Can you wear black to a wedding?

Ali try lots of stuff on.
I know it's not nice trying on when you're overweight but we can get stuck in a rut & need to try different stuff.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -

I believe it harks back to medieval mystery plays when the devil would wear green. Indeed the devil was often represented in green in the Middle Ages.
At least, that is what my A Level drama teacher told me!
Or could it be because green is the colour of jealousy....? Or is that reading too deeply into things?!0 -
Monsoon maxi dresses are really smart. They are VERY forgiving and their sizes are generous. Just go along and try on one of everything. You may even find something you like!
They also do accessories that don't make you look like an old frump."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
How large is large?
If you can fit into clothes in Debenhams or John Lewis, then book a personal shopper and get them to find clothes that will look right on you.
The personal shopper is free0 -

Yes - I've used the Debenhams personal shopper service a couple of times and found it really good. There is no obligation to buy anything, you see yourself from someone else's perspective and they know their stock - saves hours of looking (and missing!) things which can look better on than you think. I've ended up buying things I wouldn't have even looked at myself, and loved them
I'll give that one some thought, it seems a bit weird asking someone else to give me clothes to try on. :rotfl:
I suspect I'd not be very relaxed and would spend the whole time trying to suck my belly in and hide my bum against the wall and trying to pretend I'm a size smaller than I am....which of course would be no point as I'd be busted as soon as I couldn't fit into whatever she brought me. :rotfl:
I will mull it over though.

I would rather wear a bin bag that go to a personal shopper :eek::eek: That's just me though

Good luck OP. I bet you will be gorgeous! :T0 -
Of course you can wear black! What do you think men have been wearing for them for decades?
Work out your budget, do your research and then find an in-store personal shopper to help you out, as has been suggested. You'll be fine. Just make sure you get some really bold jewellery if you're going to wear black.0 -
I don't know if you have a store called Klass anywhere near you, they have some lovely clothing for us larger ladies. There is a website but I have always found more choice in the shops.
I don't know what size you are so I do hope I don't offend you , but I have seen this dress on http://www.bonmarche.co.uk/dresses/plus-size-2-in-1-dress-and-cardigan/invt/03451111/&bklist=icat,4,shop,shopbyproduct,dresses&bklist =icat,4,shop,shopbyproduct,dresses and it is really flattering. I also shop in George at Asda and Matalan. Fortunately there is far more choice nowadays for plus size ladies.
I love Klass! I had a look online earlier and didn't see anything 'weddingey' in a dark colour though.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0
