He didnt just forget the toothbrush...he forgot the suitcase

OK.. so son has gone away for the week with friends on holiday and it seemed an ideal opportunity to spend a few nights away ourselves...

Hubby finds a cheap deal booked at a really good deal, manages to get the time off work and so I rush round packing a suitcase ready for our few days away...

Arrive at destination get out of the car and tell him to bring the bags up whilst I check in...
now you would think that seen as I spent time packing the bag he could have at least picked it up off the bed and put it in the car...5 hours away from home and he now tells me he thought I put it in the car!

So our cheap break has worked out not so cheap when you factor in the the fact that both of now have just the clothes we stand up in to last the rest of the week...

Anyone else found that their cheap bargain suddenly became a little more hassle and expensive than you planned?

I guess my consolation is when I get home i'll have some clean clothes to wear...that are neatly packed and waiting

Hahahaha that's brilliant! I shouldn't laugh, poor you. Make sure he buys you lots of wine to make up for it, and maybe find a primark if possible.

I've learnt not to take my mother/sister away on holiday. With dad/OH, we can scrimp, get really cheap lunches, dinners etc. They ALWAYS have to eat at fancy restaurants and a 'cheap' break ends up costing you 10 times at much when you're having silver-service each night!!!
  • Opps but the key is communication.

Anyway most fun things require no clothes at all :D

Oh bless that's funny. I have no idea how I would have reacted. Firstly been angry and second cracked up laughing lol.
Make sure you get lots of lush dinners out and wine!!!

My DH did the opposite recently on a short break. After our last night at the hotel we brought our luggage down and he was in charge of putting it in the boot (as he's fussy about what goes where). I got straight into the car, he finished with the boot, got in the car and we drove off.

2 hours later we get a call on his mobile - it's the hotel saying he'd left our suitcase sitting in their carpark. :rotfl:
  • Same happened here for a weekend break.

I packed my bag and put it by the front door and went to work.

DH had instructions to put it in the car along with his bag and drive and meet me at our destination (I commuted on train so was meeting him there).

He arrived with his bag looking pleased as punch, mine no where to be seen

I think I would've burst into hysterics, before the cold dawn of realisation crept in and I made him a eunuch.

I was cross enough when my OH proudly told me he'd unplugged the virgin box (therefore ruining my carefully planned recordings for the week) when we were on the plane. If he'd actually forgotten clothes as well he probably wouldn't have made it home again.

The reality of this may be starting to dawn...not that I'm fickle...but my makeup bag was on top of the suitcase....

Oh how you suddenly miss home comforts when they arn't around you

    Been there, done it all.

Packing now is putting half my clothes in his case and half his clothes in mine, so we both would have some at least if one case went missing.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
