I am in a dilemma over GP, the Uni want the students to register with a local doctor, but my DD is currently undergoing tests with ours and I am loathe to swap her - I am definitely not swapping her dentist. I am sure that if there was an urgent need to see a Dr/Dentist, she can just go as an emergency?!
Did you see my earlier post ^^ 100?[0 -
Thank you Bennifred - that helps :-)0

TV licence. DD not taking TV with her. What can she watch on her laptop without incurring need for TV licence?
Also uni tried to sign her up to their NHS dentist but if I derigster her with current NHS dentist she might not bet back on list here!
I don't think you can watch any live TV but can watch playback?? We have Netflix so that is her substitute..nothing much on TV anyway.
We dropped our DD off yesterday and the most useful things I think we bought her were 2 underbed storage boxes and a clothes airer. Hardly any storage room so the boxes are so useful and it makes it easy to carry her stuff up to her room straight from the car to under her bed...oh and don't forget coathangers and a padlock. Her kitchen had a lockable cupboard for each student. I think we shouldnt have bothered with cooking pots and the crockery set but we will see. We will be going to see her in a few weeks so will take her out for lunch and take another underbed storage box and food and toiletries top-up.
She was lucky I think her halls seem quite well equipped with ironing board, microwave, lamps on desk, new bedding and mattress protectors and even a new mattress, sink in room etc.Grocery challenge October: £228.28/£250.00 NSD 4 ( not completed)

.
I have two large underbed storage boxes from when DD was a toddler and the fill the whole of the underneath of the bed. I just need to empty them to use. I also got an expandable clothes airer 1/2 price in Sainsburys. Oh and a friend gave me two over door hangers which will give her extra hanging space.
She's just taking one saucepan, 1 frying pan from my cupboard and 2 plates, bowls and mugs and 4 tea towels. She is also taking my spare iron as there is no mention of an iron and she needs to iron her work top.
How did you feel leaving DD?~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

Received an urgent text that a splash guard for the microwave is an absolute MUST.0

I bought one of those for my son and apparently no-one else uses it. It seems cleaning the microwave was a really grotty job when they had to clean up in July.
If they aren't going to use it I might have it back for my daughter. On the other hand they might have learnt their lesson and will use it this year!0 -

I've knew many friends that went to uni and stayed in their accommodation.
Their electrical equipment, new and old, did not need testing whatsoever.
They didn't even mention anything about that0 -
Just did a mega shop (well mega for me) in Homebargains with DD. Stocked up on jars of pesto, packets of pasta and sauce, stir in pasta sauce, eggs, tins of tomatoes, crackers, herbs, dips, alcohol, part baked bread, kitchen foil, greaseproof paper and cling film. All 1/2 the price of Tesco. Also got a sea salt container and grinder in one for 89p.
Also bought tea towels, oven gloved, baking trays, pyrex dish, and smallish resealable containers as DD wanted them to take pasta/couscous etc. for lunches to uni to save her buying.
She wanted "distinctive china" so she would know it's hers so bought in Tesco purple and white plates/bowls which are on 3 for 2 so £8 for 3 dinner plates, 1 side plate and 2 bowls. Figured large plates most likely to get broken!
Bought Microwave splatter in Dunelm £1.99 as my spare is missing. Nothing else cheap for students in Dunelm IMO.
Then we went to TK max for a uni bag that was trendy and would fit her laptop.
Finally went to Outfit where Miss Selfridge sale items are BOGOF! So another 2 pairs of shoes, 2 tops, 1 skirt and a dress to add to the packing list! Not bad for £45 though~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)
