  • Hello :)

I decided as I have come back after such along absence that I would count up my old sealed pot(s) to give myself a fresh start. That money has been sitting behind the sofa for a while now just dipped into for parking.

    126 in £2 (100 to be banked!)
20 in 20p (to be banked)
5 in 10p (to be banked)
5 in 5p (to be banked)

A total of £130 to go to the bank! I ran out of bank bags :o

I was very chuffed, I have resolved to put £1 and 20ps in the coke can for dips for parking. Although I might be super fussy and keep a separate jar for that too........... and all other change will be placed in various pots (as per coin type cos I am a bit weird!) and counted when ever we are supposed to be counting it all.

Thank you so much for the lovely welcome :)

p.s I will put my number in my signature

Sparky and Sue UU thank you for your kind words regarding the wig. However, I have loved being bald and it now feels odd to have/see hair on my head. haha :) So I'm tending to go with the bald/scarf look, but at least the wigs there if I feel like a change. I suspect when Winter comes (what a depressing thought!) I'm be glad for a bit of hair on my head in the form of a wig for a bit of warmth :)

Potted "change" today but didn't count it - just kept feeding the pot.

Am off to a wedding reception next weekend and bagged a bargain dress on Ebay yesterday - sooo excited about it arriving. Cant wait to get dressed up for a few hours at the reception with lots of lovely people.

A very warm welcome, failingfast (that'll soon be "rising quickly"). It's lovely to have you with us. biggrin.gif Enjoy yourself saving and join in the banter. You'll find your number at the bottom of the list on post 5 of page 1. Please read through post 1 as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge.

Please also subscribe to the thread by clicking on "Thread Tools" (lower green bar) and clicking "Subscribe to this thread"...or you may lose us! To put your SPC No on, go to "Quick Links" (right side of top green bar), click and then click on "Edit Signature" and you're away. ;)

*Please pop your numbers on your sigs, it really helps.

Never mind, have enlisted my Mum to tally up each month and re-seal!

Do so by all means if you want to keep tabs of the running total, failingfast, but if you'd sooner have a surprise at the end then don't worry about keeping account. Either way, there's no need to un-seal it, pop your savings in another pot/purse, then count up every week/month and pot it for real. Your pot, your choice. ;)

Hi all potted another £4.60 from loose change at the bottom of my bag! Don't mean to wish my life away but I am so excited to get to end November so I can open it!!!
    DDx

Read my lips, Determined diva, NO, NO, NO - in fact 100 times NO!!!! Now behave before the naughty bench beckons!

A lovely welome, mummytummy, thank you and best wishes to down under.

Hi again, Buffy, that was quick! Brilliant news about your savings!!!!!! :T If you'd like to have it added with whatever else you save the you're welcome to. Pop the amount as "£130 banked" on your siggy and sparky will add it to your Total in November. Thanks a lot for popping your No on.

Whatever you're happy with, Nell, then you go with it. All best wishes for the wedding reception with your super dress next weekend! :happylove

  • Yesterday I decided to change up my pot of very small change and add it to my main pot. Went to the exciting coin exchange machine at my local supermarket, and was very pleased that I had £15.36

(By the way I did recently notice that my bank had a change paying in machine next to the notes paying in machine, I never knew there was that facility)

So I added £15 in notes to my main pot, which felt very good!!

Have a great week everyone, heatwave next weekend!

Hi Carol, I don't mean to burst your bubble, just to let you know for the future, that the co!nstar machines in supermarkets take at least 8% of your cash!!!!!! :(

Banks are fine, so by all means use them, but give the supermarkets a wide berth.

Never mind, looking on a far brighter side - VERY well done of having saved the £15!!! That really is great going! :j Thanks a lot for the tip off about next weekend. :D

Sorry it's been so long. I've only just caught up on all the posts. Hello to all the new guys.
I have been potting nearly everyday. It's become a habit now and one that makes all the difference. Unfortunately in April I lost my overtime payments (a whopping £300 a month ) so things have been a little tight. I haven't been potting as much and as a precaution I've got a holding pot which all my change goes in first so it's there if I need it. At the end of the week it gets potted. The good news is I've just started a new job with a pay rise which almost makes up for the overtime lost. I also know what I want to get with what I've saved - a trip to Australia in 2015.
One of my pots is almost full. I can't wait to empty it and count it.

Have a good week everyone :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Afternoon all.

failingfast - welcome to the thread and good luck.

nell36 - nice to see you so positive (as ever). Enjoy that wedding.

Potted a single £2 coin today.
Had a great result in Sainsbury's - used a 800 points for a £20 spend along with a £3 off £20 coupon. Got hubby quite a few bottles of beer (on offer for £1) and bits including an ironing board cover for £3.50 (half-price). But equivalent to £7 off £20 spend (spent £20.50 before deductions - lol).

£490+ potted now and I'll try hard to get that tenner this week.

  • Thank you Sue for the advice about the Supermarket Cash Exchange Machines. I think I did kind of know there was a deduction but somewhere in the back of my mind I thought it was a charity thing (how naive am I????), so brushed it aside. I bet you are horrified!!

I definitely wouldn't use them again, especially for large amounts
