Mum is not very well at the moment and has little energy to get on here and do some Barney blogging and persuaded me to update you all with an explanation of absence, mum knows that I have given up on MSE forums but as mum cant get to update you all she has asked me to just pop in and update you all.

nothing serious, just that time of year when viral infections are fly about.

Barnes is taking good care of mum and hasn't left her side since she fell sick a couple of days ago, he has his periods where he wants to go out, only to check "if she's in her window", silly cat, he doesn't get the message and probably never will. he wasn't talking to me yesterday, I picked him up to prevent him bolting out the gate when dad was bringing in the shopping, and he gave me the stare in the hopes i would melt, after dad was done with the shopping and closed the gate I put him down then he joined dad in unpacking the shopping in the kitchen voicing his disgust at me as he left the room.

He knows the sound of dads car too, just as he was pulling up the street barnes leapt off mums lap, run upstairs, run into one room, into the next then ran downstairs to the patio doors, he just didn't like the fact he couldn't go help dad unpack the shopping outside when I picked him up and he'll forgive me soon.

Well keep checking on the thread, im sure mum will be well enough to get back on here and update you all with your barney updates soon.

    HI all!

Am feeling a bit better now, but, I can honestly say that was one of the worst 'tummy bugs' I have EVER had!
Thanks Atrix for coming and let folks know I hadn't just disappeared, and would be back.
My Barnes has hardly left my side! he has virtually 'fussed' over me! well, more than I would expect from a cat.
OH lost his TV buddy in the evenings as Barnes preferred to make sure I was comfortably in bed. he even took to patting me on the face to check if I was awake or asleep..............usually just as I was dropping into an exhausted sleep! but, my muttering swear words reassured him into settling down and just keeping my kidneys warm (how did he know they hurt I wonder?).
He didn't get groomed for three days! and bless him, he didn't complain once! at least OH fed him - but he doesn't do grooming.

Not a great day - had a bit of a relapse and my kidneys felt on fire. I am sure I took too many Imodium, even though I didn't exceed dosage guidelines. I can suddenly develop allergy to medicines. so I haven't taken any more. but am popping paracetamol like smarties! which isn't good for the liver I know.
I am rarely ill but it always happens just when I want to do something or be somewhere. Now I have missed the grandgirls school plays. oh dear - anyone else want to join my 'pity party'?

Even with bad back Barnes has decided I need to get back to routine, so was reminded of G&T in no uncertain terms! so he got his wish - a VERY thorough grooming including 'tummy' area (he still hates that).
but he did get extra treats AND we played 'catchthedreamies' after.
After which I tried to stretch out on settee to ease my back and catch up on some sleep - no go, Barnes wasn't having that! he jumped off settee back on to my chest and sat there purring! I tried to flip him to 'nurse' him but he jumped on the floor and yowled until I let him out. Does he know I cant have a kip if he is out? so gave up on that.

Oh yes please I'll join! DS has been running a temp on and off since Thursday but it peaked yesterday and then he was sick this morning.... I really think the sickness was calpol hitting an empty stomach which was then piled with cold water , no more since then and he seems much better tonight. By the way he is not a good patient, god help whoever ends marrying him lol

Seems to be lots of bugs around at the moment, I ended up at the docs last week as I had chest pains for 3 weeks but it felt muscular and I did think that 3 weeks was a bit long for a heart attack to last :rotfl: anyway he thinks it's a virus and now I'm left with a weird feeling on one shoulder and the side of my neck, hey ho could be a lot worse. I was reading victorys post about her oh and I see that you had posted as well, fingers crossed that he stabilises soon and that they get some positive news.

Hope your relapse is temporary and glad Barnes looked after you xx

hi nonnie - hope your poor DS gets better soon!
I feel a bit better 'in myself' today IYKWIM. but still having stomach cramps. but after all that Imodium - to put it politely, my body is producing nothing but AIR! bit worried I may never poo again!
Barnes has been startled a couple of times by the rather noisy 'output', but after giving me a few quizzical looks, he has just settled down and has been ignoring it since.

another lengthy G&T session to make up for my not being able to play with him at random times during the day or evening. he seems not to mind anyway. and I am always within paws reach for a stroke or cuddle while I am ensconced on settee. definitely not up to any 'work' yet.
its been raining today and the wind started getting up this afternoon. so he cant go out - which he was minded to do until he saw how wet it was for his own eyes. I had to open the door before he believed it was tipping down (does he think the Patio door glass lies?).
I really have to get up the shop tomorrow - he only has one pouch of food as OH didn't get him any when he did our shop. fingers crossed the shop will have something decent in.

Jings I hope your weather isn't as bad as ours for tomorrow and you get out ok, we're looking at 50/60 mph gusts and it wasn't far away from that today, sam and Charlie have not been amused and they don't do well being stuck in for too long either.

I have to say that Sam likes to expel excess air silently when he is on my lap and the phrase 'silent but violent' springs to mind:rotfl:

Glad your on the mend xx

Hope the weather hasn't hit you too hard today nonnie - hate to say this but its been a fine dry day - though a bit windy. outdoors AND indoors!
still feeling a bit under the weather so to speak. The surgery phoned about lunchtime and explained in detail what the lab found in the stool sample (I hope the people waiting to see doc weren't too grossed out), but I have forgotten most of what she said. I gather its bacterial and severe so they had a prescription ready for me. Erythromycin - I did notice that side effects included Diarrhea and vomiting! still, doc doesn't hand out unnecessary prescriptions (far to mean), so they must be needed to clear the infection (I think she said in intestine?). I also have to fill in form for someone...........public health? oh well, I suppose it will become clear in time.
Oh silly me - of course I do - its not a viral tummy bug - she said food poisoning.

Barnes was tempted out by the blue skies and sunshine only to come scampering back when the wind blew on him. I am exhausted just getting up and down opening the dam door for him.
The shop had his Sheba mini pouches and some applaws tins - so he should be ok for a few days until I can do a proper 'Barney Shop'.
he had his G&T and sauntered over to his toy basket and made a careful selection............kick toy, he can play with that on his own! Bless him, he still doesn't expect me to play with him. he hasn't once fished out a ping pong ball since I have been ill! (his cue he wants me to play with him) - I must refill his catnip toys to reward him.

Weather turned really nasty this afternoon - but Barnes did manage some garden time this morning.
apart from that, his day hasn't been much different to the week or so previous - mum on settee - Barnes somewhere near! he seems happy enough to have his food on time, his G&T on time and me within easy reach.
  • Sorry I didn't reply last night but both kids are in panto wed-sat and it was a late night and I only had time to read before I zonked. Slightly earlier finish tonight thank goodness, be glad when it's sunday!

Weather wasn great at all yesterday and still quite bad today although it's now settled a lot and hopefully my furry babies will venture out tomorrow. I hope your weather settles quickly as well, I can cope with the rain but not the wind, it freaks me out big time xx

    HI all!
Sorry for not posting the last couple of nights - my internal clock is a bit haywire. I've been waking up at silly o clock, cant get back off to sleep and by 6.30pm I cant keep my eyes open! I HAVE tried, but even strong filter coffee isn't keeping me from my bed! Had a nice lie in this morning - 6.00am! managed to doze for another ten mins but........once I am awake I really have to get up. still, Barnes appreciated the breakfast topup and fresh water and was allowed out at dawn!
G&T isn't so rushed and we play for ten minutes after - he is still coddling me and hasn't asked to play 'pingponguppastairs' or any 'active' games. so he is getting plenty of 'kicktoy' games and 'catchthedreamies'. and amusing himself then when he feels like playing. he has had more 'mad half hours' in the last few days than in the whole time I have had him! He races up the stairs, along into his room and jumps on the bed and then on the windowsill, off again, back downstairs, under the dining table, then in the lounge for a quick lap or two, then does it all over again!
Bless him - he has been such a sweety! and such a comfort to me - who needs hot water bottles when you have a Persian! he always seems to know if its my kidneys aching or my feet are freezing and settles down in the right place! bliss!

(His room - that's the only bedroom he is allowed in during the day to 'people watch' from the windowsill)
