Did they give you a better deal, then?

Or has your account been hacked? ;)

Account not hacked and I'm staying for full 2 years.

I'll leave it at that, Doc, thanks for your interest

What a waste of a perfectly good thread.
  • Ive been with talktalk 5 years now with no problem with service. I recently signed up to a new 18 month contract as i had fibre installed.
I got a letter from them the other day saying they were upping the costs for line rental and broadband and they then gave me the 30 days to get out of the contract for free. Am wondering if moving providers would save me anything as most providers are are still more expensive than talktalk. I know that they all have there discount offers to try to entice you in then wack you with there standard rates and tie you to there long contracts
  • not sure this deal is for you but quidco are offering £100 cashback for broadband only, if you pay upfront with sky it will reduce your line rental over the year also, always worth looking at cashback sites to get extra cashback, i pretty much do it every year depending if the deal is right for me

I have received Plusnet's emailed confirmation now which confirms that my two year fixed deal is (almost) honoured - I pay an extra £0.50 per month for the Anytime call package but next years advance payment for line rental remains fixed at £125.88

Just asked customer services rep (not Retentions) to confirm that I had a two year fixed price contract. She went to her manager then gave me that response and confirmed it in email as below.
"Your line rental has been paid 12 months in advance at a cost of £125.88. You will get this price again next year if you renew. However, if you were to opt for monthly payment instead you would pay the new price."
Perhaps Bob has had a word?
    Hope this helps

    Bob,

Where a company breaks or changes the terms and conditions of ones contract and allows them to leave without penalty, as both you and all the others have done, that does actually mean *without penalty*.

I'm sure you understand what I mean.

I just spoke to an advisor who informed of the same thing (re. non refundable line rental).

Seeing as the phone contract can only be taken out with line rental, how can they refuse to refund the remaining line rental amount. Surely if they've breached the contract I shouldn't be in a worse position because of it.

    Hi,

It's not just 50p increase a month, as I make mobile phone calls as well.

These changes would make a bigger difference come January next year, as I would have to pay the additional cost of line rental for the remaining 6 months of my contract.

Thus I would want my contract to cease in January, as this breach in contract would be of material detriment to me.

If you're wanting to leave early as a result of the price change notification then I'd suggest doing so now. It's a shame really because you'd have been able to renew your Line Rental Saver at the current price if your contract had been taken out a few weeks earlier (you can renew up to three months before the end of the contract).

I can't guarantee that you'll be excused the termination fees if you wait until January :(

Yes I do, however it only applies for any fees payable due to breaking the contract early. It doesn't apply for advance payments that have already been taken for Line Rental Saver, or things like cessation fees if you outright cancel rather than migrate the service elsewhere.

This is from the terms of the Line Rental Saver product:
If you cancel Line Rental Saver within seven working days of your order you will get a full refund on your advance payment to the debit or credit card you paid with. Otherwise the Line Rental Saver charge is non-refundable.

I didn't and I'm a tad concerned by what you've been told. You are given three months prior to the end of a Line Rental Saver contract to renew. If you're currently paying £13.99/mnth for your line rental then any renewal/new contract taken out before October 1st will be at £125.88. Subsequent renewal would be at £137.88 though (unless the person you've spoken to has arranged for part of this to be refunded once it's taken?). If you've a recent support ticket reference you can provide me with then I can double check the situation for you if you like?

    It doesn't need checking.

It's plain and simple as I've said in my cut and paste statement

    Surely Plusnet will honour it?
