Hi Meritaten, will pop it in the post on Monday as the post office is closed here 1st and 2nd and I'm at a wedding on Saturday, I've still got your address ok.
Hope you've had a nice Hogmanay, i don't think I'll manage to stay up for the bells this year as its been a busy day (mums birthday) and I'm in bed at the moment trying to stay awake
Hope 2015 is a great year for you and your family xx0 -
thanks nonnie! I wonder how Barnes will like it! I meant to say I would like to pay you part of the cost of it. after all, its hardly used! plus postage. my head has definitely been 'in the shed' lately.
oh gawd - Barnes and I were up at 3.45am this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!! now that is just silly. I didn't go to bed til gone 11.00pm but had weird dreams, sat bolt upright in bed at 3.00 and declared 'I wonder how the Queen is this morning'! Now, that's weird even for me! and I was wide awake then............I tried to settle back down again, but no use. so we got up. I knitted, read a book, knitted some more - but remained wide awake, so resigned myself to staying up. Barnes thought it great - early breakfast, and he wanted lunch by 9.00am! rofl, he couldn't understand why I wasn't supplying it! or why he had to wait so long for it to get light enough for me to let him out!
it was more than a bit breezy this morning - though fine and dry - and I swear, the wind blew him in after just a few minutes outside! He wasn't best pleased, and he has been a greedy beggar today, THREE pouches in all! and his dry food - but it WAS an early start to the day.0 -
Hi meri, long time lurker here just popping in to say that I love your post about Barnes they have made me chuckle at times and cheered me up at times as well xxharleyxx0
-
Hi Harley - Welcome and thanks for your kind words!
Sorry no post last night - I know you will all understand, when I tell you that I had the privilege of babysitting Ava for a few hours! OH and I sat there entranced, just watching her sleep for hours! with a short interval of wakefulness when she decided she wanted a couple of ounces of milk. You would think that as we have six other grandkids - it wouldn't be a novelty anymore. But, each and every one of them has brought the 'magic' with them.
She now weighs a whopping 12lb 14ozs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and most of the little outfits I knitted for her will be too small before long - so out comes the needles and yarn and I will get cracking on the larger size for her!
Barnes was quite interested in her last night - every burp and windypop caught his interest and he wandered over to investigate. When she squeeked he went up and stared in her face - then must have decided she wasn't really 'talking' to him cos he walked away. and he came up for a cuddle with me a couple of times. as if he wanted to reassure himself he was still No1 in my affections! I even got my cheek thoroughly washed! for some reason he must think I am about to go to bed as he is fast asleep on top of the stairs..........he is a couple of hours early for that!
we have had a quiet day - OH has had a few 'callouts' so its mostly been me and Barnes. adhered to the usual routine and Barnes seemed more inclined to nap today. he went out early this morning (the crack of dawn) but not since. OH reports its colder than it looks (gray, dank and miserable), so the settee back was his preferred place today) lol - Barnes I mean - NOT OH!
the grandkids didn't even invite themselves for Sunday Lunch! So, I have a rather large portion of Pork Roast in the fridge waiting for inspiration for turning into another meal. or slicing up and freezing.0 -
That's lovely re Ava, they are just so adorable when they are small and it's amazing how people can just sit and watch (me included!) them for hours..they really are little miracles!
Really don't want any money for the cat toy, you'll need some 'c' batteries as there is new ones in it but seemingly you can't post batteries through the post unless they are brand new and still packaged so sorry for that. I just hope Barnes enjoys it xx0 -
thank you nonnie ! that's so kind of you! but no quibbling about postage costs please, that's non-negotiable! No prob about batteries can pick some up in local shop. I am quite looking forward to seeing how he reacts.
He has been a lazy sod all day today - hasn't played with his toys and had to be enticed off the settee back for G&T. noticed his eyes are a bit weepy and he has sneezed a bit - wonder if he has a cold? he has also come and cuddled against me a couple of times - but not wanted a 'cuddle'. otherwise he seems fine! eating for Wales and pooing and peeing normally. Will keep a careful eye on him, but, it could be these 'up and down' temperatures outside which is putting him off going in the garden so much. He seems very put out if its sunny and he goes out and its COLD! even worse if its breezy (and we are in the valleys and breezy is normal), which he takes personally. he doesn't seem to mind if its damp and mild - but I wont let him out if its tipping down - not after he was so ill last time he got wet!0 -
I totally misjudged just how wet it was this morning! I mean, it was a bit drizzly I thought - but it must have been really wet drizzle! when he came in, after he had checked on 'Younextdoor' and did his perimeter check, he was soaked! so he got wrapped in a towel and cuddled dry! he didn't seem to mind that - although he looked like a giant ginger dandelion afterwards! I had to go into the kitchen to have a laugh. I wasn't feeling too warm myself so both the central heating and living room fire were going full-blast!
Saw the doc this morning and have another course of anti-biotics to take and a 'sample bottle' just in case they don't work!
was discussing mum and I explained about her memory loss and confusion. Doc said they run a 'memory' clinic and he will refer her if she comes to the surgery, so now its down to sis to get her there! no good me trying - she goes against me on principle, while sis winds her round her little finger!
It brightened up this afternoon and it was nice out so Barnes had a good hour outside! spent most of it making eyes at 'younextdoor', but at least he got some fresh air and sunshine! he seems perfectly fine today - his eyes weren't all runny and he didn't sneeze.0 -
Hi Meritaten, glad you managed to speak to the doctor and got the ball rolling, at least she will now be 'in the system' so to speak.
Oh is off this week and announced yesterday that we were decorating one of our rooms:eek: so I didn't manage to post the parcel till today, hopefully you'll have it in a few days, don't think I mentioned that my wee girl Charlie did venture near it but every time I switched it on she sneezed uncontrollably :rotfl: to be fair I think I just have weird cats but they do fit in well in our household lol xx0 -
Nonnie - that's ok! I am just grateful that you are 'gifting it on'. Its a shame your cats didn't like it - I really cant predict how Barnes will react, he still sometimes surprises me!
like today - he went out and came in and started scratching the carpet, I spoke sternly to him 'Stop that Barney', and he HISSED at me! He has never done that before. he got a telling off in 'catspeak' for that! That is, I hissed back with narrowed eyes, and he turned tail and ran upstairs, then five minutes later came down and made all 'lovey dovey' with me. lol, Yeah, yeah Barnes - now you know just WHO is 'TopCat' here! I may be a bit soft but am no pushover!
after that he has been a '!!!!!cat' all day!
tonight the wind is getting up and its raining -and its hitting the bedroom window, and its one thing I do love about winter - I am actually looking forward to going to bed - I may even go up early with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate! Barnes is waiting on the stairs..........he knows by now that a good storm and I am in bed! and he can curl up on his special pillow.
bit late actually posting this as Barnes has decided he is starving and been yowling at me .................he wanted another pouch of food! and a play..............pingponguppastairs! oh well, its worked off those extra calories!0 -
I swear last night, when I was writing my shopping list, Scrappy saw me write Tiger cat food on it. He gave me a really evil look and when I told him that yes he was getting Tiger this week, he jumped off my lap and went and curled up with "daddy" all the while giving me the "LOOK".
They're odd creatures aren't they?0
