well Barnes managed an hour or so outside this morning - then it started drizzling. Not the downpour the weather report led me to expect - but still wet out. so he has spent most of the day napping! I asked him, 'What on earth am I going to post about tonight?' and got ignored!
So, will tell you about his strange 'Privacy Policy' instead.
He quite happily grooms his 'nether regions' wherever he is. he quite happily uses his litter trays even if we are in the bathroom, BUT - DO NOT stare, or even look at him when he is eating! if he feels your eyes on him he will stop eating, look accusingly at you and walk away from his food. This doesn't apply for Treats of course!
My last two cats hated you being around when they used the litter tray - Barnes doesn't mind one iota! in fact, he will 'smile' at you!
Strange isn't it - you think you know 'cats' then one will turn everything around. and you realise they are as individual as humans.

This made me smile. Our old family cat used to look embarrassed when using the litter tray if people were in the same room...yes embarrassed! He'd try to avoid it until we'd go out of the room. A friend's cat will happily stare at whoever's in the room when using it's tray. Funny things!

Tikka's had two teeth removed after her de-scale but the vet. nurse says she's fine and we can pick her up after 6pm.

I reckon we're either going to be in her bad books for a few days or she's going to be extra loving. Either way, I bet she milks it!

Do cats have Tooth fairies? perhaps Tikka will find a couple of treats under her pillow?

Sorry no post last night - OH got a call out about 6.30 then rang me to say he had another three calls to deal with and wouldn't be home til midnight! so took advantage of being in charge of the TV, and me and Barnes watched 'Paranormal' programmes on REaly! Tucked up under one of my crochet blankies (me not Barnes), and made inroads into the box of chocs DD left with me for Mothers Day. pure luxury! even had the fire going full blast, so was 'WARM' for a change!
Barnes was draped over me - my thigh must resemble a tree branch - and he seemed to enjoy it too. I even got some dreamies for him to have some treats too.
Rainy today but it didn't put him off going outside - he just sat under the leafless mini-willow again. and got towelled off again when he came in! which makes me laugh as his fur sticks out, so he gets in a huff, goes off upstairs and when he comes back down, I know he has been grooming like mad as he is all 'sleek' again!

sorry - OH out again last night! I rarely watch TV at night, so Barnes and I had Blankie and TV time again! I think he was a bit puzzled - he always watches TV with OH in the evening, and he seemed a bit put out he had me instead. a few dreamies brought him round and he seemed quite content to lay along my leg and devour the occasional dreamie while I had the 'occasional' Thorntons chocolate!
I did manage to leave a good few chocolates for 'Mothers Day'. But it was a good job we went shopping today as his 'dreamies' were seriously depleted! good thing he loves the Aldee version - bought another couple of packets but they were right out of his food pouches! wth? another trip to PAH if they haven't had them in soon as he will only eat those or shepa or gormet pearl.

Tikka is most annoyed that she is not allowed out at least until Wednesday (when she has a check up) maybe for as long as 10 days though.

She's on antibiotics and painkillers which up until today she'd happily take in sardines. Not so this morning!

How do you explain to a cat that if she doesn't take the meds, she won't get better and be able to go out?

There is no reasoning with cats his missus. you can talk til your blue in the face but - they want what they want, when they want it - and you are a bad catmummy if you don't do as they want!
just hide the tabs in something else? use one of those pill thingys that look like syringes? (I had to use one of those with first cat Timmy as I was afraid for my fingers!)

well it was dry but cloudy this morning so Barnes did have some garden time. Peeed down this afternoon though -despite weather people saying it would be drizzle at most.
Had Ava though after lunch, and Barnes was really sweet with her. he finds her quite interesting now. he sat and watched her have her bottle, and patted her leg very gently. when I put her on the floor for a play - he kept circling her and watching her intently. later when I was cuddling her he came up and sat beside me - just watching her and when she fell asleep he curled up on her feet! I did warn him she would probably kick him, and when she did, he just shifted away a little, looked at her and smiled and settled back down again!
I think he is a bit of a softy! he loves kids and I suspect he is beginning to love babies too. he seems to see Ava as a novelty and is interested in her. Not sure, but I think he hasn't come across babies before? Atrixs kids were well past the baby stage, when he had Barnes, and there weren't any in the family then.

Meri, Tikka has to take metacam (sp?) which I measure out with a syringe and the vet said I could put it straight in her mouth. She may have a few teeth missing but boy she can clamp that mouth shut firm!!!

We're giving her the stuff in leftovers now, I hope she can come off it after tomorrow's visit.

it was a beautiful day today - was even warm enough for me to go out and sit in the garden myself!
Barnes accompanied me of course. I was wondering why he was lying on his back on the gravel and making these twisting, twitching movements - then realised the gravel was acting as a 'back-scratcher'!
Tuesday so the grandgirls were here - and after some time in the garden they came in, and were watching TV, 'Riverdance in Beijing'. they were fascinated. then this woman started singing (sounded like a lament) and Barnes sat up, stared at the tv and yowled! not once but quite a few times. The girls and I found that really funny - perhaps he was joining in, or he found it really dire!

his missus - I hope Tikka is off the meds tomorrow then!

another lovely day - but when I went out I felt a bit of a chill in the air. Barnes was enjoying it though. I have noticed that by 3.30 most days he sits by the gate watching intently through it...........Doh, suddenly realised why.........that's the time the lady in the house just opposite and across arrives home with her DD from school! I heard a child say 'Hi Pusspuss'! and realised Barnes is watching out for her each day! and he usually is out in the garden in the morning............so perhaps he sees her getting in the car to go to school?
For the first time Barnes took some toys outside! We did his G&T and he went out for a sunbathe on the decking then came in and rooted around in his toy basket, I didn't take much notice as I was knitting - but he took the 'cigar shape thingy' outside and was playing on the decking with it, he got bored with that so came in and picked up his favourite 'mousethatsreallyahedgehog' and dropped it outside his basket (intrigued now I watched him), he looked at it, looked outside then rooted in his basket again and came up with 'gingermouse' and took THAT outside! he played with those, batting them round the decking for a while then had a nice nap in the sun. Yes it was up to me to return them to his toy basket!

Tikka is still on the metacam (vet said to use it up) but she's allowed to go out. We put her collar back on this morning and she just spent half an hour running in and out through the catflap. I think she wanted to stay out but it was quite frosty this morning.

I wish my kitties would play with toys. The now manky white mouse toy still moves around the house so someone is playing with it but we never see who.
