Advice - selling a iphone 5 on eBay
Comments
-
As a rough guide, Grainger Games give, Part Ex: £287.00 OR Cash: £246.00
CEX, We buy for : £226.00
Give exchange : £273.00
That's at B grade because they can be a bit funny about giving the amount for A grade even if it's brand new.
Obviously they all sell the phones for more so you don't want to go any lower than their trade in prices and you want to be looking at how much it sells for elsewhere.0 -
CEX sell it for £390.00 (B grade).
Do remember though, not everyone shops around and there's no harm in asking for a little more as you can always lower it or haggle.0 -
Thanks everyone really appreciate the advice

And do not accept Paypal and let anyone collect it. Even if he or his friend is in the area.

It seems to be happening more just lately.0 -
We have a busy selling account on eBay specializing in iPhones-we've sold over 2000. Thought of a 'buy it now'? That's all we do as you can make sure that the buyer pays instantly-if they don't then the listing stays active. As long as it's in (genuine) good condition and boxed then you should manage £350ish.
Regarding scams-yes they are abundant! However, do as Paypal say and they will absolutely see you okay. We get up to ten fraudulent claims per week and, as long as you have SD (not rec del) tracking details and send only to the confirmed address you will be okay. It goes without saying that you should only send if the PayPal transaction page says 'eligible' for seller protection.
We have been down the Gumtree route and gave up because of the countless dodgy characters phoning up. Yes, we did meet some nice people but generally not a pleasant experience. BTW, eBay dealt with the threat of competition from Gumtree some time ago-they bought them!!0 -

Just be aware that your eBay buyer can still pay right up to the moment you can get the dispute closed. So if you happened to sell on gum tree this weekend you could have a real problem.
You must deal with the eBay sale first as it has cost you money in fees.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
