    I'm sure whatever words ...

If I was on that sofa with McVey, I would have said something like ......................:D

What we really need is going forward are idea showers from platform atheists that incentivise those who touch base without needing to loop back, after all you can't you can't turn a tanker around with a speed boat change so what we really need is a we need a holistic, cradle-to-grave approach to Blue Badges. etc etc

I'm sure there's a political party out there that will snap you up as a speech-writer.....

Standard rate PIP is for walking unaided or aided up to 50m - same as current Higher rate DLA. Schrodie is correct.

Of course Standard rate pip won't get Motability - that's why the Government have changed the goalposts so they can save money. That's if they do.

Well if the Standard rate is as simple as you say it is - why are the government bothering to re-assess those that have indefinite HRM of DLA? Surely common sense dictates that they should just be moved over? That's if what you think and say is correct!

Seems strange to me that when you actually get down to it and honestly assess yourself against both HRM for DLA and Standard for PIP - many like myself wouldn't actually qualify for mobility PIP of any level!

I accept the inevitable and believe that it has been a long time coming. I'm not upset, personally I don't care one way or another.
Life to me is not one long fight with the DWP - been there done that. Life is for living and enjoying.
If people want to put themselves through endless claims, appeals, assessments and Tribunal hearings good luck to them. I would much rather sit back, read a good book and have peace of mind, not waiting for a brown envelope to drop on my doormat.
This philosophy just happens to coincide with your 65th birthday. Wonder why you have that 'holier than thou' attitude? You have had the time to milk it at its best (and have likely done so) and you just luckily fell out of that window with your retirement age.

Congratulations to you for ripping the system for so long and congratulations on your business ventures and retirement. Enjoy it.

It's now being reported that the victim was displaying a blue badge. This is why it's best to wait for the facts to emerge before judging.

what has my 65th got to do with it?

DLA/PIP continues after you are 65.

Mt attitude comes because of wisdom. At 65 I feel that life should be taken at a slower pace with the least amount of stress.

All in all I stand to lose a total of well over £100 a week when PIP comes in in 2015. Surely it is better to try to mitigate that than to carry on with endless fights that you will never actually win - you might win a few battles with the DWP but the war itself will overtake you eventually.

But was she in the car or in the supermarket with the dead husband parked up in the bay waiting for her to come out?

If so he should not have been in that bay - he should have parked elsewhere and pulled the car to the door when she emerged.

I have seen this myself with people sitting in a car parked in a disabled bay whilst the badge holder was doing their shopping.

"A source close to the investigation said yesterday: “The victim was parked perfectly legally and was displaying the correct badge. He was a carer for his wife, who was with him at the time. She has a disabled badge entitling them to use the disabled bays.”

Because DLA is NOT the same as PIP, just like IB is NOT the same as ESA....comprende!!!

Also given that the government wants to throw 20% off DLA and make it more difficult to claim PIP everyone (save those aged 65 and over on 8 April 2013) even those currently getting indefinite DLA Care and/or Mobility will be reassessed.

    Got it now Andy?

I'm fully aware of that fact. I was referring to comments made:

    Schrodie
If you receive the high rate of Mobility DLA then you automatically qualify for a BB. It's taken that you cannot walk or "virtually" cannot walk >50m if you have HRM DLA so sensibly they have decided to automatically award a BB to those people who not only receive the enhanced rate of PIP Mobility BUT also the standard rate of PIP Mobility as the Standard Rate of PIP Mobility reflects a similar situation to the current HRM DLA situation.
