Son brought his wife and Ava home about lunchtime today. we popped down a couple of hours later and gave her card and pressies. Nonnie, they LOVED the baby moon! and were impressed with your hand painting. they both said that finding a nightlight which didn't play music or have a 'distracting lightshow' had been difficult. So thanks again for doing that for me! I didn't even know they had been looking for that kind of nightlight. Ava will obviously be in their bedroom for a while and they don't want 'lullabies and lightshows'! but they did want some light to be able to see to her without putting the big light on.

Barnes has had a nice day too - he inadvertently got shut out in the garden when we went down to sons. I thought he had come in and locked the doors! He was just sat on the decking watching out for 'You' when we got back though - and we were not very long - only about three quarters of an hour. So he might not even have noticed we weren't in!
we played catchthetreatstick as a change from catchthedreamies, and he was a bit puzzled as to why he was expected to work for it! but he did play. I thought he would find it easier as the bits of treat stick are larger than dreamies - but he seemed to find it more difficult.
  • Aawww I'm glad they're home safe and sound, your so welcome re the baby moon and I'm really pleased they like it. I'm going to post a tiny wee thing to you on Monday for Ava so you can look out for it.

Do you think Barnes will be unsettled when they come to visit if she cries.....but probably not as he seems so chilled out! xx

oh nonnie, that's so kind of you! thank you.
I have no idea - Cats can either be fascinated by babies or ignore them in my (limited) experience.
I may find out tomorrow as I have invited them for Sunday lunch. but I haven't heard Ava cry so far - and her parents report she has only cried so far when hungry. they may decide to have lunch at home and son will come pick up the meals. they will let me know tomorrow. They had the beef bourguinon I made for their lunch today - with some crusty bread I got for them yesterday. great improvement on hospital food anyway.........honestly, that hospital needs James Martin - the food is supposed to be standard across Wales using Chef recipes - but the RGH manages to make even those inedible. even the 'restaurant' serves bad food. and the coffee costs more than Starbucks and is DISGUSTING! honestly, I paid £2.95 for a black coffee and couldn't drink it - it tasted 'burned' and was lukewarm. I would have been better getting a hot choc from the vending machine - at least that is 'drinkable'.

lol just took the grandtwins to bed and K picked Barnes up and put him behind the curtain! lol - he squeeked in protest, but she told him to be quiet...............and he was! he waits to hear me go downstairs then jumps on the bed with them. he does love his 'kiddycuddles'!

Barnes was 'kipping' with me when I woke up about 7.00am and went back to sleep! I heard OH in the kitchen doing breakfast at about 9.00 so got up. one twin had waited as she didn't want OHs 'Cement Porridge' lol! so I supervised her making an omelette - she made a good job of that! gave Barnes his breakfast then.

OH went out to take flowers up to his brothers and nephews graves Barnes went out in garden too - but, he was 'in and out' a lot. He got his G&T but unfortunately the grandtwins were distracted by Ava being there - so he got the bare minimum! a quick comb and his dreamies and treatstick and that was it!
and of course I was out all afternoon being sunday. He is ok about it though. he is used to it.

while the baby was here she did cry a bit - and Barnes totally ignored it! he loves kids - but apparently only when they are old enough to play with him or he can sleep with them!
  • Congratulations on the new grand baby :)

    Thank you oldestgnome.
lordy! it was COLD this morning! Barnes could see it was sunny so wanted to go out - I opened the door and he felt the blast of chill and promptly changed his mind! lol. he should know by now the sun doesn't get around to the back of the house until midday!
and he was a very naughty cat today! he NEVER steals food (unless its on the floor) so when I roasted a chicken and put it on the plate, I decanted all the 'juices and fat' into a small dish. which I left on the worktop to cool. which apparently was irresistible to him - I found him lapping it up! a shocked 'BARNEY SMITH' had him jumping to the floor and heading upstairs to hide! I had to laugh when he came back downstairs - his chin and chest was covered in chicken grease! so he got rubbed down with wetwipes! I am just dreading cleaning the litter trays tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all - its Atrixs' birthday today! happy birthday luv, if you are feeling well enough to be reading the forum. Barnes sends his birthday greetings too!

poor love has his normal 'November' viruses, coughs, colds, bad chest - November is a terrible month for him healthwise. always has been.

Litter tray hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be - not exactly runny but not normal either! Enough about that!

definitely NOT sunny today - Barnes went out, but didn't like it much, so has supervised my knitting from the back of settee.
and his chin and chest are still a bit 'greasy'! so he got 'wetwiped' again during G&T much to his disgust!

grandgirls came after school - and watched a dvd, ate and ate some more - school dinners must have been bad today! they were starving.

Nonnie - your 'wee gift' arrived this morning! I opened it (nosy - but I wanted to see it). it is SOOOOOOOO Cute! I gave it to son and DIL when they came to pick up sausage casserole for their supper and they were thrilled! asked me to pass on their thanks! GS1 apparently has a Christmas bauble with his name on - now Ava has her own personalised tree dec!
oops OH just came in must go do his supper - what timing! bbl
  • Really glad it arrived safely and tell them it was my pleasure. Is your dil feeling well? xx

Nonnie - my DIL was marvelling at the DETAIL you put into your work! its truly beautiful. we all think you are very talented! I craft a lot but couldn't do that in a month of sundays! and they think it was very kind of you to send a gift. Bit more restrained with the bubble wrap this time - but it landed through the letter box safely! lol.

folks - nonnie sent a plaque which is similar to the baby moon in concept and had Ava's name on it and a caption 'baby's first christmas'. it can be hung on a tree or anywhere really! its so cute.
    They will treasure it.

Barnes had his spot ons over a week ago and is scratching like mad! I cant SEE any fleas - but the bu99ers easily evade me! I did his worming tabs same time too. I think I need to make vet appointment - but cant make this week as OH is on call. and it could be me rubbing him down with wetwipes................he may find it irritating. so as his chin and chest is still a bit greasy - its normal mild soap and water from now on.
I have found too that he can tolerate 'fish' based pouches if he only has them now and again. he really enjoyed his 'salmon' one today - the plate was licked clean! and he does make a bit of a noise if he really enjoys a meal............normally he eats very quietly and daintily! but he was 'chomping' this down!lol.
weather not great today - but not too wet or windy or too cold so he
spent quite a bit of time out in the garden. Trouble is, there has been a spate of 'pet thefts' in the area - so I don't get much done when he is outside! he is so friendly he would probably let anyone pick him up and carry him off! its the back garden but there is a lane for cars there. and quite a few people have stopped to admire him............and pet him. worrying me a bit - I am almost rethinking my decision to let him have 'outside time'. but it would be too cruel to keep him in now he has discovered the delights of 'Garden Time'!

DIL says she feels fine apart from backache - not very reassuring to me - but, son has been told by me what to look out for - and he is a sensible lad. she is in good hands there.
