Grandcat having extended 'sleepover'!
Comments
-
well no Atrix - I hadn't previously been looking for pet brushes or human brushes! on Works or any site!
sorry - really tired tonight as I had Ava and her bro for a sleepover last night. I was told that Ava likes a feed at 4.00am, so woke at 2.00. 4.00 and 6.00 and Ava (bless her) hadn't stirred! she slept right through!
Ive just go another two grandgirls settled and asleep and Barnes is up there with them.
Barnes wasn't happy last night as I wouldn't let him sleep with Ava and her bro. tough - DS1 would have gone nuts if he had known cat was in bedroom and DGS2 isn't used to Cats in room - his dog takes him to bed!0 -
Girls slept well - GA didn't wake until about 9.00 and K slept til gone 10.00! that is almost unheard of for K. Barnes spent most of the night in with them - he surfaced when he heard me get up at about 8.00.
I think I have been forgiven for not letting him sleep with Ava and her brother.
I am really tired, I seem to have spent most of this week either babysitting 'for an hour' or so (which normally turns into three hours) or having them for sleepovers. so I am going to go read a book and relax with a nice cuppa and a bowl of healthy snacks (fruit).
Barnes has had his G&T and we played catchthedreamies at his usual time - he has had lovely long kid time today, his supper has been put down for him - but he is watching TV with OH. and an early night for everyone I think!0 -
What a day weatherwise today! we have had the lot! Sunshine, showers of rain, hail, sleet and (briefly)snow! not to mention thunder and lightening! half expecting a hurricane - but the wind did get up quite strongly for a few minutes then weirdly died down for an hour or so, before gathering forces for another 'blast'.
Barnes did go out in the sunshine and as usual came in just before it rained or hailed. he hates hail - and makes sure he gets as close to me as possible. not sure how he thinks I can protect him or why I need to when he is indoors?
I decided to switch to crochet today - got loads of half balls of wool so decided to make a blanket for GS2 to snuggle under when watching TV. Barnes is used to me knitting - and watched intently as I started crocheting - I think he was wondering how you knit with just one short needle, lol.
OH suggested I knit or crochet a pad for Barnes to lie on - is he nuts? Barnes claws get stuck in knitted stuff!
Atrix came in so asked him if Vets do claw clipping..........he says yes its about £10 - that's ok. Atrix thinks like I do that Barnes has had a bad experience with claw clipping - poor cat gets very stressed and he takes it out on the offender! not physically - but he makes it very plain he is Pussed off with you!0 -
weather not as changeable as yesterday - and even though it seemed freezing out Barnes spent much of the day in the sunshine on the decking. while I put the fire and central heating on full-blast! I just cant seem to get warm today! good thing I am crocheting a 'blankie' and not a baby bonnet, it helped keep me from turning into an icicle!
I HAVE to get him up vets to get claws clipped - I keep finding clumps of fur scattered about! but what's strange is - its only the 'white' fur - never the ginger fur!
the brush I ordered arrived today - and its far larger than I thought it would be - you could groom a horse with it! didn't come in time for G&T so will try it tomorrow - see if it works anyway.0 -
I know this is way way way late on the discussion of brushes, but I use my hair brush on my moggy. I mean the same brand, not actually the same brush, though I did try mine out with him to begin with, then bought him one! It kinda almost massages him, whilst catching loose fur, and any knots, but he is mid length fur.
It's a tangle teezer, so it's got a nice hand fit and supposedly does tangles. It works lovely with my hair, and his fur, but they're not overly cheap. However I had been through numerous brushes, and this by far has lasted at least 2 years now for my own, and still looks as good as new.
If you do ever try it, don't get the full size one, they're stupidly sized in my opinion, get the mini/compact one, which fits in the hand better.

Thanks lifeforms - just had a look and will keep it in mind. I tried the cheap one from the Works today and Barnes seemed to enjoy it (the other one seemed to hurt him). it seems to get through the undercoat but doesn't scratch the skin. I cant see it lasting long though - it feels a bit 'flimsy', but we shall see. the tangleteezer may work out more cost effective, or if his fur continues to thicken, I may need to get one anyway! so thanks very much!
A nice day today - so Barnes has spent most of it outside. frequent checks on the gate and younextdoors window - and the scrap van came up the back lane with the guy using the loudhailer, so that had him running in and hiding upstairs - he was just an orange streak going past me at warp speed! lol
have to do a Barney shop this weekend - got about 5 days left of his supplies - hope they have his favourites in!0 -
Vets tomorrow morning - Barnes has been booked in for a booster and claw clip. and I am like a nervous mummy - honestly I wasn't as bad as this with the kids!
Barnes is blissfully unaware of course, and has had a nice day. Atrix popped in for coffee and a cuddle with Barnes. then the sun came out so he went out most of the afternoon. lord, he spent most of the morning gazing wistfully out of the French doors and looking accusingly at me. If I had the power I would gladly stop it raining! and switch the sun on!
I must remember to look up date he last had spot-on and wormer - the vet is sure to ask. and tell them that he doesn't like to be held like normal cats - he prefers it on his back being cuddled like a baby...........oh dear, now I sound like crazy cat lady!0 -
In 'normal' cat world you are perfectly sane to me! xx0

hi slinky - no, no cattery near us.
Barnes had his vet visit and was a really good cat! he has put on about half a kilo since his last visit. and he allowed the vet to give him his injection without even flinching! he has to have another in three weeks as I wasn't sure when he last had one - Atrix said that when he had him he was told he had had his booster, but that was over two years ago - and better to be safe than sorry, especially as he is now an Indoor/Garden cat.
and he was so good when the vet was clipping his claws! much calmer then when I or OH does it.............he must have known there was a 'professional' doing it - or he had previously only had good experiences with claw cutting at the vets. he really doesn't seem to mind being there! in fact, he settled down for a snooze on the scales, lol!
The vet could still hear a heart murmer though (I was hoping that it was because he was so ill last time) and it needs to be monitored although not affecting him right now.
he has been his usual self since - vet did say he may be sleepy - um, how can you tell with cats? if they aren't doing anything they SLEEP!
had Ava for a short while and she was still in her carrier when Barnes came over to 'have a sniff' at her, and she back-handed him right in the mush! he just looked startled and sat about a foot away from that mean right fist! lol, she didn't mean to I am sure - she was just waving her arms around signalling she wanted OUT of the carrier!0
