However, a cheap plastic measuring pot with measuring spoons in it from the £1 shop at Asda is fantastic .......go figure!
  • Spotted an offer for 2 x bath sheet towels for £5 in Asda tonight. Not exactly huge, but useful as extras.

My daughter moves into halls this Thursday!
  • All my daughter seems worried about is how she will transport her huge collection of make up!

Surprisingly, I have had no mention of make up. Clothes, yes, i.e. how many new ones she "has too have" - she is going to be disappointed!
  • Problem solved regarding the make up. She has just bought two children's Disney trolley cases from our local facebook bargains board. They were advertised as good to carry toys.:rotfl:
She is going to use them for storage under her bed when she gets there.

One thing I didnt take to uni which i didnt realise i would need was an internet cable for my laptop! My halls was relatively new and I assumed WIFI would be the norm!
If the halls has included internet i would check if this is wifi or where you have to connect to the wall. My halls was selling them for about a 7 quid but you can get them off ebay for about 2 quid!

Also - dont forget insurance! In my 2nd year my house got broken into (on my birthday boohoo) and 7 laptops were stolen! The police had been round previously because of the crime rate being so high in built up student areas and offered to download some software on my laptop for free that would send a signal to somewhere as soon as it connected to the internet if i ever reported it as stolen. (Worth looking into). After a few days the police turned up with 3 of the laptops back as mine had sent off a signal and the other 2 were found in the same location. So i didnt have to actually claim anything but my other housemate - with no insurance - had a nightmare trying to sort things out!
....Speaking of that incident....USB STICK/external hardrive - if they havent already got one, I lost a lot of work as the scumbag who stole my laptop wiped it clean - along with all my assignments. I wasn't backing up regularly so had to start over!

Don't want to scare you all and it probably wont happen but better safe than sorry!

We had insurance added as a compulsory extra to the accommodation charge (15.90) and it says we have wifi.

Trying to find out if there is space under the bed or whether it's a divan as I have a couple of under bed boxes.

Annoyingly DD in a "flat" with 4 other girls but they don't tell them flat number until arrival so she can't make contact with the others so they don't all turn up with an iron etc!
