Tell me what stupid things you have done so I don't feel such an idiot!

My mum is Irish and likes Irish music and dance so for her birthday this year I bought her 2 tickets to see Riverdance in Novemeber at the Royal centre in Nottingham. She was pleased and is looking forward to going.

I have just been on the same website to see what Christmas shows they have got on and scrolled all the way down to December and happened to notice that it had not advertised Riverdance....so I scrolled......and scrolled......and scrolled some more until I was all the way at the bottom of the listings and sure enough there it was, Riverdance tickets for November 2014 . So basically I didnt check the year and the performance my mum thinks she's seeing in November she will not be seeing until next year oooops!

Will have to explain to her and hope she sees the funny side. Good job I noticed, what a fool she'd have looked turning up a year early :rotfl:

This is not the first time i've done something daft but i'm sure i'm not alone, what daft things have you done and not realised at the time?

  • You are not alone, and I am not admitting to anything here...

Your Mum should see the funny side, your intentions are good, just a year early..Get her the Riverdance DVD for her birthday with a jokey card. May be a nice afternoon tea somewhere will also help.

Turned up to a job interview on the wrong day, though in my defense the agent made the mistake of emailing me saying it was to be on Tuesday 12th when in fact the Tuesday was the 11th. On the phone they had correctly said Wednesday 12th but I read the email and turned up on the Tuesday :(

Didn't go back on the next day as felt too much a fool

Was supposed to go on a day course in Plymouth but got a train to Portsmouth instead.

Agree with the above, as long as she hasnt done anything like booking hotels etc then I am sure it'll all be fine. Take her for afternoon tea somewhere and then have riverdance on your tablet/ laptop/ phone to watch together at during it :)

I didn't do it but husband did. He once booked us on a ferry to France from Dover in a few weeks time, but the time he chose for us to go we were already on holiday in the U.S

He's never been allowed to book another trip without me double checking what he's done. :rotfl:

I recently checked what times a shopping centre was open online the day before, drove there (it's a big one so drove a bit of a way). All the way there my boyfriend and I were commenting on how nice it is to have the roads clear etc etc. Got to the parking (the parking was open) and commenting on how clear the car park is, really pleased there were available places right by the front door, got out the car into the shopping centre and all the shops were closed! I'd seen the previous day's opening hours when looking it up, not Sundays! The shops weren't open for another two hours...

Ha ive done this aswell only wasn't Portsmouth, I was coming back from a funeral and catching the train home to Nottingham, didn't realise it was the London train waiting at the platform I just assumed it was my train coming in early....luckily I was able to get off at next stop :rotfl:

Also turned up to work an hour early because I didnt realise the clocks had been put back an hour and when I was 15 I once came down fully clothed and washed for school at 7am, wasnt until I was ready to go that I realised why my family kept giggling....it was Saturday!

As my mother would say....i'm a f**kin eejit!

I'm currently unpacking a rather large order of surgery supplies, including a LOT of needles in the wrong size. Frantically checked the purchase order and I've made a typo :o. Now I need to convince the supplier to swap them for the right ones... or hide them somewhere.

I attended a company wide week long meeting in London, as was the case back then it was an incredibly boozy week and the last day we had spent all afternoon in the pub, I caught my train home, I was woken up by the guard in Glasgow.

Which would have been fine but I lived on the outskirts of Leeds :D, £45 in taxi fares and £79 for a flight saw me home 4 hrs later :o
