MSE News: TalkTalk and Plusnet customers to be hit by price hikes

Did you ever have a fixed-price contract?
In your posts, you sometimes refer to it as "my new two year fixed price contract" and sometimes as "this two year fixed term contract": quite different things!
I suspect it was never fixed-price, whatever impression you may have got.
If the T&C's says they can increase the prices, but if they do you have the right to terminate the contract without penalty, then that seems reasonable to me
Sorry if I confused you.
The two year fixed price contract I took out 4 months ago actually turns out not to have fixed at all as Plusnet resorted to using a clause in an earlier contract that apparently applies to everyone, namely that they can increase prices whenever they want by how much they want no matter what contract they sold you at a later date.
Ask yourself, why would anyone be induced to staying with them on a two year contract other than for the fixed price element?
Plusnet don't question that it was a two year fixed price contract so I don't know why you should.0 -
@bendaw
Nobody likes a price rise.
Sooner or later, no matter how much you protest on this thread, you`ll have to speak to them.
When you do talk to them and explain your position they will make you an offer.
Then you either stay or go.
You are quite right and this wouldn't be an issue if I hadn't gone through all of this four months ago.
Suppose I did that though, they will impose the same excuses for not honouring any new contract as they have for this present one - which was sold as being for two years at a fixed price
See my earlier posts for details of Plusnet's shabby behaviour0 -

I`ve read ALL the posts in this thread and we all know what`s happened to you.
What you have to do now is SPEAK to them and either get a deal or leave.

You'll be looking to pay an extra 50p each month so yes you'd avoid paying early termination fees across the whole contract. The Line Rental Saver payment is non-refundable though. Are you actually thinking of leaving or is this a hypothetical question?

It's not just 50p increase a month, as I make mobile phone calls as well.
These changes would make a bigger difference come January next year, as I would have to pay the additional cost of line rental for the remaining 6 months of my contract.
Thus I would want my contract to cease in January, as this breach in contract would be of material detriment to me.0 -
I have 11 months remaining on my Plusnet contact, which I took out in January. The contract was Line Rental (paid upfront), Talk Anytime and Fibre Optic Broadband.
My question is as I will be hit by the increased charges on my Talk Plan, will I be able to cancel my whole contract (including line rental) and be reimbursed for the unused line rental?Plusnet_company_representative wrote: »Hi,

Bob,
Where a company breaks or changes the terms and conditions of ones contract and allows them to leave without penalty, as both you and all the others have done, that does actually mean *without penalty*.
I'm sure you understand what I mean.0 -
Plusnet are the greatest, despite what I have posted earlier.0

hi bendaw, i,m not sure why your worried about being stuck in your contract, if your not happy you simply ring them, and request Mac code and leave penalty/charge free? due to the price increase, if you recieved the email notifaction, ACT now before its too late. you no need to worry about being stuck in contract, as you have a choice to leave or stay,
the choice is totally yours and you WONT be charged anything (penalty charges)0 -
Did they give you a better deal, then?
Or has your account been hacked?
Account not hacked and I'm staying for full 2 years.
I'll leave it at that, Doc, thanks for your interest0
