    Chill out dude.

So it's ok for you to post !!!!!?

It is ok for BOTH of us and Gazza to post this is a public forum after all, if you check back in another thread, London Tiger or was it Trader Pro and I don't see eye to eye on vehicle Marques, but we are not enemies or bickering about it. I never said that you shouldn't post , it seems that yourself and Gazza have misunderstood why I posted the picture, it's not to show off my old car as one or both of you had said, it was posted as I clean lots of cars and I honestly do not come across rust nowadays, I'm not saying it doesn't happen ever, it is the exception rather than the rule in my experience.
If the the OP looks on ebay or autotrader of MK5 Golfs of similar age, then I'm still very confident of not finding a rusty one, in fact I'm going to have a look now, not to prove you wrong, but to prove me wrong (hopefully) .
I would have had less to debate if many of you had come back and said yes lots of cars of that age rust, so in my eyes yes my 1st post of this thread was helpful to the poster but obviously not to yourself or Gazza, but personally the chastisation that follwed after that seemed somewhat immature, but we can all remain here as internet friends.

There isn't any rust on either of my cars, should photograph them not to assist the op?

The title of the thread was 05 Golf, and I have an 05 Golf, hence why I posted a recentish picture that I had taken on MOT day, as said and you seem to agree now, that it is unusal for modern cars to rust.
Now just because you wouldn't find it appropriate in this instance of the topic to post up a pic then that is simply a difference in the way you and I may think at the time, it doesn't make either of us correct and the other incorrect . I thought it was appropriate at the time I posted and it is not a crime, the OP has not been back, so we don't know if it was of any use or not. I'm not defending the actual post I'm defending against the unecessary attack when the reader can simply skip the post and read the next reply, isn't that what a chilled person may do?

Hi. I had an 05 VW Passat and it had an issue with rust. I took it to Heron VW in Newark and was told that it was covered under the warranty. It was booked in, taken away and a new tailgate fitted and colour matched. All under VW warranty.

I have opinions, you have opinions. All of our opinions are valid whether they are based on fact or feeling. Respect other peoples opinions, stop forcing your opinions on other people and the world will be a happier place.
  • I think this thread is going off the rail a bit.

Most people would agree that modern cars do not rust easily so I fail to see why this is even being brought up or debated.

In the case of the OP, and mine, (and other people affected by this particular problem) the car's front wing area around the wheel arches rust because of a design flaw. From what I can gather, there are some sound deafening/protective foam around the wheel arches which seem to rub against the metal causing the (rust protective) paintwork to get damaged and over the years the rust develops from underneath. It is nothing to do with bad repair/paint-job as has been suggested.

There was no reason to post a pic of your car.

There was no possible way it could of been helpful to the OP.

The fact you have posted the picture on various other threads, shows its pure Willy Waving and SAD.

There was no reason to you, the picture wasn't for you, and I'm sorry that it has stirred your envy emotions (if it hasn't then why keep harping on about it, it's a tatty wreck after all) but I suppose at least mine is long enough to hold and wave about , I wonder why you don't think it's sad to be so enraged about somebody posting a picture :p

It was a pathetic sad attention seeking post, which is why I commented.

The only person that seems intrigued by it is you, it's 8.3 years old actually, what's up did you GF run off with somebody in a 10 a penny Golf? As something has really stirred you up today.

You've made it in life. If only we all owned an old Golf.

    Keep waving the pecker.
