I do like that dress, but I always think that maxi dresses at a wedding look best on those who wouldn't have worn them first time around if you get my drift? I also think that they look best with a shrug, which would then make them (to me) not formal enough for a wedding.

I think you could easily wear that dress to a wedding but for me it would be better shortened to calf length and accessorised with a jacket/hat/fascinator picked out from the colours in the dress.

I never wore a maxi dress first time around, I was a goth :) I'm quite young looking for 41, or so I'm told. I think all freckled people get told that though :D

It's not an especially formal wedding, so a shrug will be fine. I'm usually so scruffy that people will realise I've dressed up anyhow, if I put some make-up on and I'm not wearing ankle boots.

But I know what you mean about not looking formal enough - I remember a few years ago a friend came to a funeral wearing what was obviously a summer maxi dress for parties, with chunky plastic jewellery and the flashy sort of sandals with big fake jewels on them, for the beach. It looked like she'd made no effort and had just come straight from a neighbour's barbeque. It seemed a bit disrespectful. My dress will be fine for this wedding though.

I agree with what people have said about Monsoon maxi dresses. A relative has one and every time she wears it I'm struck by how gorgeous (and flattering!) it is, and am so envious :o

I thought that was really pretty but it's not available for sale.

The tight person in me quite liked the idea of buying something not overly posh/weddingy just so I could wear it again at other times.

Although that said, I think the last time I wore a dress was at my Mother's funeral which was over 20 years ago so I'm not sure my theory holds much water. :rotfl:

I liked that dress too. Not my colour, but it looked like it would be flattering, and you could wear it other times too. Shame it's out of stock :(

Wear whatever your comfortable in ... the people at the wedding who know you - know what you wear normally and won't bat an eyelid, the people who don't know you don't matter! You have been invited as a person - not a manequin, the happy couple want you there, so if a bin bag feels comfy .. a bin bag it is (just make sure you wear some decent accesories with it tho lol)

I would wear black / green /red or blue with purple dots on if I was comfortable.
I do not have a short attention sp .....oooh shiney!! :)

Slight 'aside' here ..... if you didn't get it 'right', what would be worse in your opinion...being overdressed or being underdressed?

Note...I'm not worried about being either, it was just something that came to mind. :D

If you wear something in this sort of style, everyone will be too busy trying not to stare at your boobs, they won't notice if you have a big belly :)

I hate blue and yellow together, it's the worst colour combination anyone ever came up with imo. :D

Thank you though. (And apologies to all those who like blue and yellow together. :o:D)

Personally I think it's better to be overdressed.;)

I've ordered a couple of dresses from the links that have been posted and I'm going into town tomorrow as well so hopefully I get something one way or another.

I guess i wont actually know what's best to go for until I try things on, some things might look better on, some things might be better on the hanger. :rotfl:

I'd definitely rather be overdressed than underdressed. I'd hate to look plain next to others in their finery lol
