its been quite a nice day today! Sunny, but not that warm. so Barnes didn't go out until about 11.00am. did his perimeter check and came back in. then he went out about 2.00 and stayed out for a good while. it was warm enough to leave French door open for him by then so he was inandout. he had to stay in for a while when OH got in from work as I needed to do a shop and go vote.
Barnes has no political views whatsoever! tried to discuss it with him this morning and he yawned in my face! lol.
well he spotted the ear drops bottle at G&T time and no amount of bribery and shaking the dreamies bag got him out from under the dining chair! I had to pretend to put it away and then physically hold him in a 'half nelson' to administer them!
after we finished grooming session he sat there smiling at me - I am sure he was going through his options on 'getting back at me'!

Poor Barnes he has my sympathy with regard to his ear mites, both of mine suffered when they were younger and they were put onto Stronghold instead of Frontline as that tackles the ear mites as well and it worked a treat! It's more expensive but well worth it.

Funnily enough my two weren't overly bothered re politics but they're keeping me company whilst I'm watching the results come in xx

Funnily enough - Barnes was given Stronghold because the vets couldn't seem to obtain his usual Spot on, and its only since I applied it he has had a problem with ear mites! its certainly done nothing to help there.
Luckily, I had bought some ear mite stuff when I first got him - as first cat Timmy suffered badly from them. Feisty first cat didn't mind the ear drops at all - its as if he knew they would soothe his ears. So, I was able to start treating it and it seems to be clearing up now.
Barnes however HATES the drops! spots the bottle and he is off! today I hid it in my armpit (warms it nicely) and got those drops in his worst ear before he even realised it. he did swear a bit when I did the other ear though. but it was only swearing - no claws or struggling too much. and he did sit there waiting for his 'treats'!
Had Ava today and he finds her fascinating - but he got too close and she grabbed his face! I nearly panicked but, bless him, he just sat there waiting to be 'freed'! you can almost see that he is waiting for her to 'play' with him. he watches her intently and if she didn't grab him, I think he would like to get 'closer' to her and 'play'. of course I don't leave her alone with him - but, I really don't think he would ever harm her - his instinct when hurt or grabbed is simply to get away or wait for 'rescue'. he is Sooooo Gentle.

Meri have you tried thornitts for ear mites? Mr Boo used to have issues with his ears prior to getting Mrs (she pins him down and cleans em) and it helped.

Isn't that strange re the Stronghold? Gosh he is such a good natured cat, I had to wrap my two in a towel and hold them really tight before hubby put any drops into their ears or cleaned them and it was all claws, normally very placid until it's ears, Stronghold or the cat carrier eg vets!

How good of him not to lash out at Ava, I'm sure they two are going to be best friends in the next few years :)

I don't think I have stopped smiling since about 4.30am on friday morning, I really couldn't believe that we had gotten that result. I'm sure that it won't be long till Wales is heading in the same direction :T

sorry for no post last night! I am sure Mr Wong is putting sedatives in the Chow Mien!every time I have one I crash out half hour later!

nonnie - I don't think Wales is ready to let go of the Labour Myth. they LOVE Labour round here and from what I heard they think Ukip is 'Left Wing'. roflmao.
I think your Nicola Sturgeon is a brilliant politician. Leanne Woods is battling the Welsh Mam syndrome. whe should be the power in the home......................! Leanne and Nicola seemed to get on - with a bit of luck Nicola will pass on some tips!
The power in THIS home is .................MINE! Barnes may be trying to take over, but I have the upper hand! I can open the Dreamies!
Sunday, and me and Barnes had a lovely relaxed morning. then Ava arrived, GD3 arrived for lunch. and it got a bit 'chaotic! OK lunch got sorted and loads left for me to 'swizz' with my stick blender and turn into 'chicken dinners' for Ava. bagged them and put in freezer.
the promised 'sunny afternoon' didn't materialise! barnes was pleased to see me back from mums and has had brief sojournes outside. he is in now and gone up to bed!

Well, today didn't go as I thought it would. GD2 had a major meltdown and 'did a runner' before school so everyone was out looking for her. her twin found her, (that 'twin ESP' thing?) and twin and sis went off to school. but the upshot is that I have a 'houseguest' for a while. Atrix is hoping that my calmer household will have a soothing effect on her .............Where have I heard that before????????????
anyway - Barnes is chuffed! he gets a kid to sleep with! honestly, he was outside enjoying the sunset when she went to bed - two minutes later he was in and nearly knocked me over dashing upstairs to snuggle on the bed with her!
He is still there and seems to be quite content.

Meri, I hope staying at Grandma's and spending time with Barnes will have a calming effect on GD2.

Thanks his missus! I think its working already! after school, GD2 went home for a couple of hours to have some time with parents while the other two were down here. she decided to stay another night - but phoned her mum to say goodnight and told her she loved her. (long story but that's a result).
rofl - I haven't seen anyone eat so much since grandson1 stayed over! I have no idea where she put it all!
Barnes thinks its great - he was alternating between her room and mine all last night - right now he is snuggling up to her. when I peeked in, he was lying on his side beside her, and his paw was gently stroking her arm!!!!!!!!! never seen a cat stroke a human before!
and he KNOWS when she is going to bed - again tonight as I was coming downstairs - he was running upstairs to join her and I had to get out of his way!
Did I mention that GD2 has ADHD? she usually hates taking any meds - but she requested Melatonin (sleeping aid) tonight!
as I have another two grandkids with Aspergers Syndrome I do have a supply of Ritalin and Melatonin - so was able to give her some. (very closely related syndromes and the medications are about the same).

They adore Barnes as he is so gentle with them - usually cats dislike them and they get sworn at, scrammed, and the cat avoids them. Barnes, like my second cat Nicki is lovely with them.

btw - 'scrammed' is Wenglish for 'scratched'.
