The OP asked for advice. Not for people to post pics of their non rusty cars.

See the edit I made to my above post while you were typing this.

So how does the picture help the op?

It depends how you are looking at the issue?
As mentioned modern cars don't rust
look away now if you going to be offended

    DSC_1582_zpsa0c9cd56.jpg

that is a 10 year old car.

So one could view it as (a) a car of the OPs Fathers age should not be rusting (b) the dealership are unwilling to honour the warranty which I believe is 12 years but subject to T&Cs and it could be that the customer didn't follow the T&Cs or that they may need to esculate it with VW UK.

However for you and Gazza, it's not a WW exercise, like you say it is an old car now, I do have a new one on order, but that has little to do with the thread .

So that you can repost it ;)
Try and keep with the point, I am willing to stand corrected, the angle I am looking at is that a car of any Marque of the age of the OP's Father's should not be rusting, I'm sure you agree? I would like to see examples of cars that age with rust problems, as I honestly do not see them nowadays.

Here's a post from a VW blogger experiencing the wing rust: http://www.stuartdalby.co.uk/vwgolfmk5/rust_wing/

On the same page there is a VW bulletin for the issue and how to repair it: http://www.stuartdalby.co.uk/vwgolfmk5/rust_wing/2009Nov9CorrosionToGolkMk5FrontWing.pdf

No excuse, there are forums for that elsewhere, but as you can see, the 8 year old banger has no rust, no need to impress anybody bar myself, it almost seems as if you are somewhat envious, from you responses in other threads you seem to attack a lot of people, seems it is my turn in this thread :p

To be 100% fair DUTR, I have seen you post that pic in about 3 or 4 different threads, you do seem rather happy with it :D
And that my son, is how to waft a towel!

Indeed I am, as mentioned in another thread I've been happy with VW for a long time now and taken the plunge to order another new one, to be fair even having it from new I still enjoy every outing in the car whether it be to and from work or further affield, I had walked down to the shops a couple of hours ago, there is a J reg Escort parked on one of the driveways, and guess what? No bubbly rust on the 3 sides that I could view. The pic in the link our earlier poster had demonstrated , shows where the paint is removed on the wing, however the lower door is a different matter. Also I think with the corrosion warranty that the MFRS offer, any paintwork rectification has to be addressed for the perforation warranty to be valid. My mate's previous Volvo C70 with 147k on the clock had no rust on either , that was a 2000, he replaced the car last year.
  • There's a plastic pig round the corner and no rust on that either

That's as much help to the op as DUTRs been. ;)

Aww, still throwing your teddy out of the pram?
I really would like to know what your beef is today, as let's face it, you are not the board shark, you are not the moderator and your responses are no more helpful than anybody else's.
If you were posting showing where there are a lot of 10year old cars with rust then yes I could see your point, I'm simply saying from early in the thread that perhaps the OP's Dad has picked up a car that has suffered a poor repair befor ethey owned it, it's nowt to do with it being a VW, if the thread was about say an 05 Focus , I would not have posted the picture that seems to offend you so much.
