What ever anyone thinks... It doesn't matter... Its done and dusted.
You will get plenty of these sort of rebuffs on dating sites.. some nice, some nasty... and maybe you will send a few nice replies saying thanks but no thanks.
That's life and in a few hours time 24hours would have gone by, then tomorrow 48 etc etc and it wont matter, because there will be another message come along or you will message someone else.
Life goes on and you didn't even know him and he didn't know you.

I have a friend whose marriage broke down and she started seeing someone almost immediately, 20 years on they are still together and were married as soon as her divorce came through.

Its not always timing thats the issue, its the quality of the person you meet.

Nothing wrong with wanting a bit of company, most of us feel like that at some points.

Depends on how long you've been unhappy.
I know for myself I couldn't date anyone that quickly only a day after a partner had moved out. You may not have any baggage but until you start meeting people you may find you have.
Just chat and don't see it as meeting any potential partner.
Spend time thinking about what you want and have man free time.
