Grandcat having extended 'sleepover'!

LOL his missus - I think cats can read! My sons cat Felix would only eat tinned cat food that bore his name!!!!!!!!! otherwise it was dry food.
Barnes had a good day I think, weather fine and he was in and out all day. I got up a little later than usual but dawn had broken and Barnes was waiting at the French doors to be let out. not very patiently either - I hadn't even had a cuppa and he was yowling at me to be let out. jeez - perhaps the lighter mornings make him think its later than it really is?
For some reason when I groomed him today he seemed to have an awful lot of fur come out! cant understand it..............he gets groomed every day and usually its just a small amount - like golf ball sized - today it was more like a tennis ball! same comb, same routine.
nonnie - I see on the weather report you are due for some really bad weather - stay safe hunnie! I like a good storm but that sounds scary!
barnes is currently curled up on OHs lap- now why wont he 'lapsit' with me? cant help feeling a bit hurt, OH doesn't actually DO any Barney care - yet he gets a lovely warm cat on his lap! but then, said cat doesn't keep HIS feet warm at night!0 -
Thank you! It's blowing a wee hoolie outside just now but I'm hoping that I can ignore it enough to get to sleep and not get any damage come tomorrow morning.
My two are seriously fussy eaters and I think I'll need to try something different soon, they drive me nuts! xx0 -
nonnie - parcel arrived today - in excellent condition! now I just have to get some batteries when I go out tomorrow. Barnes has been interested in it - it smells fascinating to him, so I have just left it out for him - wonder what he will do when its switched on!
Will send you the postage costs - probably Monday as I don't think I can get to Post office in the morning.
hope you had an undisturbed night - the news reported record winds in some areas - I know exactly what a hurricane sounds like - its seriously scary. hope you didn't have a power outage too.
been really breezy here - but nothing out of the ordinary! Barnes doesn't like it though. he shelters beside one of my larger pots and the fence, but I can still his fur blowing about.
Grandgirls are sleeping over so he is upstairs with them.0 -
Hi Meritaten....I'm seriously NOT looking for the postage costs, please please don't!
Weather has been awful, thursday night we ended up with some broken plant pots so no big deal but last night we lost some cladding from round the side of our roof, that's a bummer but luckily it seemed to fly over my car and landed in the garden beside it so that was a blessing. Not much better tonight and it seems that it will last till about wednesday
Hey ho not to worry, we had every kind of weather today - hail, sleet, snow, beautiful sun, bucketing rain and all with severe winds, what more can a girl ask for
Hope the winds don't pick up down your way, it's more the lack of sleep that's the worst bit when you think your windows are coming into bed to join you in the middle of the night lol xx0 -
hi nonnie, so glad you have come through those awful storms relatively unscathed. I was worried!
yes, I think we had all four seasons over the last couple of days - with the exception of snow. but, as long as I don't have to go out - I don't mind!
I can cope with the wind - after you have spent the night in a caravan on top of a cliff during a hurricane..........being tucked up in my bricks and mortar house feels sort of 'cosy'!
Right - the news you have been waiting for!!!!!!!!!! I got the batteries (then discovered some in a drawer - duh!) and after his G&T I switched it on, he stared at it, looked at me in amazement - then pounced! and pounced again as it evaded him, he had a lot of fun with it! Nonnie, he loves it! but he is starting to 'cheat' - today he sat and considered it for ten seconds then dived under the cover - and NO MOUSE! totally bemused him, rofl. so he is still chasing the tail thingy round, catching it sometimes and then wonders why it wont keep still and play dead! lets it go and chases it again!
I have kept playing with it to a few minutes, then distracted him with playing 'catchthedreamies', as I don't want him to become discouraged that he gets no reward for catching the tail. I may hide his catnip 'mousethatsreallyahedgehog' underneath so he gets a 'reward'.
So from Barnes and myself 'A thousand thank-yous'!!!!!!!!!! oh and you WILL get postage costs! no argument hunnie, like my nan, I don't like being 'beholden' and you are out of pocket enough. I know this toy isn't cheap. and it was so kind of you to pass it on to Barnes.0 -
Aawww I'm really pleased that he liked it, that's made my day!:D
Not envious of your caravan scenario at all, that would have scarred me for life lol
Re the postage, your very kind - thank you xx0 -

came back because I realised I hadn't explained why no post last night! for a change there were programmes on TV I actually wanted to see! I love history and archaeology and there was a time team special about Henry Vllls palaces, and then one on Anne Boleyns last days and one on Hampton Court Palace! I curled up with my box of Turkish Delight and ENJOYED! then was too stuffed and tired to come on computer!
Re - 'The Caravan and the Hurricane'! its etched into my brain - it was the scariest night of my life. The wind was getting up and the kids getting nervous and we watched the infamous Michael Fish forecast. So decided it was just a 'storm' and stayed. couple of hours later the caravan was rocking and moaning, and OH said 'I think we should go home'. He went out to turn off the Butane gas and nearly got blown over - and we realised it was too dangerous to drive home.
for the rest of the night the caravan behaved like a hovercraft and we all cuddled up in the lounge! it was a very long night for me and OH - the kids fell asleep and slept through the worst of it. OH and I didn't sleep - but, our (rather aged) caravan was sound and well anchored and we were very lucky to have no damage to it, or our car at all.:) Would you believe that when the wind finally dropped and it was dead calm - the caravan settled back in the EXACT spot it had occupied earlier!!!!!!!!!
The sheer noise of a hurricane has to be heard to be believed - as you know!
But - in one way it was an experience I am glad to have had - makes you grateful for the usual 'breeze' that blows round here!0 -
Well it has tipped down all day! Barnes really wanted to go out - but, the pouring rain put him off - windy too.
little sod has scratched a huge patch of fur off his neck! and left a sore, bleeding area. (that was this afternoon Atrix - as you know he was fine this morning!) I checked the area but cant see why he is scratching (am notoriously bad at spotting fleas though), checked the calendar and I only did his spot-on on the 22nd Dec so he should be flea free.
Will have to cut his back claws tomorrow - but my sharp nail clippers seem to be mislaid and the old ones just leave raggedy bits. so will have to nip to chemist and buy another new set.
Atrix called in this morning, so I got out the new toy for Barnes to play with - we both found him very amusing with it! I think Barnes was a bit puzzled by not getting groomed first though.............but I did play 'catchthedreamies' with him afterwards.
and Atrix went home with five tins from a box of Applaws Chicken meals - Barnes has 'gone off' them! Honestly, I don't feed them that often - but, nope a couple of mouthfuls and he has left most of the last two tins, even the chicken and pumpkin one he couldn't get enough of before!0 -
My two are going round the bend with the weather and not being able to go out, it's a shame for them but it's driving me nuts!
Hope you manage to sort out the fur problem, poor Barnes has a terrible time with this
I've tried 2 different cat foods over the last few days but to no avail, hubby says they must definitely be mine as I've perhaps been known to be slightly fussy on occasion lol xx0 -
