Grandcat having extended 'sleepover'!

So today we have a beautiful morning - Sunny and just a bit breezy. Barnes has his breakfast and out he goes. and comes in five minutes later, then two minutes later wants out again. This carries on for half an hour and I get exasperated, Barnes decides its time to go back to bed!
Peace!
Hour later he gets up and we start it all again - except after the third 'in and out' I shut him in - and he can stare longingly through the French doors - but I aint budging! I get the 'wide eye and pleading look' - nope, not working. I get a plaintive yowl - nope. I get a 'hop onto settee and sit beside me and pat my arm'. lol, NOPE! a disgruntled Barnes goes and sits on kitchen windowsill (in the sun) to people watch instead. Atrix visits for an hour or so - Barnes goes back out after lunch and G&T and stays there! I had to coax him in when I went out later. when I came home he went back out again and it was nearly dark before I went out and got him in (reluctantly as 'hernextdoor' was up in the window).
he must have woken up in a very 'contrary' mood!0 -
Sorry no post last night - I popped on briefly to post in Praise Vent and Warnings and one of the grandgirls then was on puter til bedtime. I then had a nice glass of wine and went on youtube for some 'chilling out music'. Heavy Metal! it relaxes me! so forgot completely about 'Pets'. sorry!
I really hate when clocks go forward! it not only messes up MY internal 'timeclock' , Barnes doesn't understand why I am LATE with everything! and this will carry on for some time until Barnes internal clock adjusts too!
he was sat waiting for his G&T an hour early (breakfast is a 'movable feast' in our house now). he was nagging for his supper early too - now do I give in and MOVE his schedule back an hour? or suffer being nagged for the next few weeks? decisions decisions!0 -
we had a lovely morning weatherwise - until about 3.00pm when it started to rain and got quite windy. Barnes, of course, spent most of the morning napping on settee back and after demanding his lunch and G&T early (which he didn't get, because if I have to adjust to BST, so can he!), decides he really really wants to go outside! nope Barnes, much too wet for Precious Persians who take a chill if they get wet.
I have a nasty horrible suspicion I have shingles again. I have had it a couple of times - always in same place and the itchy/painful feeling is there again. I hope not, as I wont be able to have Ava for a while. I saw her Sunday when it first started but as mum was 'hogging' her - I didn't pick her up or cuddle her. I should know in a day or two - as I will get the 'rash'. or it may just be a random itchy/painful thing!0 -
Barnes has been disinclined to stay out for long again today - VERY blustery and he doesn't like his fur being blown about! its quite funny watching him try to find a sheltered spot - then the disgruntled look when he gives up and comes running to French door to come back in! Bless him - its South Wales Barnes - you have to get used to 'Breezy Weather'!
his eyes are watering a lot though these last few days - I seem to be forever picking him up and wiping his eyes. he doesn't mind that at all.
the itchiness is driving me nuts! definitely shingles even tho no rash as such - just a few blister like pimples. probably because I have had it a few times now. cant scratch because its painful too. just trying to keep my mind off it.0 -
Blumin heck Meri I didn't pick up that you were poorly if your itchy an oatmeal bath (porridge in some old tights) or a bath with some Epson salt might help.0
-
I am OK melly! just got itchy/painful boob and back! a bit under par, but not really 'sick and cant function'.
um - good thing I haven't had to go out as sometimes the itchy boob just HAS to be scratched! strange how an itchy back is acceptable in public but itchy boob isn't?0 -
It is. Seriously oatmeal or Epson bath don't know why it works but it does.
My grinchy boy dog is having some one on one OH time and my greedy the if girl dog is curled up on my lap. OH chose both of them and when we got boy he was bald from half way down his back he was so allergic to fleas I used the porridge baths on him and he took the anger out of his skin after 2 or so it's magic stuff.0 -
Thanks melly - its not so bad today! I have had it a few times now and each time it heals faster! I think my own body is fighting it and getting pretty good at winning!
my Barnes is fleabite allergic - I am insect bite allergic, so I SYMPATHISE! I tend to use bicarb on the bites for myself. I had heard that oatmeal is good - but we use the instant porridge oats in my house - wonder if they would work as well?
Barnes has had a good day weatherwise - wind not too bad so he has spent quite a bit of time outdoors. it only really started to rain about 6 -7 pm? he went out, and came in a bit wet...........squeeking indignantly and immediately ran upstairs..........yes he knew the towel would be employed. OH thought it funny - and found it even funnier that I chased Barnes round the house and finally caught him and towelled him off! Orange Dandelion Cat!
Barnes wasn't happy though - but at least he doesn't blame OH. they are on settee watching tv - as usual!0 -
a boring day again! OH had day off so went shopping earlier than usual - forgot it was Good Friday tomorrow - the supermarket was very busy! no matter - I got my 'usual' shopping plus the eggs for Sunday. now I just have to get a little something for Ava as she is too young for chocolate.
and cats don't eat chocolate so picked up an extra pack of Aldees dreamielookalikes. and more treat sticks. and forgot to get Brekkies from local shop - but, he does have a fair bit of dry food left.
Barnes eyes are still a bit 'weepy', I think I may try bathing them in a saline solution, they are not usually as bad as this. Though it is a problem with Persians apparently. I wonder if cats get 'hay fever'? his nose has been a bit runny too. or perhaps he has caught OHs cold?
the last couple of days he hasn't played with any of his toys. that's not like him - yet he is eating and drinking normally. Poohs normal, Pees normal and is going out in garden and generally being himself - perhaps he needs NEW toys! So I wont be rushing him to the vets! like the neurotic mad catwoman I am turning into! I swear I was far more 'Blahzay' with the kids! OH says I mollycoddle him - not HIM! Barnes! I think I mollycoddle BOTH of them! lol.0 -
I bet that cats do get hay fever, dd goes to horse riding and the poor horse that she usually rides suffers really badly with it....or maybe he has man flu lol. Hope he's better soon xx0
