apologies for not posting for a couple of days! Have only made fleeting visits to the forum and not really much to tell you about Barnes.
He is absolutely fine and enjoying the spells of sunshine, he was napping and missed the snow today! one minute there was clear blue sky, then next, all these clouds blew in on a gale force wind and it snowed quite hard for a few minutes, then it blew away again and the sun came out and melted all the snow!
Had Ava for an hour or two this morning and Barnes is definitely more interested in her now she is more awake and aware. she was on my lap and he came up and stared into her face and she stared back at him................until he blinked and decided to go nap instead!

Brrrrrrr! cold day today - the decking was all iced over, but the sun was out, so Barnes wanted out. and it was so funny watching him wondering how to cope with 'slippy decking'! and then him trying to find a spot that wasn't icy to sit down on. obviously not wanting a freezing bum! he was out about twenty minutes, so his much thicker fur seems to be keeping him nice and warm.

Didn't have time to do a Barney Shop on the weekend as OH was working - so we went over PAH today. picked up Sheba Fine Cuts sachets and Gourmet Perle ones. He hasn't had those for a few months - will pick up some Vitacat from Adlis on Thursday. so he is sorted for food. oh and he loves the Adlis 'dreemies'. so a couple of packs of those and his treat sticks from there too. I got him a couple of those mice with feather tails PAH had on offer - will give him his new toys tomorrow after G&T. he seems most playful then. although judging by the toys left on the living room floor in the morning - he also has a little play at night while everyone is sleeping.

Well, the feathertail mice from PAH went down like a lead balloon! I tossed one over to him and he glanced at it and sat gazing out the French door. I dangled the feather in front of his face - no reaction! I batted it against the French door and it dropped in front of him - he gave me the 'what DO you think you are doing?' look. I didn't give up - I rubbed catnip on it and dangled the mouse right by his nose - he yawned and walked away! rofl.
I put them in his toybasket - he MAY decide to play with it sometime.

another lovely day if a bit cold - so he has spent some time outside. including getting out of the kitchen window and out into front garden (that's a no-no, he isn't allowed out the front). he didn't go out of the gate though - when I spotted him he was sat looking through the gate and although he heard me come out, he made no attempt to 'escape'. he did protest at being picked up and put back indoors though!

We had a little white mouse toy one of the girls bought the cats at Christmas which was ignored for weeks and just lay on the living room floor. We've never seen any of them play with it but it has started to move around the house so one of them must be.

Tikka's booked in for dental work next Friday, she'll not be a happy kitty!

hi his missus! Barnes normally gets out his first toy I bought him, but also chooses one or two he hasn't played with for a while.
poor Tikka! I sympathise, I am dentist phobic and haven't been for years. not since the stupid hygienist ignored the dentists (and mine) instructions and used the 'Jetwash' on my hypersensitive teeth. (I had my eyes tightly closed and didn't see what she was about to do). After they peeled me off the ceiling and calmed me down, I ran out and haven't been back. then because I had missed my next checkup the dentist removed me from his list. I did ring around but all the dentists were 'full'.

I was cooking my lunch and opened the kitchen window and Barnes sneaked out of it again! now I swear I only cracked it open an inch - and it wasn't much wider but there he was sitting by the gate! I only opened the door and took a step outside saying 'Barnes - IN' and he came right in! slowly, and giving me nasty looks all the while - but he DID come in without being picked up. He made me think of a sullen schoolboy, rofl!
He perked up when he realised I was getting his Groom & Treat stuff out though!
He does love his G&T session now!

My cats are starting to spend more time outside, the weather must be getting warmer. Casper's started going out to watch the birds on the feeders, he doesn't try to catch them anymore, it's good thing he's got no teeth ;)

rofl his missus - the birds in no danger then! The birds around here seem to avoid my garden now since Barnes has become a 'garden cat'. I don't feed them now - it would feel as if I was putting out 'bait'. but some of the larger ones - Jackdaws - take a perverse delight in sitting on the roof and taunting Barnes! I have even seen one or two swoop down right over him! he looks so annoyed at that!
Barnes looks like your typical indoor Persian - indolent and laid back - but I have seen him catch Bees and Butterflies and he is surprisingly agile and quick.

Right now he is up on the bed with the grandgirls - he has finally realised I don't actually mind him sleeping with them. they have cats at home and are used to 'co-sleeping' with them. So he comes upstairs with us tonight and settles down on the end of the bed - I know full well he will be virtually 'in bed' with them as soon as my back is turned! The days (or rather nights) of hiding behind the curtains are over.

hi slinky! if the sun is shining Barnes wants out! actually, he wants out when its raining but seems to think I have a magic switch (like for the lights), which turns the sun on and the rain off. its been nice but cold here - so he has spent most of the day outside. I had a job getting him in when it started to get dark though.

No grandgirls tonight as they slept over on Friday, so its been very quiet since they went home. OH went out for a few hours, so I read a book and Barnes was sunbathing outside. He can keep track of me as I sit by the French doors - he must have missed me when I went to the bathroom as he came up and waited outside the door - but didn't go in to use his litter tray when I came out - just squeeked at me and came downstairs with me, and bu99ered off out in the garden again.

Tikka has seemed a bit under the weather this weekend, could she know she's going to the vets on Friday? I do think she will need some teeth out. I'm not brave enough to look in her mouth but she does seem to be struggling to chew at one side :( Oooh, it's going to be costly!

Scrappy's being weaned off the Ovarid...again! Down to half every 3 days. His skin is looking dry and flaky so I bought a bottle of cod liver oil for animals - hmm, that's gone down like a lead balloon in our house. Only Casper seems to appreciate the stuff, I swear that old bagpuss is going to live forever!
