I think he's totally adorable, and I'm sure that everyone who reads your thread would love to have their very own barney! xx0

Oh meri, how I wish our vet would comment on how calm my cats are at the vets. Blackie was the only one who ever "enjoyed" going and would wander straight out of his carrier for a fuss. When we had our first cat Freddie, the vet asked if he was named after Freddie Kruger!
Slinky, Scrappy once jumped out of our bedroom window. Thankfully, he landed on the roof of the porch then eventually jumped off onto the lawn.
Bought some toys from PaH this weekend, a new range with catnip in (I had a 3 for 2 voucher) and Tikka loves them. I've never seen her so playful.0 -
nonnie - they cant have him! he is mine! or rather I belong to him!lol - he IS special though - everyone who meets him loves him.
his missus - first cat Timmy once jumped out of the front bedroom window because he spotted a Labrador he liked to torment! he sailed over mine and DDs heads (we were in garden) and it looked like he was paragliding, he started running BEFORE he hit the ground, hurdled the garden wall and then we heard yelps! we rushed up to rescue the poor dog (his name was Winston - a rather dim yellow lab who was scared to death of Timmy)! that cat was the scourge of the street - everybody hated him! how he survived till the age of twelve was a mystery to me.
OK - so I pop up vets to collect the wormer tabs and the spot-ons they didn't have - and they still didn't have the spot ons in! the reception nurse found me an odd one as he was overdue for de-fleaing and I asked for four wormers. I nearly fainted when I got told the total - it was twice what I paid last time! I queried it and was told the price last time was an error.........okayyyyyyyyyy. paid this time but will be checking out the online price later.
Got home and I don't know what made me check as Barnes had been given a worming tab by the vet on Friday..........but there was only two tabs in the pack. Phone them and they say to go back up. Fair play, they did hand me two more as soon as I walked in - but the vet who had seen Barnes on Friday was there and said 'Did you eat them on the way home'? rofl! I laugh and say I don't need worming, but if I did I would eat Pripsen not Milbemax!
I still cant work out how the Milbemax were so expensive - I calculate that if I took off the cost of the jab - that tablet was about £3. 35 so how come four cost me £25?
I apply Spot on and Barnes decides to make a fuss about it tonight! I usually do it when doing his G&T and he takes no notice. Tonight he has a 'strop'. Stalks off, hides under the stairs, and then dashes upstairs. Uh oh! gets out packet of Dreamies and shake it - nope he aint budging. cajoles him, nope! Shakes dreamies and cajoles - he condescends to come down a few stairs, so I go up a few and offer a dreamie at arms length. he sniffs it and decides to take it. a few dreamies later I think I have been forgiven. he is now cwtched up with OH watching tv.
came back cos I used a Welsh word - and rather than change it I will translate it for you!
Cwtched - the 'W' is pronounced like the 'oo' in Cook in English Received Pronounciation.
Cwtched in this instance means 'cuddling up'.
it can though mean 'to cwtch' - to 'hide' something.
its a common command for dogs - 'go cwtch', or just 'Cwtch' - go back to sleeping place and settle down.
or you can ask for a 'cwtch' - a quick hug.0 -
I spent most of the day down the hospital with Mum - about her cataract. Exhausting! I absolutely HATE that place! her consultant was lovely though, and she has been scheduled for surgery, he explained everything in detail and I bellowed it so mum could hear (and probably everyone waiting), so at least we didn't leave mystified as to what happens next!
Poor Barnes had a VERY late lunch - good thing he always has dry food available - I noticed that quite a bit was gone. and he seems to have tried to 'make up lost garden time' afterwards - hardly been indoors since I got back. So not much really to say about our precious Barnes today.0 -
Lovely day again today! Barnes was out in the garden as soon as he had his breakfast - and I was watching him and he DOES sit by the gate until the little girl across the lane goes to school! then he ambles around, watches the birds, checks for 'younextdoor', sniffs some flowers (Yes, seriously, he does!), and generally enjoys being OUT!
Atrix called in and Barnes was pleased to see him - but, Atrix was on a mission. I mentioned a few weeks back my ground floor carpets all needed a good clean! so we researched some carpet shampooers. all the reviews pointed to a Vax cleaner - but at £399! jeez - cheaper to buy new carpet! (I know a very cheap carpet warehouse where offcuts are silly prices).
so today Atrix tells me about the MSE discount on Vax cleaners - and the one I wanted is on sale at £139! +PP.
well it would cost that to have the ground floor and stairs professionally cleaned! So we have ordered one! THANKS MSE!
if anyone else is interested there are some real bargains to be had - just click the Vax link on the MSE forum home page - follow the links and USE the discount code to take you to the sale page.
its a bit of a palaver - but to save over £200?????????? no brainer.
I left my dressing gown on the end of the bed last night and Barnes must have slept on it - because when I shifted him to put it on - the sleeve was sopping wet! cat drool?
I was going to do a Barney shop tonight - but poor OH has a rotten cold - he has a few Aldee pouches and the local shop had some Sheba mini pouches he likes and boxes of Brekkies (he loves Brekkies - he isn't that fussy with his dry food but he dives into brekkies as if they are dreamies). so I can leave the Barney shop until OH is feeling a bit better.0 -
Yeah to the vax bargain and boo to the cat drool! Hope ur oh is feeling better soon xx0

Scrappy is back on the Ovarid. Thought we'd cracked it, stopped it and then he started overgrooming again
Tikka is still loving her new toys. One of the mice had somehow made it upstairs and she was actually sat at the bottom meowing pathetically (like she does when she realises she's going to the vets, all forlorn but knowing there is no hope)0 -
oh dear - poor Scrappy! Tikka thought the mouse could come downstairs on its own? lol - Barnes is convinced his toys put themselves back in his toy basket, I think.
Barnes took himself off on an 'adventure' today. He got out of the kitchen window (again), but this time I didn't notice him getting out and only realised he was gone when I saw he wasn't in or in back garden.
I went out the front with his packet of dreamies shook them and called his name repeatedly. Nothing.
Went out the back and did it again and this time heard a faint 'yoooowwwwlllll). called again and it was definitely Barnes, trotting down the lane and he came to the gate, I opened it and then had to resist telling him off for worrying me, and praise him and feed him dreamies. it was nearly time for G&T anyway - so did that and gave him his favourite sheba pouch.0 -
That faint yowl was probably Barnes saying "whaaaat?" to you
I imagine cats to be/think like stroppy teenagers, mine certainly do.
At least he didn't wander far and came back when you called0 -
lol his missus - there is a theory that all Cats have Aspergers! well I am used to dealing with that! Son has it, grandson has it and granddaughter has it. not to mention the granddaughter with ADHD! I am used to stroppy kids/teenagers and at least cats don't go out clubbing or drive around in OHs car!
yes - he replied when he heard me call - or maybe when he heard the rattle of dreamies packet. and thought 'Oh wow! G&T time already?'0
