    Oh poor you!

I know, from experience, the pain from kidneys can be excruciating.

You've done your bit from the family members from hell and come out of it the other side. Put it behind you and learn from this experience so it doesn't happen again. You'll be ready with your responses when the next call or email arrives.

Rest and recuperate. Thanks for posting.:)

I think you should avoid the stress of the Sword of Damocles hanging over you wondering whether they will want to come and stay again by pre-melting the matter in writing. Tell them the damage that was done and that in the i terest of preserving future good relations it would better if they stayed in a hotel in future. And I'd be tempted to add a sneaky
PS. And I do think it is nice when people write to say thank you!

Way too subtle for this family to pick up on.

I have read this whole thread.

    Wow

I feel so sorry for those children ' I don' t know how' as a response to an invitation to play at the park. How sad. Did they come for Christmas? How do they get through life like that?

Bloody hell, this family sounds ghastly. :( I guess it's not the kids fault that they are how they are though. Monkey see, monkey do, and all the jazz!

Say a very definite no next time. But that does mean that you can't stay at theirs unfortunately. :(
