My poor Pixie is being bullied by a big black cat that has followed her to the cat flap a couple of times. She's come in and screamed at it as it looks in at her, I've shouted at it and it still doesn't clear off. I stuck my foot out through the cat flap at it and it stuck its claws in my slipper!

She's taken to overgrooming and has a huge bald patch above her tail, we're mainlining Feliway to no great effect.

I've lined up a rape alarm for the next time it visits. Somebody will be deafened (probably me). If that doesn't work, we've bought a waterpistol.

Slinky, that's why Scrappy is on Ovarid again. A black & white Tom kept attacking him and he started overgrooming. He's had a couple of nasty bite marks that have got infected too. The Ovarid does help, maybe worth asking your vet about it.

He seems to have bouts which seem to be triggered by the reappearance of the Tom. He'll be fine for a few months and then we start again!

well, after we have had a rather boring day - Barnes has decided to become 'skittish' tonight! Every time I have gone near him he has departed at top speed! I cant think what I may have done to him! I haven't trod on his tail, haven't closed the bathroom door (denied him access to litter trays), I haven't tried to brush his tummy, I haven't fed him strange foods, I haven't done ANYTHING unusual! and he is giving me these strange LOOKS! Now I can remember first cat Timmy doing that - but he was just a nutter of a cat. So can only conclude Barnes is having some sort of 'mad half hour' (only its been more like two or three hours). of course its OHs 'on call' week which tends to unsettle him, but not on the first day! its usually on the Wednesday or Thursday Barnes seems to notice his routine has been disrupted and his TV buddy is absent. and OH is sat right there and hasn't even had a callout yet!
Do you think Barnes has read the calendar and knows he is due for his spot-ons and wormers? which I actually forgot to get tonight! DOH - will have to get OH to pop me up to the vets in the morning. I should really 'DO' him on Wednesday. Barnes I mean - NOT OH!

Well Pixie has been to the vets today and has been given a depo medrone injection to try and isolate whether the cause is itchy skin rather than stress. Fingers crossed it has some effect in the next week otherwise she could be seriously bald.

I hope it works slinky! Poor Pixie.

Barnes seems to have got over whatever was causing his strange behaviour last night. Today he has been his normal self. Its been a beautiful spring day today, brilliant sunshine, blue sky and quite warm. so he had a lovely sunbathe on the decking.
His TV buddy is missing tonight - got called out a couple of hours ago. so he isn't watching TV from a nice warm lap - he is napping on the settee back.
Tuesday so the grandgirls were here earlier, he loves to see them and squeeks with real pleasure when they come in. he greets them lovingly by rubbing against them. bless him!

well Barnes managed an hour or so outside this morning - then it started drizzling. Not the downpour the weather report led me to expect - but still wet out. so he has spent most of the day napping! I asked him, 'What on earth am I going to post about tonight?' and got ignored!
So, will tell you about his strange 'Privacy Policy' instead.
He quite happily grooms his 'nether regions' wherever he is. he quite happily uses his litter trays even if we are in the bathroom, BUT - DO NOT stare, or even look at him when he is eating! if he feels your eyes on him he will stop eating, look accusingly at you and walk away from his food. This doesn't apply for Treats of course!
My last two cats hated you being around when they used the litter tray - Barnes doesn't mind one iota! in fact, he will 'smile' at you!
Strange isn't it - you think you know 'cats' then one will turn everything around. and you realise they are as individual as humans.

Totally agree! My wee girl won't use her covered litter tray (so I really can't see her anyway) if you are in same room and won't eat if you are watching her or moving about or being noisy....on the other hand Sam couldn't care less who is watching him whatever he is doing (unless it's a stranger as he shoots upstairs and hides then) xx

I have a covered litter tray hidden under the stairs but when Tikka's used it she will come out into the kitchen and start scratching at the floor, mimicking what she does in the tray as if to say, "I'm done now, clear it out please!"

Tikka's been dumped at the vets this morning. They're not sure if she'll need any teeth extracted until they scrape off the tartar build up. Wish I could get her to eat biscuits as it would keep her teeth cleaner.

I'm certainly not going to attempt to brush them!
