Out of interest how much is everyone paying for halls?

DD £4600 plus a £200 returnable deposit, plus £50 hall fees. For this she gets a small bedroom, shared kitchen and bathroom. She requested room with basin but didn't get one.

DD is paying £4062 for 37 weeks. We have paid a £100 deposit. She is in a small house (still on campus) with 3 others girls, she has met 2 of them online. They have a bedroom each, a small living room, kitchen, bathroom and downstairs toilet. She has a sink in her room. We managed to go and look at the house when we popped to the Uni to sort some paperwork out. She can take her car with her, but she would have to pay £220 upfront for the year.
  • £4995 for my daughter. I think it is for 40 weeks.
Plus £100 non returnable fee on top.

    Re registering with GP.

Uni are very proactive in getting DD to sign up with Uni medical service.

Just realised as she isn't 19 till next March she will continue to get free prescriptions and then when her term ends begining of May she can re-register at home with GP and will get free prescriptions until September as she will be living at home in Wales.

So that is one year sorted!

TV licence. DD not taking TV with her. What can she watch on her laptop without incurring need for TV licence?

Also uni tried to sign her up to their NHS dentist but if I derigster her with current NHS dentist she might not bet back on list here!

This is my understanding of the TV licence situation: you can watch catch up tv without a TV licence, you can also watch live tv if you are not plugged into the mains, i.e. if you use the laptops internal batteries to watch. (Don't hold me to it, I am no expert!)

I am in a dilemma over GP, the Uni want the students to register with a local doctor, but my DD is currently undergoing tests with ours and I am loathe to swap her - I am definitely not swapping her dentist. I am sure that if there was an urgent need to see a Dr/Dentist, she can just go as an emergency?!

What does she want to do?

She can stay with her current GP. She should register with the GP closest to where she spends the most time, but no one will force her to move.

If she needed to see a GP near university she could register as a temporary patient. But that works out more expensive for the NHS overall.
