Update on our Pixie, the injection she had last week seems to have had a good effect on her. She's stopped the frantic biting of her fur and the bald/scabby patch is now beginning to show signs of fur growing back. The vet thought she may be allergic to something like fleas (been treated with Advantage regularly and no sign of fleas) or possibly house dust mites. As it happens we had already got somebody booked to clean our carpets and they were done yesterday. Fingers crossed the problem doesn't recur as the jab she had is supposed to be effective for 4-6 weeks.

Haven't seen hide nor hair of the big black cat that was chasing her, so may take the water pistol back to the shop for a refund (it was £15!!)

Slinky, glad to hear Pixie's skin is beginning to heal.

If it is an allergic reaction, could it be to something like a change in washing powder if you've recently washed the bedding maybe?

We thought of all that sort of thing, nothing new on the cleaning materials or diet front.

glad the injection seems to be working Slinky! does pixie go outside? because other insects bite too! or sting. and if pixie goes further than your garden - Lord knows what she could come in contact with?

Third gorgeous day in a row! I would think spring has arrived - but knowing our weather I will reserve judgement!
and I sat outside with Barnes this afternoon, we enjoyed some warm sun and a gentle breeze. and peace................the kids were all in school and nobody had music blaring and windows wide open. Bliss! As the sun descended though Barnes decided it was nicer indoors and I soon joined him!
Barnes has Vets appointment tomorrow for his second immunisation injection. still wondering how on earth I am going to tell if he is sleepier than usual?
He seems to have taken a dislike to one of my rugs - he has been sharpening his claws on it and taking tufts out! While its not an expensive rug - I still don't want him ruining it! a sharp 'Barney no' Doesn't seem to have any affect - suggestions on stopping this please?

Yes she does go outside so it could be any number of things that have set her off including pollen. I think if it starts again after the jab wears off we may have to look at allergy testing for her. Fortunately I do have the highest level of cover for her with Petplan. We've only had her since November so can't judge yet whether she's affected by things seasonally.

Pixie started attacking one of our rugs, would flip the corner up and start bunny kicking at the underside. I started weighting the corner down with a box (it was a rug in front of our fireplace which isn't in a high traffic area). This stopped it while it was there, but as soon as I took the box away, she started again. It's a hand made rug I brought back from Turkey, so in the end I've had to take it up as the only solution to stopping her doing it.

I may try putting it down and squirting it with some spray Feliway as that appears to have some good effect with stopping her scratching at the bottom stair.

Bit different to London! Barney wouldn't be impressed with the weather here.

Oh Meri, no rug advice for you. Tikka always stretches and scratches on our living room rug as soon as we open the door. Feliway has never had any effect on my moggies. I've just given up trying to stop her now.

I think I may just have to fork out for inexpensive rugs now and then! it drives OH nuts though! He doesn't understand why I don't get more angry/upset that Barnes is 'misbehaving'. tbh, Barnes is such a lovely cat in all other ways - I can forgive this, and live with a booby-trapped bath!
Second immunisation jab today - and DOH I completely forgot to pick up his immunisation record card! its isn't a problem though as I have to go back Monday to get his spot-ons - a very embarrassed vet found that they had run out of his dosage. I was right he needed a slightly higher dosage of his wormer and flea treatment and he has put on .04 of a kilo so better to up the dosage than not give him enough.
He was, as usual a very good boy - and he did get a bit of attention in the waiting area.............the only cat among three or four dogs and he wasn't one bit fazed! The dogs all came up for a 'sniff' too - Barnes didn't seem to care at all!
even the vet commented 'he is a lovely calm cat even for a Persian'! as he tries to have a nap while being weighed'! rofl

OH had a shock this morning and had to move pretty quickly. He was sitting on the loo and then Pixie decides to leap on the bathroom windowsill. Next thing OH has to leap off the loo and grab Pixie who was trying to climb out of the fanlight window (bathroom is upstairs!!).

    We're now investigating window restrictors....

lol, slinky! Barnes has never tried the bathroom windows - we often leave them open.

apologies for no post last night! GD1 sleptover and after having a lovely Chinese takeaway for supper and watching 'The Voice' (her choice), we watched a fascinating history programme and were both 'stuffed and shattered' so went to bed!
Barnes was shut out of GD1s room so came in with me. and we played 'whatsthetimeMrWolf' again! I was snuggling down about to drop off and Barnes leaps on the bed by my feet - I look up and he is staring at me, then he drops down, I lay my head down and I FEEL him creeping up the bed.............I look up and look at him and he 'freezes', I lay down and he creeps up the bed again!!!!!!!!! this is becoming a favourite game with him.
this time he comes up and settles down with me cuddling him against me. nice! we have a lovely cuddle for about ten minutes and I am just dropping off - and he decides to lick my arm, on the underside and its a bit 'uncomfortable'. so I move my arm - and he is off! GONE! GAME OVER? strange cat.
