God, that is hideous!! ....(hopes no one posts that they bought it!!)
It's pretty nasty to my eyes, too.
But then, that shade of yellow-gold would look terrible on me, because I'm fair-haired - yellows and oranges just make my hair look dirty and my skin sallow. It's a fine line for me....I'm a 'blender', I don't like standing out, I prefer being in the background but then I also would be mortified if I was too casual when everyone else was in diamonds and pearls.
Honestly they don't need accentuating. Any more 'accentuated' and I'd be poking folks eyes out. :rotfl:
But, sweetie-darling, surely one wouldn't so much as pop to Waitrose without at least a couple of diamonds..........?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Since gaining weight, I wouldn't wear anything strapless, but that's just me.

That's a lovely dress, I think.
I'm wearing a maxi dress as I type - it's pretty warm in London, and a thin cotton dress is perfect for this weather.
If you aren't happy with tiny sleeves, you could add a light-weight bolaro / cardigan?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

No but I like it
Having said that, the walls of my living room are lime green and purple, the two smaller walls are lime green, bigger ones are purple (or violet, one or the other).
Wouldnt buy the dress but its not as horrible as yellow and blue would be together.
I know it says yellow on the blurb but that looks orange to me and no Im not colourblind, everyone else in my family is apart from me0 -

I'd definitely not call it orange - it's gold, to my eyes (or on my screen, anyway)....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I wouldn't mind if someone wore black if I was getting married. Hell I wouldn't even mind if someone wore white as long as it didn't look bridal looking. However it someone I didn't like wore white i'd feel they done it on purpose and be fuming haha.
Wear what you feel comfort in at the end of the day the bride and groom probs just want everyone to feel happy and relaxed so its a nice smooth day. Not like your going to be in the offical photos unless you bridesmaid or something.
I wouldn't wear pants as it looks a bit like you can't be assed. Not sure what size you are but Evans do nice clothing as do New look and Matalan.
Just get some colourful jewellery and you will look great. No one is even going to remember what your wearing once everyone had a vodka or two like you said
Enjoy yourself weddings shouldn't be stressful but a joyful happy time to celebrate a couple coming together. Never is though is it am a bridesmaid this month and kinda dreading it. Don't like the dress as its strapless and I hate strapless dresses an I was meant to lose weight and didn't. Am only size 12 but in my 20's and other bridesmaid tiny in height and size.0 -

Strapless dresses (as in no straps) don't look good on anyone, in my opinion. If anyone is other than olympic-fit-toned, they dig in at the top, so that they don't fall down. And someone who is that fit looks breastless.
I was a bridesmaid when I was 3, at my uncle's wedding. I had (for a 3 year old) an absolutely dream dress, it was candy-pink, with more frills and furbelows than you could shake a stick at.
I remember looking at a wedding photo when I was in my early 20s, with my Granny, who reckoned her daughter in law had picked carefullly - it suited me (3 year old, platinum blonde at that age) and looked absolutely awful on the other 3 bridesmaids (all in mid to late 20s) so that DIL had no competition........much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Maybe you're just in denial.:p:D
The tests all came out negative, not colourblind. I did a course in colour therapy a few years ago and the way I view colour definitely changed, living room was painted around that same time. My brother isnt as bad as my mum, she once painted my grans hall stairway green, well it was white with a touch of green, thinking it was magnolia, even my brother spotted what she had done
Needless to say every wall in her house is cream or white. Next stop raspberry paint for my bedroom.
I wouldnt buy the gold/orange/blue dress combo, although if it werent to the floor, I had some spare cash and my wardrobes werent already bursting full of clothes, I might be tempted
Had to remind myself earlier when I was on the DP website that I actually dont need any more clothes.0 -

No strapless only looks good on someone with the body of a child. Plus am quite busty and i've put on weight in that area which sounds great but it makes me look like a matron/mumsy in the strapless dress. Ah well have to grin and bear it. Its a lovely colour inbetween turquoise/teal and got cerise pink shoes and jewellery. Am still trying to shed a stone and got 3 weeks. Whilst am sitting here eating chocolate. I know its going to be like a day before and am like right am defo going to go on a diet haha.
Ah that sounds like a fab dress for a 3 year old but revolting for a 20 year old. When I get married (if I ever do bloody been with my boyfriend 5 years and still no sign) I am going to let my bridesmaid have different shapes of dresses and colours to match their skintones and shapes. Like if I chose pink it be different shades of pink as I had a very tanned friend but my sister is Irish and very ginger so certain pinks would look awful on her.
Hope you enjoy the wedding OP and find something you like. If you have a friend or family member you could take shopping with you maybe you should just go to different shops and try different things. Some things you may not even think look go on you but they might. Sometimes you need other peoples opinion. As I said at the end of the day you can doll yourself up to nines and wear a sparkly glittertastic superduper dress but if you don't feel comfort in it then you will never look good because confidence is one of the most attractive things.0
