I hate Windows 8 and I hate Windows 8.1 even more! I wrote my post - pressed reply and 'Page cannot be displayed' so I lost it! arrrrrrrggghhh! I am going to spend tomorrow afternoon getting rid of 8.1 and going back to Win 8. I know it will take hours because miserysoft don't like you going 'back' to an operating system!0
-
anyway - brief synopsis of post. before bluddy 8.1 loses it again!
Barnes spent most of today on settee back.
he has scratched a chunk of fur off his neck even though he DOESNT have fleas!
he got very annoyed with me because OH let him outside without me knowing and I was busy and he must have been out for a couple of hours!0 -
didn't manage to get rid of 8.1 - didn't have enough time. we went looking for some summer bulbs and plants for garden. we lost a lot last winter apparently as not much is coming up. strange - it hasn't been THAT cold! but perhaps they drowned in the rain! found loads of cheap bulbs in Home Bargins and Pound s t r e c h e r.
yay - Barnes has got his toys out again! now I know he is ok! bless him, he got out his 'old faithful' toy, and I filled it with more catnip for him, so he had a blissful session batting it around and licking it.
no grandkids tonight so Barnes had to make do with OH - who is feeling poorly. Manflu. so made him honey and lemon drinks, dosed him with paracetamol and he has gone off to an early bed - with a hot water bottle.
so I guess that I will be the one planting bulbs tomorrow! oh well, perhaps Barnes will 'help' me?0 -
Nope, OH manfully decides to go out and plant bulbs. but, its a beautiful day and Barnes goes out with him to 'supervise'. lol
Barnes went out first thing and 'serenaded' 'hernextdoor'! I yelled at him to SHUT UP! it was awful! rofl - I bet that put her off even more!
ok, its Sunday and mums command appearance - Egg day too!
so after lunch and a knitting session I want to get Barnes in - he doesn't want to come in. I prevail and he comes in - and stomps up the stairs! he sounded like a twenty stone bloke! I look at OH and say 'Jeez, Barnes is just like a stroppy teen'! and we crack up laughing. fully expect him to slam the bedroom door!
Forgiven by the time I get back from mums though. as its suppertime.0 -
oh what a glorious spring day! We have ALL enjoyed the sunshine today! OH painted the fence and planted the rest of the bulbs. Barnes has 'supervised' and I have been in and out - mainly supplying 'Teas, Coffees and Cold Drinks'!
When OH was shifting a surplus conifer to a 'gap', Barnes got out the front. OH swears he didn't leave the front door open - but I don't believe him. the kitchen window was closed so he could only get out the door.
I spent ten minutes then coaxing Barnes out from under OHs works van - sprawled out on the pavement on my tummy. passersby had to step over me! lol. he was not willing to be bribed to come out and looked as if he would bolt out the other side of the van - and the road is not busy exactly - but enough traffic he COULD have got run over. I did manage to coax him to come out though. telling him it was time for G&T and lunch and he could have extra dreamies. Gawd knows what the neighbours thought!
Barnes has a greasy patch on his back now - he could only have got that from the underside of OHs van - which OH vehemently denies! Does he think the underside of his van is 'Pristine Clean'?
GS2 having a sleepover tonight! a rare event as he likes his own bed -but he asked so he was welcome to stay. Barnes will be shut out of bedroom - GS2 is not used to cats sharing his bed!0 -
Hi Meri, have you tried bathing Barnes' eyes with a cold teabag? Used to work wonders on Blackie.
My kitchen floor was covered in white paw prints this morning... they led outside, on the bench, over the fence and into next door's yard. It looks like he's painted one of his walls and the top hasn't dried in time before one of my brood has trampled all over it. Whooops! We'll not be winning Neighbour of the Year 20150 -
Poor you....do you think Barnes secretly enjoyed seeing you beg?? Lol
I'm quite sure my 2 love that and they especially like to make a fool of me outside where lots of people can hear and see me! xx0 -
I will try the cold teabag his missus. I read that its very soothing - I use cucumber myself - but I don't think Barnes will stay still for cucumber therapy!
Nonnie - I think he did! especially as some people had to lift a buggy over me! Nobody asked me what I was doing though! strange, as us Welsh aint half nosy! they probably saw Barnes under the van as they came up the hill. I live on a side street which is quite steep. and gets steeper every year!
oh it has been gorgeous here today! had GS2 until about lunchtime, then his parents collected him and peace from then. I do like my 'just me and Barnes time'. he is more affectionate when we are alone - when the grandkids are around he is more concerned with them! loves kids that cat does. I think he misses that from living with Atrix - he really seems happy when any kids are here. he just doesn't miss the other cats!
Was out in garden with him earlier and remembering how the kids played 'chuckthegravel' I started chucking little bits of gravel near him. he enjoyed batting some away, pouncing on others - but little tiny bits of gravel - he allowed to land on him! weird cat!0 -
I've just got back from the vets with Pixie. She's overgrooming again so had another steroid jab plus some Zyklene? to put in her food for the next 10 days in case it's stress. Vet thinks it is looking more likely that it's an allergy though, although doesn't look like it's fleas as there are no signs of any on her and we treat her regularly.
Could take a while to work out what's going on. Looks like taking out insurance was a very good move...Make £2025 in 2025

an allergy slinky? jeez that can take some 'investigating'. can I suggest you keep a 'food diary' for her. just noting down if she had a 'fish meal' or 'Chicken' or 'Beef' meals. and which brand? just in case its food. and if you regularly shampoo the carpets - is she worse after? or even YOUR washing powder if she 'lapsits'?
OMG - the weather here is wonderful - I even sat outside today without a cardigan on! in APRIL! doesn't normally happen til June at least!
Barnes, of course, was out with me - not allowed in garden now on my own. lol.
I cant believe that the spuds OH put in the 'growbins' are actually sprouting! its less than a week!!
Barnes is still looking for the little neighbour girl twice a day - I HAVE explained to him that she isn't in school...........but, he still watches for her - sweet! He heard the little girl 3 doors up who was out in the garden - and just sat there with his face and ears pointed up towards their garden - with a soppy expression on his face!
wiped his eyes with a cold used teabag today a couple of times - it DID seem a little better after - so will do it again before bed and in morning. thanks his missus!0
