I know I'm going to jinx myself now but, at the moment, mine seem to all be flea clear. Scrappy's grooming has declined, taking him up to bed with us seems to be having some effect. I'm beginning to wonder whether he's suffering from some sort of separation anxiety... feeling unsafe when we're out in case that cat comes in, not that he can with the new catflap.

I did, I jinxed myself - found a flea on Tikka last night!

We woke up to snow this morning, just a light covering, Scrappy had great fun scampering around in the snow until his paws got cold, it's not often he has such an active spurt :)

Sorry no post last night - had a recurrence of the 'tummy trouble' and went to bed very early. I took the last antibiotic this morning and my tummy is actually feeling much better now - so perhaps it was the tablets!

Barnes was funny this morning - it was just getting light when I got up and when I drew the curtains he looked at me in amazement! his decking was covered in white stuff! I opened the door and he shot out, then stood stock still. then gingerly raised one paw, then another and faster and faster raised each paw in turn trying to keep them off the cold stuff! roflmao - he looked like one of those lizards that live in the hot desert..............he hated the feel of it. didn't put him off though, he went to his spot to look up to ladyloves window - and she was there!!!!!!!!!! he then had the problem of how to strut over the gravel and snow while not looking like a geriatric trying to walk on hot coals! he just about managed that (but if she could have seen the pained look on his face), he then chose the deepest patch of snow to sit in??? while he mooned at her. five minutes later he strolled over to French doors and I let him in, poor dear - his paws must have been freezing as he sat frantically licking them for a few minutes! then he headed for his place on settee back and refused to go out until the snow cleared.

    thank you dory.

typical Welsh Winter weather! hail, rain, wind and thunder and lightning! oh and a few sunny spells! during one of which I opened the French doors and asked Barnes if he wanted to go out - and he declined. he turned round and hid under the dining table - and sure enough, two minutes later the hailstones were hammering down! Psychic Cat does it again!
Poor cat hates hail! he doesn't mind thunder and lightning though.

Next sunny spell he was happy to go out for a few minutes - but I am sure he found it too windy and cold - he seemed very glad to curl up on settee back and snuggle into the freshly laundered and warm from the tumble dryer towel I had just put there!

he was still there hours later when I came back in from shopping trip.........he pretended to be asleep, buuuuuutttttt I had spotted him sitting looking out the French doors as we passed our house in the lane! lol.

I put the shopping away, and barnes decided he wanted to play so I went to get the ping pong balls. threw one up the stairs and it bounced down, over Barnes who then chased it downstairs, batted it into the kitchen and was going at such a speed he skidded on the kitchen lino and ended up stuck headfirst in the 3inch gap between the cooker and the cupboard. and horrible catmummy meri just sat laughing her head off! so that was the end of that play session! and I haven't been forgiven yet - he is rather blatantly preferring OH!

Think he has forgotten last nights humiliation - I got cuddles and loves almost as soon as I woke up!
I am 90% sure he has a flea somewhere on him! he is scratching a lot, so after grandgirls go home tomorrow he will have a spot-on treatment. its only a few days early. I wont do it now as the girls may stroke him and not wash hands. Especially as he usually spends the night with them.

very cold today and Barnes was not inclined to stay out for long - even though 'younextdoor' was up in bedroom window! I have to remember he is NOT used to cold weather - he didn't go out at all before I let him out late spring so he probably thought it was hot when sunny! It seems to be thickening up his coat though, even though he doesn't spend THAT much time outside. the hairs on his coat are very very fine and perhaps due to central heating and him being an indoor cat (and the previous stress) his coat was quite sparse - its looking so much better now. When the little sod doesn't scratch clumps out of it!

So I missed a parcel yesterday and hubby collected it for me today......thank you so much for the amazing cat toys and treats!! That was really unexpected and so very kind of you, the cats are working their way through the toys and the dreamies lol. Thank you also for the postage although I'm quite sure it didn't cost that much!

Both cats ventured outside for a little while this afternoon and that's the first time this week between the wind and then the snow, I hope it's not too cold down your way, have you had any snow yet? Sam was hilarious yesterday when the snow started, he kept running between the 2 kitchen windows and looking at me in between totally confused with what was happening outside :p

Thank you very much again xx

Its snowed a little a here nonnie, nothing to write home about only half an inch and it turned into ice pretty quick and has been slowly melting all day, my Taz has decided that snow should be walked on like hot coals, its hilarious watching him trying to navigate the path out the back of my house, the other cats don't like it when there snow outside so don't bother attempting to escape! they will look out the door then look at me as if to say UH EH you've booby trapped the outside world with that cold sinking blanket again that makes me walk funny im no fool :rotfl:.

jeez - one day tummy is fine - the next its giving me gyp! sorry for no post last night, felt a bit poorly, went to bed early with a couple of painkillers, and got up as right as rain! now tummy is acting up again..............wondering if doc was right and I now have IBS to add to my woes!
nonnie - you and your cats are so welcome! think of the toys and dreamies as a gift from Barney to your kitties! and they were NOT expensive - the little vial of catnip was with a toy I bought him for Christmas, but I have a huge tub of the stuff! the dreamies, well, I sort of compulsively buy dreamies..........so were in Barnes's stash.
I hope yours have as much fun with the toys as Barnes did. (he likes the long cigar thingie and the little ginger mice!).

talking of gifts - went up Atrix's today to give his youngest her 7th Birthday presents. as we left (with all three grandkids who wanted Sunday Roast down nannies) I went to put my boots back on, and ...........WTH! OUCH! tipping boot upside down I discovered a plastic toy which was obviously belonging to one of the kids! Atrix laughed and said 'Oh Kiki must have put it there'! apparently she leaves 'presents' in peoples shoes! rofl a 'female, feline' St Nicholas?

Barnes was pleased to see the kids of course. I do believe he misses them on times. he squeeks and yowls with pleasure when they come in. Sunday, so Barnes knows my routine, 'She who must be obeyed has her command attendance in the afternoon' and I get home in time to give him his supper. which he expects as soon as I walk in!
Sorry, bit snarky, but mum DOES wind me up!
will give Barnes his worming tabs tomorrow - then he has one spot-on left and I will make appointment for a check up with vet. I know he has put on weight, his fur (where he hasn't yanked it out) is thick and lovely and he seems well. so no reason not to give him his 'booster'. (at last visit vet wanted to wait a few months - she wasn't sure he was well enough). want to discuss worming and flea control.

got up early again - still dark at 7.10! OH made me a cup of tea - appreciated, but I tend to have a glass of water first to wash down painkillers. But it was nice to sit with a mug of rapidly cooling tea while I woke up properly. Barnes helped by yowling at me to change his water and top up/change his dry food. No patience when it comes to food! let him out and watched the weather forecast. Doesn't seem TOO bad - not even for your area nonnie. (though my geography is crap and you MAY live in the Scottish Snowfields, wherever they are? its a term I don't remember from geography classes, but the Beeb weatherwoman was saying it, so there must be an area designated as such!)
Wonder if she would call the valleys the Welsh Wetlands? rofl.
anyways, I am waffling on because Barnes and I have had a totally boring day - much enjoyed by me because I thrive on no drama or crisises!
Please, SOMEONE post a nice story about YOUR pets!
