Yeah, my Chuckles (aka Dillon) does a sword swallowing act too! Barnes is gorgeous. Furbs (aka Arthur) does the catch a treat. They only hunt together occasionally and only Furbs will do the eating.0

hi notisis. I am wondering now what to teach Barnes - wonder if he will do 'Sit and Stay'? lol, probably not!
For some reason today has felt very long............different to a normal Sunday because OH on call I think. Woke up early cos he had an early morning call out and the day has dragged since. Barnes is finding this milder weather much more to his liking, so has spent quite a bit of time outside. it took him ages to inspect 'his' perimeter this morning - the plants did need some attention and one or two required 'pruning'. He does this by chewing off any leaves. Then a couple of magpies had the temerity to land on 'his' roof and he watched them intently for a good quarter of an hour. probably hoping they would come down and get within range of a stealth attack. Except Barnes thinks 'stealth' is him hiding behind a bare bush, oblivious to the fact he can be seen quite plainly!0 -
another loooooonnnnng day! OHs fault - he was called at 4.00AM and was bellowing down the phone!!!!!!!!!! yelled at him to shut up and Barnes chimed in with a long yowl! Hope we didn't wake the neighbours! then he clattered around the kitchen getting his porridge, making tea, doing his lunchbox etc. managed to get a bit more snooze time in when he left, but, it wasn't the same as the deep slumber I was in - and Barnes was in apparently, as he decided to prowl around and jump on and off my bed. gave up around 6.00 and got up myself.
The sun really must have warmed up the decking around lunchtime, as Barnes found himself a warm spot and sunbathed! he spent most of the afternoon out in the garden. he soon came in as the sun went down though!
Poor OH - he didn't come in until 8.00pm - he must be shattered. still, 'ON CALL' is over now for another 4 weeks! not that I object to him being on call in principle - cant have people going without water - but sometimes the company takes the P.
Barnes is getting used to it now - he seems quite philosophical about not having his TV buddy around. he just naps instead.0 -
Good luck trying to teach Barnes to sit and stay
Scrappy is back on the Ovarid. The vet seems to think a flea bite aggravating his skin has started off his latest bout of riving his hair out. I think it was an excuse for the vet to try and flog me overpriced flea treatment!
He started pulling his hair out after he'd been left alone overnight when we stayed over at mum's on her birthday so I'm blaming that.
He's off to Grandma's for the weekend so that should cheer him up0 -
hi his missus - well Barnes does sit and stay quite nicely - as long as I haven't asked him to do it!
poor Scrappy - I still suspect he is doing it almost as a feline equivalent of 'self harming'.
lol, I get these visions of you telling Scrappy 'want a sleepover at grandmas'? then packing his bag .....................
Atrix came down today and didn't stay very long and after he left I fancied a pastrami wrap for lunch. with green salad. so I happened to glance in the kitchen and Barnes was sitting on the windowsill happily munching on my punnet of 'growing salad' ((its cress - why is it called growing salad by supermarkets?). I ran for the camera - but by the time I had grabbed it and ran to kitchen - he was innocently looking out of the window! when I think that I had some yesterday and the day before - I don't whether to laugh or feel a bit sick!
I really don't want to share it with Barnes! The punnet has now been binned!0 -
Meri, my mum called on Monday evening, had her on speakerphone and she said, "I know you said you'd bring Scrappy over on Thursday but.." and Scrappy jumped off my lap with his head hung low as if to say "Aw, can't I go now?" She just wanted to ask me to come over after 8pm lol.
Like a grandchild, he knows he'll get spoilt at my mum's and even though I've bought him Sheba fresh pouches (they're mini - only 50g each!) as a treat, she'll still buy him something extra.
Hmmm...maybe Barnes is on a diet, gotta look after the figure if he wants to impress the females. Has the little black been back since?0 -
Those Sheba mini pouches are devoured by Barnes - he loves them! and they do come in handy if he is having a 'hungry' day. he normally gets a full size pouch (current favourites are Sheba, Gourmet Gold Perle and Vitacat), for his lunch and supper and dry food is available all day. for a fussy cat he really doesn't mind what brand dry food he has - so I get what I find on 'offer' or failing that, he will eat Brekkies or Go Cat. he IS fussy about water though - it has to be clean and fresh - changed about three times a day! his food bowls are huge.................Don't tell him, but they are dog bowls - small bowls cant 'accomodate' his flat face and he cant get to food in a straight sided small cat dish.
he also likes a bit of 'salad' - usually any leaves in the garden - he enjoys a good chew of them.0 -
My cats' water bowl is actually a metal balti dish from the £1 shop.
Mine are quite into Asda's Select pouches at the moment though they're also happy with Asda Tiger pouches too. They do go through phases though.
When Scrappy goes on holiday I usually buy him Sheba as a treat. I can't afford to feed 3 cats Sheba though0 -

its been fairly nice today - some sunshine this afternoon, so Barnes took advantage of it and did a bit of sunbathing again.
gave him a worming tablet, I took a chance and hid it in his treat stick. he didn't notice it, so that went down ok! he had his spot-on yesterday so he is 'done' for another four weeks. and the way he is eating I definitely will have to get him accurately weighed when I get his supply of spot-ons and wormers. (Its cheaper to buy four months supply at a time).
I may ask how much they charge for claw clipping, its a job I absolutely hate. not very MSE to pay someone to do it, but honestly, it makes me a nervous wreck!0
