    hi scaredy_cat!
    I was thinking 'pingponguppastairs' too.

sorry for no post last night - I got deep into a book and didn't put it down til gone midnight!
been so busy today - and tummy playing up too. Barnes has been a good boy, he went out this morning convinced it was summer again because the sun was shining brightly out of a blue sky, then huddled against the Plant Pot shivering - but he wouldn't come in as he was staring at the gate................probably looking for Blackcat.
he only had very brief trips into the garden after that - mostly down to the gate then back in again!
I think he has exchanged one hopeless love for another!

not a bad day weatherwise! Barnes was in and out - but when Atrix came down to finish doing his letter I forgot Barnes was outside and left hi there for a good hour! oh boy, was HE ANNOYED! rofl its a wonder my carpet wasn't ripped to shreds, he was sharpening his claws on it and glaring at me.
we were just printing out Atrix's letter when I ran out of ink - dam and blast it! - I will have to get OH to pop me over town tomorrow before he goes to work. and as he is on call this week I may have to catch the bus.
we were too busy to film Barnes today - perhaps tomorrow if Atrix can spare the time.

Sorry I haven't managed to post the last few days....it's been slightly bedlam, was getting a new bathroom fitted last week and it seems to have been one disaster after another....no shower since last Sunday, however we do have a separate bath so we're not too smelly lol just really weird having to have a bath in the morning instead of a shower ifkwim? Poor hubby is 6ft 2" and doesn't really do baths as he doesn't quite fit so it's been hard going for him. However tonight the shower has been siliconed (for the 3rd time!) and hopefully we'll be able to use it tomorrow night.

But onto Barnes...omg I'm totally in love with him!! He is adorable and my kids loved him as well, I can quite easily see how he has fitted right into your heart and what a wee star he is with his dreamies, he is fab!

Will look forward to any other YouTube videos coming our way xx
  • Hello :j

Have been off work recently due to health problems & not been able to do much but read MSE! Have loved reading your thread, made it all the way through!! Not got a cat myself (BF's allergic, it's him or a cat and I've chosen him...for now) but growing up we always had them & Barney's antics have brought back some lovely memories.

    He's such a cutie!

Hi Wantobeasaver! Welcome! feel free to assume 'ownership' of Barney. 'Virtually' I mean! a sort of 'honorary' auntie/uncle - not just you but the other 'fans' out there.
Sorry to hear that you aren't well. hope its temporary, and that you feel better soon. and if Barnes has helped cheer you up then posting for him every evening has been worth it.
I am impressed that you have read all the way through - I don't think I have time to do that - but, thinking back to his early days with me............I am sure I would see a real change in him. Atrix thinks so and doesn't regret passing him on to me.
and YES he IS a real cutie! everybody loves him.

So today Barnes again squirmed onto my lap - and I was knitting, and he actually bit my knitting needle and wouldn't let go!!!!! rofl - so we had a play, and then he was quite content to go back to his perch on settee. he obviously thinks that knitting is taking my attention away from him. which it does, as I can go into a 'meditation state' when knitting.
jeez - he was hungry today! fed him his pouch for his lunch and by about 4.00 he was asking for another. he waits until I go in kitchen then goes and sits by his bowl - he always has dry food and is usually content to graze on that. so I gave him a mini pouch and he was ready for his supper (another full size pouch) by six! which had me checking the calendar to make sure he has been wormed.........which he has. perhaps he is just hungry today?

I hate when OH is on call! he is in and out at all hours and I have to provide food at odd times! so puts me out of routine!
and Atrix is dealing with a complicated issue right now - which I am helping him with, and I am TRYING to knit two different projects - one of which isn't working out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Barnes did the crawling on my lap and biting the end of the knitting needle today again! I got the message and we played with his toys for a while. Satisfied, he has 'napped' all day! and ate - I am sure I refilled his dry food bowl this morning - but its nearly empty! oh well - healthy appetite - healthy cat? and sorry if this is TMI, but his poos are huge! I wondered if there was a Great Dane using his litter tray this morning. ALL the litter was mounded up at one end! lol.

Barnes shot downstairs this morning - and nearly ran into the French doors - I let him out and he ran down to the gate - but BlackCat wasn't there. a very dejected Barney came back in. I felt for him. He aint very lucky in love the poor dear.
  • Lovely to read about Barnes and that he melted into your hearts. Was nice to read your blog at the moment to keep my mind off things as my black cat Jigger has been missing 3 weeks yesterday.

welcome gallifreyangirl! Sorry to hear that Jigger is missing - I hope he turns up soon.

Grandgirls sleeping over so just settled them down with Barneys help. its all quiet up there - sleeping like angels!

Barnes has had a quiet day - another sunny one, but bitterly cold in the wind. so he hasn't stayed out long. like me, he is quite content to stay in the warm!

Grandgirls went home at about 11.00 this morning - but they were up at about 8.00! OH woke everyone up getting ready for work. Fer crissakes, that man makes more noise making microwave porridge!!!!!!!!!! at least its not just me who gets woken up!
Atrix - the girls had 'proper' porridge! except for K who wanted an omelette. busy kitchen this morning, lol. still and improvement on YOU! I remember cooking spag bol for your breakfast many a morning!
Barnes had dry food, fresh water and cuddles!
he went out, but soon came back in to see what the kids were up to. he was delighted to play catchthedreamies with C.
He seemed a bit lost after they left and wouldn't leave me alone. crawled onto my lap, yowled in my face, dug his claws in my thighs........ouch! Did G&T a bit early, gave him his lunch, and he still wouldn't leave me alone! had a play (got out the catgame nonnie sent) and he seemed to want me to play too! If I moved away he lost interest - if I moved back he went into 'hunter mode'. so, there was I pretending to 'catch that mouse' with him. Cats do hunt in pairs sometimes I know - a couple of Atrix's cats used to.
anyway - he finally settled down when OH came in.
