mouse'! then she took the cover off - oh and oh boy - he was determined to catch that little ball!
then he turned his attention to his 'toys'. they played with them for a while and suddenly this little ginger mouse toy went sailing across the room - and K was doubled up laughing............he had thrown it! they had great fun playing. one of the reasons he loves to see them I think. one of them will always play with him or groom him or give him treats.
I dunno why he ignored the Cats Meow, he usually loves to play with that - I think he was teasing K!

I got up a bit later this morning - it was after 8.00am and I fully expected Barnes to follow me downstairs and demand to be let out. Not so. he stayed in bed - or rather 'on the bed'. lazy so and so didn't get up until gone 9.00 so he missed his little friend going to school. he seemed a bit puzzled when he went out and he sat waiting but she didn't appear - so perhaps his internal 'clock' was on the blink?
he also didn't seem to mind his lunch was a bit late - I went shopping this morning and didn't get back until way after his usual time for lunch and G&T.
talking of shopping, was in B&M and they had these tins of Gourmet 'fisherman delights' on offer. 8 small cans for £2.49. now he loves Gourmet Gold and Perle so picked up a box for him to try. the first one went down well. he can tolerate 'fishy meals' if he doesn't have them too often - so its a 'cheap meal' for him! and something different.

its been quite a sunny day for the most part - clouded over about lunchtime and I did feel a spot of rain. but it brightened up later and Barnes went out for his evening constitutional - upon which it clouded over and started raining. for some reason I thought he was 'in' and OH noticed him under the willow tree - which of course is not in full leaf yet - so 'wet cat' time again! yes, he got towelled off - but this time he voiced his displeasure! LOUDLY! OH laughed -Barnes is getting a bit big for his boots! after 18 months now with us, he is not quite as 'quiet' as he used to be and has no hesitation in letting us know when he is not happy!
I was amused to see that after his towelling off, Barnes decided to lapsit OH, and OH was going 'OOUCHH Barnes' CLAWS! Stop it'! never known him do that before! perhaps he blamed OH for leaving him outside to get wet?

hi nonnie - yes it was the 12th of August 2013 when Atrix asked me to take Barney (or Barnes as he is now more commonly called). I think I had him the next day. and life without him would be poorer that's for sure!
he seems to realise now that his position in our house is permanent and is trying a 'coup' - but I am in charge and not about to give up lightly! I am sure he looks at me and thinks 'Domestic Servant'. after all, I am the one who cleans, cooks and 'does the litter tray'! only joking - he LOVES me really!
he has been lazy again this morning - and doesn't seem to expect his food or G&T until an hour or so after its due...........strange, I thought his internal clock was resetting ok after the clocks went forward. oh well he has another five months before the clocks go back - or perhaps he has decided all this resetting of clocks is nothing to do with him and we can all go by 'Barnes Time'!

I wonder if it's the change in weather making Barnes lazy, Meri. It's like winter here again - rain, hail, even sleet/snow this morning. Tikka refused to get up this morning with us, finally pottered downstairs and had something to eat then tootled back upstairs to sleep. Last week, when it was sunny, she was tearing around the place each morning.

you know what, his missus? I think you are dead right! thinking back, it HAS been since the weather 'cooled'! He is reacting to the temperature changes - and as we don't have the heating on at night, he must be aware its much colder than it was in the early morning.
and its been 'breezy' again - which he hates. he went out this afternoon and a gust of wind nearly blew him across the decking! followed by a right 'squally shower'! so he just turned tail and came on back in again.
I am feeling it too - gone from Tshirt and light cardi back to layers of Tshirts and THICK cardi!
he had another can of the 'fishermans delights' for his supper - and he enjoyed that too! so I may well go back and stock up on a few boxes - at that price I would be mad not to! I need to get a few boxes of brekkies anyway. and some wool, oh and a few other 'bits and bobs now I think of it................oh dear, I really DONT NEED most of it and AM trying to be moneysaving.

Sunny today - but it wasn't at all 'warm'! and I got up about 7.00am - but Barnes declined to surface until gone 9.00 again! by which time his little 'girlfriend' had already gone to school! he still sat there until the parents car returned though. he seemed to sigh and come in for some breakfast. then returned to bed for the rest of the morning! lazy sod!
I have noticed that it doesn't matter where I put my knitting pattern - he sits on it! tried putting it on the footstool - he sits on it.
put it on settee - he sits on it.
put it on my lap - he sits on it! lol - I whipped it out from under him (in the manner of a magician and the 'tablecloth trick') and he realised he was sat on my lap! the look on his face! he very quickly jumped off! rofl
