Bit like reading about me and what happened recently. I've been apart from my husband for nearly 7 years. spent most of that time racing round after two children (my ex hasn't had them for one weekend in 7 years - and we found out recently he has had his own place for 3 years - was living with his mum).
Just when my eldest passed his driving test that's when my last and only relationship came along. I knew him and his wife from a few years back - he said he'd split 18 months ago, divorce not through but totally ready to move on. No he wasn't. He talked about our future together, although he wasn't perfect, I think I totally fell for him. First sign of me expressing what I wanted in a way - he couldn't deal with it and dropped me like a ton of bricks.
Internet dating? Well joined match.com for the 3 free days - I don't want to generalise - but I too think I'm pretty normal. But, as I suspected, there aren't many 'normal' men on there!0 -
There are lots of decent men on internet dating sites, its just finding them.0

Im getting there :rotfl::rotfl:
As disspondant as I sometimes feel, its days like today I can actually laugh at things.
Im waiting for 2guys to send a few more pics of themselves as there pictures are not clear. I get the coffee meets, don't get me wrong, but there Normal and mine are two totally different things :rotfl:0 -
I have done the coffee dates with several men and realised quickly they aren't for me - the last one I went with a similar expectation but the sparks were amazing and they were for the next 9 weeks - he booked us a week away in Spain -still amazing talking about a future (slowly ie no kids involved for 6 months at least both on the same wave length or so I thought ) and then we get back and bang no texts and then the 'friends' talk .......... but apparently i am the best friend he has ever had !!! He is away this week so am leaving it to see what happens when he gets back but i am not hopefulBeen stupid but have no regrets starting to slowly sort my finances now the kids are growing0

That's why I wont get too involved with a man straight away.
Unfortunately most men want to get involved and don't want to take it slow.
I too have fallen for not one guy but three and for there reasons (the last one it wasn't his fault, just his ill health) have ended it.
So im taking it all at my own pace now and chatting to a few and im going to meet a few too.
I want friends first, and to get to know them, if they don't then its there loss. Im a lot harder and wiser this time round. Im looking for a good one and if it takes a lot of searching then so be it.0 -
I read a very interesting article I think yesterday in the Sun - regarding some Coronation Street actress - Shobna someone, I've never seen the soap in my life. She is I think 47 and was dating a guy who was 30. I've done my time of internet dating and would never be in a relationship again, but that's a sidestep. But the article was so interesting with regards to age difference and the use of technology in a relationship. She said that she would rather pick up the phone and speak to someone, she doesn't have facebook, whereas the 30 year old guy would only ever text her. She even said that she'd resorted to texting and sending him pictures when they were sitting next to each other!
It's perhaps a generation thing - I'm 42, on the rare occasions when I've met someone for a coffee/drink, I'd never dream of sitting with my mobile on the table waiting for a text or a message, or surfing facebook - I don't even know my own mobile number. Yet I had a friend to stay recently who got up at 3am to check facebook!0
