My whole village gets drunk on carnival day, and one year there was a shoe-throwing contest that got a bit out of hand.
One of mine went out to sea, but it was when I was on a garage roof trying to find the other one that Mr. Desmond appeared straight from work, yelled 'What are you doing!?' and I had to quickly (and truthfully) reply 'Looking for my shoe'.
To add to the right rollicking I knew I'd get, I then nervously and drunkenly half fell/slipped off the roof, stood up.....and threw up.

Bloody good day though

I have to say, what with the village-wide booze-up and the dolphins, wherever you live sounds bl**dy marvellous! :beer:0 -
After a student night out in Sheffield I caught the last train home and was pleased when the guard woke me up at the station. Unfortunately it was Leeds station (I lived near a village about half-way between the two) and I ended up spending one cold November night in the outside waiting rooms on Leeds station with some rather interesting (and scary) characters until I could catch the first train back home...
You could be my brother - he's done that a few times now! Our parents (and him obviously - although I've finally moved out!) Live halfway to Leeds and we both studied in Sheffield. I'm quite a stickler and would ensure the guard knew I had to get off at the right village (and then be met at the station as it's a dodgy one!) however brother would just snore his way to Leeds!
I think the silliest thing I've done is the classic turning up early because I'd forgot the clocks had changed - even though I spent most of the previous day reminding everyone!
I sound rather boring now don't I!************************************
Oct 2025 Grocery Challenge: £302/£3000 -
Yesterday I wore a new vest from M and s. bought it back in spring I suppose.
Only when sorting out my laundry this afternoon did I realise I spend yesterday with 'buy two for £8' on a sticker on one of my ample breasts,

The most stupid thing I did was to walk down the aisle and got married when every instinct I had was screaming at me not to do it. That was 3 years ago and I'm now happily single again.0

I bought some stuff online today and I wanted a broom but I couldn't remember the right word for one
so I kept typing in outdoor brush, garden brush, sweeping brush. in sixth form, we were stood outside the classroom waiting for the lesson to start. We were talking about the lessons we had later in the day and one teacher came up in conversation. She was very strict and really pushed the students. I happened to say something like, "Oh I'm really not in the mood for x, I can't be arsed today".
Yes, she was standing behind me! She didn't say anything but she definitely heard. Her lesson wasn't for another 5 hours and god, didn't I dread it! I sweated buckets but had nowhere to hide in the class. Facing her was mortifying.
The funny thing was she was actually a brilliant teacher and one of my favourites. 11 years later and i still squirm when i think about it.0 -
Things that spring to mind recently:
I was putting on a load of washing. I took the belt out of my jeans and put the washing on and went back upstairs to find the jeans on the landing. I had only washed the belt which fell apart in the wash.
I drove down to my sisters which is 140ish miles away, I turned on the sat nav and could not see it very well and ended up turning the volume up so I actually knew where i was going. It was only the next day I found that it was in night view and night view does not work very well in full sun.0 -
I made repeat tannoy announcements for a car VRP471W to be moved as the car park backed on to the police station and they were going to do a controlled explosion.
Finally put out a call that the company and police would take no responsibility for any damage and did not think any more of it until I went home that night.
My car was parked all alone - I had been putting out calls for MY car.0 -
Drove to Birmingham to see UB40, checked the tickets for which car park - Wembley Arena
Sent out an email apologising for the delay in replying as I have been very busty today
Lost a hearse whilst following it to the funeral, took the wrong exit off the roundabout. Got left behind because lights went red. Only problem was everyone else followed us. Realised and got back on right road quite quickly.
I am sure there are more0
