MSE News: TalkTalk and Plusnet customers to be hit by price hikes

Just wanted to let everyone know that I had success with getting a partial refund (pro-rata basis) of the remaining Line Rental.
If anyone has been having issues with CS refusing to partially refund the line rental saver, I writing a strongly worded email to their 'Complaints' department (through Help Assistant), pointing out that due to their breach of contract, you are entitled to leave 'without penalty', which includes getting the line rental amount refunded.0 -
It doesn't need checking.
It's plain and simple as I've said in my cut and paste statement
Surely Plusnet will honour it?
Well yes, we'd have to. I'm just trying to avoid the inevitable furore if next year comes round and you find that you've been charged £137.88

Bob, if you agree to stay with plus net for two years as i have, because i am more than happy with them,it is not actually a fixed price contract in that two years in a row i will pay the same up front line rental?
I am ok with that, as i don't remember being told it was a fixed price ,just wondered that's all.0 -

I'm not sure what you mean?
In bendaw's case they've been told that they can take out a Line Rental Saver contract today for a one-off payment of £125.88 (which they can).
My concern arises from the fact that they have also been told this will renew in a year's time at the same price. I know how our systems work and it won't.
Neither is it possible to pay two years up front.
The renewal price for a Line Rental Saver customer in this position rises to £137.88 after October 1st 2013.
I want to check what measures have been put in place by the person that offered this to avoid any potential upset when renewal date comes round next year.
Best regards,

whats your response to this Bob pullen? as it certainly contradicts your previous comment and blows it out of the water. I guess without this poster we would be non the wiser, can see why you kept this quiet about getting a refund
"If you cancel Line Rental Saver within seven working days of your order you will get a full refund on your advance payment to the debit or credit card you paid with. Otherwise the Line Rental Saver charge is non-refundable. "

NittyGritty wrote: »what was the wording in full you used to get them to issue you a partial refund? and also what was the email you used to send it too, did you open a ticket on plusnet or use a different form?
I used the ticket system and chose 'Make in a complaint', found under 'Customer Service'.
The main point I raised was the following:The line rental saver I agreed to pay in January was part of the call & broadband package. Thus by Plusnet illegally breaching the terms of contract, I am entitled to leave without penalty and also financially I should be no worse off because of it. However I am unable to move to another call/broadband provider without moving the line rental as well.
I then requested the amount pro-rata basis that should be refunded.
ie. (£125.88 * (xxx/365) ) where xxx is the amount of days left of the contract.0 -
Has anyone had any luck getting a partial refund for prepaid line rental with talktalk?
We are on the essentials package and paying just the 3.25 a month at the moment.0 -

Just argue the point I mentioned in my previous post and threaten them with further action if they don't abide by your demand.0 -

Sorry Bob i didn't really explain myself very well.
When i renewed my upfront line rental in May i asked about any discounts on the broadband package and was told that if i signed up to stay with plusnet for a further 2 years that they would be willing to look at that favourably. At no point was i told it was a fixed price contract and did not necessarily expect it to stay the same for 2 years. That is why i was surprised to read of someone getting what they believed was a fixed price for 2 years.0
