I think the baby is waiting for her pension! she is resisting all attempts to induce her!lol. my poor Son and DIL are totally fed up, tired and if they could send her back I think they would!
GS2 has been really funny - when told mum still wasn't in labour he replied 'Well, they should break her waters'! a six year old obstetrician! and he drew his mum a card in after school club - showing the baby in mummy's tummy and the words 'Welcome to the family Aver'! rofl. she is going to spell it AVA - but, I don't think my son likes the name - so we shall see!
just got back from the hospital and to me she shows no signs of early labour. so another disturbed night (I kept waking up on the hour every hour last night).
apart from that Barnes and I had a quiet day - I sorted out a few easy meals for Son and GS for the next couple of days - with enough for DIL if she does eventually come out of hospital 'with baby'! Then went down their house - let the dog out and filled the fridge with meals. and wonder of wonders - their dog didn't pee on the floor in delight at seeing me! ever since I acted as 'midwife' when she had puppies, I am her favourite person outside HER humans. so I usually have a huge puddle to clean up if I have to go see to her.
the weather wasn't as nice today - but dry at least so Barnes spent a good part of it outside. then came in for a 'cuddle and warm up' before going back out again.

this baby business is making me forgetful - good thing I have some 'Thomas treats' - as I totally forgot to get his 'Dreamies' up the shop earlier. and we have run out.

edited to say - normal service on this thread will resume when the baby is born!
  • Dearie me no wonder they are fed up! Seems quite cruel, would the hospital eventually section her if this continues?

Hopefully tomorrow will bring good news for you all xx

hi nonnie - The ward is 'understaffed' and the two nurses on duty are frazzled! one is running between two or three ladies in labour (seems dangerous to me) while the other is covering the rest of the ward. and even thought its half empty - there are ten four bed wards plus I think its five private rooms? so that's twenty women at least! not all of whom are in labour - some are just in for observation or because they are overdue. I offered to bring a stick of dynamite in for DIL tomorrow and two other ladies in the ward piped up 'fetch some for me'! while the other giggled as she had had her labour stopped and was going home!

She is ten days overdue - and at this stage I don't think they are too worried - its not as if she could be wildly out with her dates.

She's here! our gorgeous baby granddaughter has arrived! Ava Paige weighed in at 10lb 8oz. she looks just like my son when he was born - apart from having very chubby cheeks like GD1. picked GS2 up from school early and we went down to introduce him to his sister - he was really excited.
Mum and baby are being kept in tonight as Ava got 'stuck' and caused a major panic during the birth. its purely precautionary as they live a bit far from the hospital should anything happen --Mum had some slight internal damage....Son said that the delivery room suddenly filled with doctors, midwives and half the hospital staff! but both made it through ok.
BBL - its just I am so excited and out of all the people I have been ringing only two were in!

This made me laugh out loud.

I hope you meant give her a C section rather than "section her "....although all this waiting was enough to drive her insane I suppose :D

    Congratulations to you all. xx

    WELL, What a day!
started at 4.30 when son dropped off GS2 much to Barnes surprise! OH took GS2 into bed with him while I went into spare room. GS2 tells me that Barnes sneaked in with him, lol. an unexpected kiddy bonus for Barnes who loves sleeping with kids! OH didn't notice apparently and GS2 didn't 'rat on him'. then we got up at 7.00 with OH who went to work while I did GS2s breakfast (bacon sandwich without the bread).
before we left for school had text to say they had broken her waters - so GS2 knew his sister would be coming - and I had to tell the teachers as he was so excited he couldn't keep still. on picking him up I asked what he had done in school and he said 'Played'. I guess they gave up trying to get him to concentrate and do any work!!!!!!!!
then he told me that 'this is better than christmas' as we went into the hospital - I laughed and said 'much better'!

when we came out of school he asked if mummy and Ava were coming home today and I had to say no, probably tomorrow. mummys a bit sore and they want to look after her. he nodded sagely and said 'I suppose it hurts pushing a baby out'! lol, just a bit!

we brought him back with us after visiting and he is just so excited! he cant stop chattering about Ava - and he still cant keep still! he has had poor OH playing rugby and football with him off and on since 5.30! Barnes hates that, so he disappeared to hide in his bedroom!
his dad just picked him up and Barnes has come down in search of his supper!

Omg that made me giggle! Up here we talk about someone having a section.....in fact I remember my best friend excitedly phoning me to let me know the date that she was being sectioned :rotfl:
I never thought about it any other way, just shows how the 'lingo' changes depending on where you live, although I've never heard of it being called a caesars ever Meritaten.

Anyway huge huge congrats gran/nan? What a big girl, no wonder your poor dil had a rough time that's such a shame, I hope she's not too sore :( Ava is a beautiful name and I'm sure she was more than worth the wait :)

I'm so glad it's all over with and it'll be lovely once they are home and settled, hopefully you might get a better sleep tonight xx

it seems to be called different things in different areas - heard it called Caesars, Sarians, C-Sections and Caesarians. Down south a 'Section' usually means 'committing mentally ill'! but I guessed what you meant!
Have to admit I am still a bit worried. They had to manually twist the baby out. it was 'panic stations' - sons says half the hospital staff ran into the room! and she says the placenta wasn't intact. I know first hand what that means. I had retained placenta and luckily I was still in hospital. its bluddy dangerous. I will be keeping a very careful eye on DIL because they say she can probably go home tomorrow. and I didn't have problems until 5 days later - and if I hadn't been in hospital - I would have died. we live too far from hospital if retained placenta causes problems.
Tbh - I wouldn't describe Ava as 'beautiful' - she looks like my son did! with 'hamster cheeks'! but I fell in love with her! she is beautiful to her brother though. - he held her as if she was made of glass!

It does seem too soon to be letting her home after all those complications, I'm glad you know what to look out for. That's so nice that her big brother is so taken with her, I hope that continue in a year or two when she is messing with his toys lol xx
