Any [official] data (figures) to back this assertion up?

Yes there is if you look for it - try the government websites!! Look for the answer first before asking someone else to do it for you.

I got the figures from the ONS

Nice try Andy but you're the one coming on here blurting out figures without providing any source of reference to back them up; ergo you have ZERO credibility as far as they're concerned!!

As I have already said on this thread, it is perfectly legal for someone to sit in the car and await the return of the badge holder. I checked with the local authority and they confirmed this.
    Please get your facts straight.

I was approached by a CEO whilst parked up who asked if the BB on display was mine. When I said it was I was told I was OK being parked up.

If the Badge had been my passengers then I would either had to have paid for parking or move my Vehicle.

And before I get crucified I was waiting for my Mum to get my wheelchair out the boot for me.

Absolutely!! The guy that died had no right to even attempt to park in a BB reserved space without having a BB.
In my mind, although tragic, it was self inflicted.

    .

    I find you absolutely vile.
The opposite of what you know...is also true
  • unfortunatley ASDA disability bays are subject to equalities act that is something asda have NO authority over as its an act passed by parliament.

ASDA have no conditions on disabled parking in my local store, it simply states, disabled parking only not blue badge only bays the only thing it does mention is that blue badge holders are not expempt from pay and display all visitors to the store shall display a valid pay and display ticket in their window we operate ANPR and CCTV surveilance bla bla bla get your car is not covered in terms of loss damage by employee's in their course of their duty visitors or contractors of asda are not liable for loss damage or injury BS etc etc etc.

this store had ANPR name and shame TV display in the lobby to act as deterrant to anti social joy riding by way of: numberplate name and surname make model of car and a snap shot, they got their A$$ handed to them in local court and ordered to take it down, and also had to suspend all anpr operations untill cctv and anpr system was approved by planning department of local council.

its a crying shame what happened to this poor elderly man, it goes to show that no matter the age were all capable of violence, if theres a relative here for the poor family this happened to no matter who was in the wrong, this man did not deserve to die and i send my upmost sympothy to them.

if there is a relative of the person who committed this crime here, im sure this must have come as a shock and totaly out of the blue, im sure the relative who did this did not mean to strike to kill, and is now forever mentally scarred and full of remorse of his actions, it must be difficult and shamefull and that i hope that when the times comes he will gladly take his punishment and fully pay his debt to society.

humans make silly mistakes and acts in their lives, it would be unfair to point hatred towards the family of a man who made a poor judgemnt call to throw a punch in haste of anger, when his family had nothing to do with his actions.

the OP reduced me to reflect upon how society has become so short tempered, it made me reflect upon my childhood and being taught always respect the person who needs the most, as one day youll never know when you need someone or something the most.

im only 29, i wounder how can so much of society can change in such a short time.

out of respect i dont use disabled bays, i am eligable for BB scheme but i choose not to apply out of my own personal choice, i beleive they should go to the poeple that need them the most, so if i can respect what a disabled bay means, i hope after this tragedy (and why should it take a tragedy?) it will open people minds about what the term disability means especially for the elderly and hope that all elderly middle age and young will respect the disablities of eachother no matter what the capabilities, and give a bay to those who need it the most!

Maybe it differs from region to region because as I said I checked with the local authority & they gave me the go-ahead. They pointed out that it defeated the purpose if I had to walk any distance to return to the car.

You really are sick aren't you. You should hang your (empty) head in shame for such a crass, vacuous and insensitive remark.

However being the rebarbative troll that you are I very much doubt you will.

I just wonder if you'd have had the guts to say the above to this poor bloke's family. I very much doubt you would preferring to cowardly hide behind your grubby little keyboard in squalid anonymity!
  • Yes, it's Andy back under another user id. You can tell his trolling posts straight away, he doesn't fool the genuine posters here who are able to pick him up easily. Best to ignore him or report for posts like that "he deserved it" one. He is seriously sick in the head to get his pathetic kicks from hiding behind a keyboard like the cowards trolls really are, especially for picking on a disabled board.

Maybe as per the current news stories about net bullying, there should be a "name and shame" enforcement on forums especially for such people? I don't think they would be very happy with their relatives and neighbours knowing about their dirty little secret?

    - s/he's [in anticipation of PPR again] already opened one new account yesterday [09-08-2013]
    - there may be other 'live' Andy & Flo 'sleeper accounts'

  • One must address the issue of the busy bodies of the older generation. Blue badges do not count on private land. I park in asda with out my badge, the badge i have does not apply on private land. and yes if an old man or anyone told me off i would not display it i would tell then to mind their own f***** business
