Nowt to do with clothes but I'm watching 'The Men Who Made Us Thin' on BBC2.
It's an eye opener. Out of 1000 people who diet with weight watchers, only 10 will have kept the weight off.
Just a by the by. :rotfl:
Also wanted to say 'thanks', you lot are a good support sometimes. xHerman - MP for all!0 -
A few suggestions from me:

Or in black if you prefer

Both can be worn with a cardi/shawl/jacket.
This is beautiful:

And so is this: (and it even has a suggested bolero cardi)

A (imho) classy dress:

I wish you all the best for finding something you're happy and comfortable with0 -
I wore black to my son's wedding a few years ago. I too am large (well ok, very large!) I had a trouser suit with a long line jacket in a sort of non-creasing lineny material and I wore a bright pink pashmina and a black feathery fascinator thingy in my hair. Did I look out of place? Who cares! I was comfortable! xx0

I don't see anything wrong with wearing black to a wedding. You will havea smile on your face so will be clear you're at a wedding not a funeral lol. You cold wear it with coloured shoes and a bag so you would have some colourMarried my wonderful husband on 8/9/12 :j0

I really wish I hadn't read this thread!
I was intending to just tell you that I had found a black dress with red flowers, I suspect roses, on and really liked how it looked, despite being large myself. It seems there are lots of sinister meanings to my outfit...
The last wedding I went to I wore a completely black dress with a red pashmina and a red hat as I couldn't get anything with any red in to match.
You could certainly wear burgundy as you say this suits you. I'm a big fan of black floral, so a black base and then pretty colours.
Hope you enjoy the wedding.0 -

These outfits sound lovely and I'm sure no reasonable people would see any negative connotations with them being worn to a wedding0 -

Sorry, I think that most of those are quite unsuitable for a wedding, particularly for a middle aged woman.0
