Grandcat having extended 'sleepover'!

Nonnie - he is such a gentle cat! reminds me of Nicki my second cat. everybody loved HIM too! funny thing is, he was also a ginger and white! sadly he had FIV when I 'found' him - but, we had him for over three years which was three years more than the vet predicted!
Nicki 'lived' downstairs - Barnes has most of the house.
It has been another beautiful day today - April is not like the Aprils I remember! its more like early June! honestly I swear the plants are growing as if they are in the tropics! my peonies are now in bud! unheard of this early in the year! I am a bit worried about the lack of April showers - I do hope it isn't a dry year - already had to use the watering can.
Barnes is loving it though - he spends a LOT of time outside - but, he comes and checks on me every now and then. panics if I am not in my usual seat and comes looking for me. I then get yowled at........ as if to say 'Where were you! how dare you not be there!'
gray/white cat was outside the gate again very early this morning - this time it was just a five minute visit. I don't actually watch ALL day - so he/she may have been back and forth without my knowing.
I can hear OH getting Barnes in for the night - its getting darker now much later and Barnes stays out as long as possible. of course, with his supercatvision dark possibly isn't a good reason to come in, in his mind.0 -
Oh His Missus they really don't like being disturbed do they..I get the same 'look', unfortunately when your having a coughing fit your not really looking out for their comfort, more trying not to choke lol xx
My two haven't really been out much today and chose instead to sleep all day, normally I would be encouraging them out but being a bit snuffly I've just let them be....might suffer for it overnight though eek!0 -
My 3 are loving the sunny weather. They start high on the shed at the bottom of the garden to catch the early morning sun and move round until they're all vying for the last sunny spot on top of the fence at teatime.
They seem a bit clingy this week, maybe because Hubby's away. I woke up this morning with Scrappy asleep on my chest, head on my shoulder and Tikka asleep on my stomach, stretched out to my knees. Half a bed free and they pile on top of me!0 -
my back garden is in shade until about 9.30, then the sun starts creeping up it - until by lunchtime its reached the French doors. (small garden - and I can tell the time usually by where the sun is shining on it! So Barnes accepts the shade and goes to his vantage point to see 'little girl' off to school. either before or after that, he does his perimeter check. chews a few leaves, before coming in for his breakfast.
then its a nice snooze and when the sun finally hits the garden he is out again!
on sunless days he more or less sticks to the routine. just spends a tad more time snoozing indoors.
is it just me - or are there more flies than usual? was out with Barnes this afternoon and they were everywhere! never seen so many out at once..........it was like being at the local tip! mind you, there are some lovely butterflies around and the bees are the size of golf balls!
my aquilegia plants are trying to flower even though they are only 'half grown'. and one plant is in full flower! its spectacular this year, two months ago it barely had any leaves!0 -
I love seeing all the garden starting to come to life but unfortunately as I'm not really 'at one with nature' ie a big wimp, the butterflies, bees and the most of the rest of gods smallest creatures totally terrify me and you'll regularly see me trying to hang washing out inbetween running around the garden or even back into the house to avoid said creatures! As for my arch nemesis the eight leggers, well by gosh I think God really has a sense of humour with those ones, I mean seriously anything with more than 4 legs are totally unnecessary and are only meant to scare me
Well His Missus it must be nice to know your so well loved, but did you actually get much sleep lol xx0 -
lol, I used be scared witless by 'The 8 legged Ones' as a child - when I had my own kids I realised I was infecting them with MY fears and worked hard not to show I was scared - gradually it got so that I could tolerate the 8 leg ones and actually grew to ENJOY a good lightning and thunderstorm. at one point we 'adopted' a spider we called Duncan after a comedian whose catchphrase was 'catch me' - as this spider had a habit of running toward our staffie and then running away! while she watched him in bemusement!!!!
I still cant stand what we call 'daddylonglegs'! I don't scream and dive for cover now - but OH has to catch them and put them outside.0 -
Nonnie, I wasn't quite so loved last night. Tikka was feeling sorry for herself so stayed down stairs. She's picked something up and eaten it (looks like the gristly remains of a bbq chicken leg) and brought it back up rather violently. She seemed fine afterwards, think being sick just shook her.
Scrappy slept outside my bedroom door on the landing. He was in the bad books for peeing in the kitchen in front of me!
Meri, I hate spiders yet daddy longlegs don't bother me in the slightest.0 -
I'm the opposite with my phobia, I remember being a young child and not being frightened and standing next to my younger cousin who was pulling legs from a daddy longlegs and feeling really sorry for it....trigger point came aged 17 when I was blowdrying my hair upside down and lifted my head back up to see a horrible huge (reasonably sized lol) black spider on my white top! Cue 2 solid hours of hitting my chest and crying and generally melting and there arose my awesome phobia. Didn't find the spider that day so moved bedroom as I was literally terrified to go back into my room, 3 years later went on holiday to Australia with one of my brothers for 3 weeks....was back in Scotland on day 7 as I nearly walked into one hanging from a tree in Sydney that was the size of my hand - unfortunately that one's no exaggeration, went straight to doctors, referred to hospital psychologist who kindly told me I would never be cured and to learn to live with it. So roll on 20 years - I managed to cope enough not to scare the kids witless and ds is becoming quite a good spider catcher, other than that the phobia has grown arms and legs and now covers most insects which is a real pain and kind of controls my life in a way, but I keep trying to push through it and hope that eventually something will work, who knows maybe I'll have a pet spider one day :rotfl:
Poor Tikka, she has my sympathies, I hate being sick. Oops to Scrappy, that's just a nightmare but hopefully it was a one off?
Ps meant to say daddy longlegs are totally pointless and there just to scare people when you open the blinds in the morning till you realise that it's on the outside :eek:0 -
What happened to last nights post? I swear I posted - but, its not there. happens a lot lately!
well today was another nice one! sunny and a very gentle breeze.
Barnes seemed fine - happy to be out in garden or snoozing indoors.
When OH came in from work though - he had a different story! lol, he sat waiting for OH to come in through the middle door and started yowling at him! I started to laugh and told him 'please speak to management about complaints, before going over my head and complaining to the boss'! perhaps it was because he went for a drink of water and there was a fly swimming laps in his bowl! but, I dealt with it as quickly as I could - rofl.0 -
I had to fortify myself with a glass or three of wine! it has NOT been a good day for Barnes or myself!
about midday Barnes walked past me and my nose went 'Phewwww'! let him out and he seemed ok.
he came back in and .............oh boy - he stank! on investigation - (and please don't read further if you are eating or have a weak stomach)
he had POO stuck on his bum. a huge lump of it! I tried to use tissues to wipe it off but it seemed to be within a huge lump of fur. a lot of it had dried on, and it caused Barnes to CRY when I tried to remove it..........What to do now?
eventually, I did what I would do with the kids - BATH! got OH to hold his front end and I bathed his back end - took ten minutes at least with a not very happy cat, but I finally got his ARRSE clean! His fur is much longer than I thought - at least four inches and it was NOT a pleasant task! I got him clean - but, I don't want to do that again! so, sorry Barnes but from now on - tummy and 'undertail area' is getting the daily 'groom'.
I don't think I will get forgiven any time soon! I have gotten 'The Glare' every time he is near me and even OH is getting ignored!0
