Scammed over a scooter on ebay

I've never seen anything quite like it, honestly. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. But I don't think you have enough rattling around in your craniums to quite grasp how phenomenally useless and unhelpful, and then offensive on top of it, you've been.
Have you ever heard this little pearl: If you don't have anything helpful to say, don't say anything? I've got a feeling many here would be muter than a Trappist monk if they followed that advice fully.
The saying goes, if you have not got anything good to say then don't say it at all.
However more suited to you on you techiness

for a 250 cc scooter this quote from the ebay description would have made any normal individual pass it on by. very fast reaches up to 100mph0

100 mph??
If you dump it by throwing it off a very high cliff!0 -
I think some are being a bit harsh on the OP. Yes he might have been a bit naive but he has done nothing wrong, whereas some scum has stolen £600 from him and the police do not want to know!
Ebay market themselves on the fact as long as you go through paypal it is safe to buy from them I have seen large banners on their site stating this. It does not say on those banners excluding motor purchases (I sure there must be a link somewhere explaining this but its not easy to see - I certainly never knew motor purchases were excluded, buyers should be warned on the item pages in the motor catergory)
To me the bike looks nice and in good condition.
Like someone else said all might not be lost have you taken it to a garage to see what the cost of repair would be?
Are people saying on here that just because someone has been a bit stupid they deserve to get scammed? No decent person deserves to get scammed.0 -

And rightly so, as it's nothing to do with them.0 -

Why is it nothing to do with them? Is it not against the law to scam someone? (genuine question btw)0 -

It is nothing to do with them (the police) remember just because the Op has created the thread doesn't mean they are correct and right now it's not an attack on the OP, there are purchasers that try it on too, eg none delivered item or damaged in transit all because they changed their mind.
So yes he was naive, but if he is not going to accept that then the launches against him are quite rightly justified.
We could equally have had a thread started by someone who says" I sold a scooter to someone miles away on ebay, they purchased without previewing the item, and now after them taking delivery have decided the item was not as described or damaged what do I do?"
So yes he has to take this up with PP and Ebay.0 -

Sounds like Fraud by Misrepresentation to me...
but as usual, the police are too quick to pass issues off as civil matters.0 -

Not really, sounds like the seller did what most do, big up the good points.
Someone posted on here the other day about his Renault and a light that kept coming on. He hung up when the buyer phoned up to complain.
Is he a fraudster too?0 -

What exactly is your game? The bike is nothing close to what the seller said in their ad. Nothing even close. Why are you trying to defend them? Is this some kind of trolling exercise? Not only have you refused to be helpful in any way, but you seem to think that there's really nothing amiss here to be complaining about. It is a total non runner with bits falling off it. Have you even read the description in the ebay ad?0
